My wife, the applicant, had stated that the interview went well. The personnel were professional, as expected as they work for the government. The interview was in Cantonese and the following questions and concerns were brought up:
1. Asked for all the documents.
2. Where did you guys meet?
3. Confirmed marriage certificate.
4. Asked if she had ever returned to the states after coming to Hong Kong. The answer was no. This is probably related to the J-1 2 year home residency restriction. She had just satisfied that requirement by a few days.
5. Interviewer had also expressed concern in regards to the finances. I (USC) work at Hong Kong. Obviously, this translates to that I needed a family member of mine as a 2nd petitioner. The interviewer was concerned that it is hard to find a job there. My wife replied that it would not be a concern because we are both engineers and being employed should not be an issue.
This whole process, between en... read complete review

My interview was scheduled for 2 NOV, 8:30am.
I went there at around 7:30am by taxi. Had a coffee and breakfast at Pacific which is opposite the consulate. There were more than 20 people waiting in line by 8am already so I decided to join them.
After the security check, the guards directed me to go upstairs and turn right where the Immigrant Service Unit is at.
The lights were still off and the counters were all closed at 8:15. I was the first one.
Surprising I bumped into a friend that I had not met for years there. He was there for his fiance visa. What a small world!
Seemed there were quite a lot of 8:30am interviews and I was not the first name they called.
It's pretty awkward as you can literally hear the whole interview of others when you are waiting for your turn.
I was first called by a Chinese man. He asked me to hand over the documents and I asked him to select some because I got piles and piles of materials with me.... read complete review

Wonderful experience with this consulate for my fiance. Her interview wasn't long at all, just some detailed questions and thorough examination of all our paperwork. Couldn't have lasted more than 30-45 minutes. We both were very impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail.

My wife's interview was scheduled for 9:30 am on 28 July. She arrived a bit early and handed in her documents at about 9:15... and was finished and outside the Consulate by 10:00! She said the initial interviewer and the Consular Officer asked exactly the same questions (about 10 questions in all, mostly about past travel & visas to the US, how long we'd been married, our kids, etc...) but nothing difficult or challenging. The only 'issue' was that the translator who translated her birth certificate(s) spelled her mother's name differently for two different documents. (In Korea there is not just one 'birth certificate', there are two documents that together serve as a birth certificate.)
She was also told that she would have to wait two weeks for the visa to be stamped in her passport and get it back. She'd asked for this to be done quickly so she can join us here in the US as soon as possible, but was told that 2 weeks was firm... no exceptions. Bummer. Glad to have t... read complete review

My wife went for her interview on 03-26-2015. She was told that our application for immigrant status has been suspended in accordance with section 221(g) and her visa is under administrative review processing under 9FAM 40.41. Also she was told to resubmit a new Lebanon police clearance and an updated passport. In October 2010 her original police clearance was sent back to the USCIS and destroyed for no reason after they denied her K-1 visa . These documents were never sent back to my wife or me. Contacted an immigration attorney and also contacted my U.S. Senator for help. javascript:emoticon(' ')
