Interview schedule for Aug 15 at 8:30am.

Arrived at 7:50am and people were already waiting. I was too early so they asked me to take a seat first and go to 1/f at 8:15am.

At 8:15, they asked me to give them my phone. I went upstairs and wait for them to call my name.

At 8:40, a Chinese lady called me and first interview has started. She asked for the docs. Her questions were:

- who is petitioning for you? (My husband)
- how did u meet? (I told him that his classmates with my friend's wife and she introduced us by sending me a message on fb)
- of all the countries in Asia, why did he choose hong kong? (I told her that he was fascinated with Asia, but it happens that his friend knew someone in HK)
- did your husband tell his friend that he was looking for a wife? (No)
- what was his friend's intention why she messaged you? (Just to make friends, and show him around for when he would be here)

Took about 3 hours total, with the interview time lasting about 10 minutes with each interviewer. First interviewer just prepared you with the bulk of the questions and to check if there are inconsistencies within your app, then the second interview, makes you swear that all info is correct and approves you.

Everyone was really nice to me. Though I did see them ask questions that aren't tough, but in a tough way, to applicants that seemed to have holes in their stories.

They asked me things like where did you two meet, have you met each other's parents, how many times were you in the US, have you ever been arrested, what I studied when I was on a F1 visa in the US, what my fiance does for work and what he likes to do in his free time, where we plan to live, what I plan to do, etc. Very standard and easy to answer questions!

I received Packet 4 right before Christmas with the appointment date on 14 January 2014. I called the consulate to inquire if my fiance could attend, but the person that answered could not provide an answer and suggested me to send a request as "feedback" in the online scheduling system. For Hong Kong, the consulate schedules the appointment for you and you can't change the date unless there is some extraordinary circumstances and could delay your case for a while. I had earlier made an arrangement with my fiance to visit. After making the request, the Consulate denied it for security reason and closed the ticket. I did not fuss over it, but did print out the response as proof in case I needed it at the interview.

My appointment was at 10AM, which happened to be the last appointment in the morning. When I got there at 9:30AM, security asked to see the appointment letter and x-ray my bag and jacket. My phone was taken from me at the entrance and they gave me a number plat... read complete review

Emails sent via US Hong Kong embassy website by petitioner (me) for my fiancee were usually responded to within 5 business days....some language in the answers to my questions was vague or ontradictory, so sometimes I had to ask the same question a few times or a few different ways to get an answer I felt was authoritative or satisfactory..ie., what documents should I submit with 139-F Affidavit of Support. Answer 1) "You will need to prove ability to support" Answer 2) "This may require the 139-F.' Answer 3) "You may need to provide supporting documentation."

Given those three answers, we presumed it was safest to provide the 139-F with as much supporting documentation as I could reasonably provide, but not break my neck over it.

The sample interview questions here on Visa Journey seemed to cover the types of questions my fiancee was asked, mostly biographical information about me, a little abotu "our story," and the interviewer reviewed the documentat... read complete review
