I think my entire appointment at the consulate was complete in approx 1 hr. After going through security, one first checks in with an officer who has your file. She goes through your papers and asks for anything that is due (for example - I had to hand over a new marriage certificate because the one I submitted was not actually what they were asking for). And she goes through a few things like your source of income and employment in the USA. This is where you submit your fingerprints electronically also.
My case officer was Ivy who was very approachable. Nothing was really a problem except that her computer didn't like my photo (apparently it was a bit dark or lacking definition, but was accepted anyway). The computer also didn't like my fingerprints as there was a lack of definition there too. That computer probably needs a hug or something.
You then sit down again and wait to see the interviewer and expect to be asked a lot of questions but I guess I had everything in ... read complete review

After many months of being unsure as to how the immigration process was going, we finally received notification that our interview was booked.
The weeks leading up to the interview were nerve wracking, as we checked, re-checked, and checked again all the paperwork, the requirements for medical checks and police checks, and made very, very sure that all items required were present and correct.
The day arrives, and I present my nervous self at the US Consulate at the requested time.
The security guard checked me through and adviced me to wait for window 5 to be free - which I did.
I waited maybe 25 minutes, and up I went. I met the person who was handling our application, who was extremely nice, and told me that all my papers were correct, and didn't even need further proof that the relationship was ongoing, as she could tell from our previous correspondance that we are in a committed relationship! So finger prints and hand over a coup... read complete review

So my interview was yesterday. My appointment was at 10am I arrived at 9:30am. I went straight to the immigrant visa window and spoke with B. She was very pleasant as expected reading from all the reviews about her. She said she'll get all my paperwork ready then call me back.
20 minutes later I was called back, she went through all my paperwork and then asked for my bank statement and resume which I gave to her. She could tell I was very nervous so she said it's a done deal already, there's nothing to worry about.
I took a seat then was called up by the CO 20 minutes later. I took the oath then only asked two questions. Why do I want to move to America? Am I sure I want to move to America? After that he handed me back my originals, kept my passport and prepaid envelope then said I was free to go. She sent me an email today to say visa has been issued and it'll be leaving their office on Monday.

My visit to the Auckland consulate started with taking the elevator on the Citi building on Customs street to the 3rd floor. I showed my interview and appointment letter to the security guard at the door. He asked if I had a cell phone which I did so I put this in a tray and was given a number card to claim it back when the interview was done. The security guard then scanned my evidence of a relationship I had on me with the x ray machine then directed me through the door to window number 5. Window number 5 was busy so I sat down in the waiting area. When window 5 was free I rung the bell and waited for assistance, a very nice older lady came and welcomed me and asked for my appointment letter and passport. She then explained the K1 process to me and gave me my birth certificate, DS3025 immunisation form and a CD containing my X ray on. She looked through the I134 and other evidence I had provided and said that everything looks good. She directed me to the cashiers window where I payed... read complete review

Arrived at the Consulate early, through the metal detector, and had bag & phone held. Took wallet & papers needed for interview. Would have slipped a book in there had I known that I would wait over 2hrs! Room was full, and after a 20min wait was called up by a lovely woman to go through my application ensuring all papers were there, which they were. She informed me they were two officers down so there would likely be a significant wait. I then paid the fee and sat!
I was the last one interviewed for the day, after waiting for 2hrs I was very pleased to be called up, unfortunately only to be told they had uncovered some information regarding my fiance, and I was handed a refusal! Fortunately I was informed that I wouldn't need to do another interview nor oath, and I was given clear information how to go about rectifying the situation, which turned out the information they had found was incorrect, & I was granted the Visa two days later!
I was asked for e... read complete review
