Hopefully this review helps those who has and is going through similar process...

Me and my husband got to the capital the day before our interview (we are from Valverde Mao). We met with our friends who are also from VJ! She helped me a lot and I will be forever grateful with her! We couldn't go to bed super anxious and excited. We woke up at 5 am and got there at 6:15 am. His cousin dropped us off and also stayed with our cell phones. Our appointment was at 7 am, where there were at least 100 people already ahead of us. We go to the VR line. There different line for different hours and different types of Visa (I helped a lot of people that were lost and were on the wrong line) I feel like the embassy should have more personnel outside informing people where they need to go for those that don't really understand this process.

Line started moving. The lady asked us for our appointment letter in which I handed her the appointment confirmation page that I p... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled for 7:00 a.m. on June 11, 2015. We arrived at about 6:00 a.m. and there were about 3 lines already. At first, there was some confusion as to which line to become a part of because people were blocking the signs which indicate which appointment time should be in which line. The lines kept increasing and more and more people kept arriving. We didn't have our cellular phones on us so we don't know exactly when we were let in but the first people let in regardless of lines were people with children. There were a lot of random people (not part of the consulate) outside offering services and telling us that we need this and that for the interview such as "you need 50x50 pictures" and "you will be denied for wearing your ring a certain way" .. my husband and I just laughed and continued to mind our business. Once inside, you empty the contents of your pockets and go through security, one at a time. DO NOT BRING YOUR CELLPHONES! I saw many people being sent o... read complete review

I wanted to do this review because while on my process with all this reading other peoples experiences was so helpful!

Interview day finally came we were nervous but more because at the end of the day one of the most important decision that has to do with the rest of your life relies on someone whom knows nothing of your relationship other than some stated statements and documents. I have to say the day was not as bad the wait i think is the most dreadful part of it.

We drove early from Santiago to the capital we arrived at about 8:00 as we passed the consulate there was different lines formed. We ended up parking in a lot for RD$200 pesos, up the road from there was another one which said RD$100 pesos. These parking areas are not affiliated with the consulate. Since we got there early we went to eat at a cafeteria that was right around the parking lot. At around 8:50 or 9:00 we headed to the consulate, our appt. was for 10:00 a.m. There was a sign f... read complete review

Interview was 6/9/2015. We arrived at 6am a per all posts on site suggested. Our appointment was at 10am. A lady out side the consular told my husband that everyone in line when we first arrived had appointments at 6 am and 7am. So we went down the street and sat for awhile. We walked back around 8am , went thru security by this time there was not many people waiting to go thru security. We got a number #300. We waited for like 2 1/2 hours and we were called to window # 30 we gave her the original marriage certificate, birth certificate , divorce certificate, police certificate, pass port and appointment confirmation. We were told to wait until called again. We waited for like another hour and 45 minutes and were called to window 24.

Nice man asked me if I spoke Spanish , I said yes .
Asked my husband if he spoke English , he said a little . So he told me he would conduct interview with me in English and my husband in Spanish. He swore both of us in .

my interview was 5/27/2015. I am the USC. it is suggested that BOTH of you appear. the line is very long to get into the embassy. once inside you will get a number. look for your number on the screen. the first time you have to give them the birth certificate, the police certificate, the appointment letter, and the passport.

the questions I was asked are: 1. how did you meet? 2. how many times have you visited? 3. do you have any pictures?

the questions asked of her 1. how did you meet? 2. how many times has he visited? 3. does he have children?4. there names? 5. does he have grand children? 6. there names? by the time of the interview almost 3 hours later, we forgot to be nervous.

the interviewer congratulated us. gave us a white piece of paper that stated the visa was approved.
