OK, so our appointment was @ 6am, we arrived there at 5:30 and the line was really LONG. They have 4 different lanes for the K1 you get into the first 3 and on the 4th lane it’s for other people requesting other things (I don’t know what). At exactly 6:15am they started to let people in and going through the security check point, on line for females and the other for males. Once inside you are told to seat at the far end of the room (close to the cafeteria) and to wait for your name to be called. You MUST were comfortable shoes and clothing since its extremely humid there, no AC and just a bunch of HOT AIR fan blowing and then after everytime they call you to a window for whatever reason, you end up loosing your seat and that place is extremely crowded. After about an hour or so we were called to window 22, here you leave the passport, the applications and whatever paper they want and they asked my fiancée (beneficiary) if she had any kids? If she has ever been married? and if she... read complete review

August 12th my fiance and I went to Santo Domingo for our visa interview. Got there at 5:30 a.m. for a 6 a.m. appt. Called us to the window to take our documents and give us a number. Went to the cashier window to pay the fees. Sat and waited hours. Fiance had his finger printing done. Sat and waited until 2 p.m. and called in for separate interviews. Went to main area and waited until 3 p.m. and called to the window for a few more questions and received the verdict that it was being denied! Main question was "why don't we get married in DR"? My response was, "wanted to be married in the states with family and friends. Mother is 93 yrs. old and can not travel." He was not satisfied evidently with the response. He stated that he believed we had a "plan"! I am older (female, US citizen) but there seems to be no problem with an older man and young Dominican girl.

Now, what should we do? Get married in DR and go for the CR1? OR is there another avenue we sho... read complete review

My review of the consulate isn't bad. Just that you need to make sure you have all of your paperwork done and ready to be turned in. Organization is very important. Our interview took most of the day. And consisted of alot of questions, but we were able to answer and remained calm. We didn't have the DS-157 form one sheet it's for males. But the lady kindly filled it out for us, and she was a big help. Niether of us could eat, and did not until we left there.
We were sworn in, asked serveral questions. They asked my fiance' to write my name, why he wanted to marry me, his son's names, their birthdays, there mother's name, how many times i'd been to the dominican republic, where we stayed the last 5 times i had been there. Over all just prepare to be asked anything. We did not think we would have been asked so many questions, but pack your patience, have all your forms and you will be just fine.

One other thing is to beware people are on the outside of the embassy,tr... read complete review
