Hello to all my VJ fam,
I hope this review finds you all well, and will give you a piece of mind as you go on your journey.
I prepared all my forms and the electronic forms here in the United States and took the copies. I was able to fill them out once my fiance and child had their passports, because you need the passport #, expiration date, and where it was issued.
When I got to DR, I wen to the bank, (banco popular) the tellers were so confused in what bank fee we were talking about. Thankfully my fiance had a contact person, who knew about the process. So at the bank they asked non-Immigrant or Immigrant Visa fee and we thought apparently for a K1 Visa it would be non-immigrant and it was for Immigrant visa. So wait, no you need to pay both fees for non-immigrant and immigrant, they would tell you No at first if they really don't know what they are doing. And yes, don't take no for an answer because it can be done in the system, all t... read complete review

Our interview time was 8:30am we arrived there at 7am we were told to wait before going into the line. at 7:30 am we went to line number 4 they gave us lucky number 214 then they seperated us. once inside we waited until 8:45am they called us to window 16 to turn in the cedula ,banco popular receipt, passport medical packet. then we sat down waited what felt like for an eternity at 11am they called us to window 26 it was a very nice white american guy. he asked me the following questions:
when and how did i meet my husband?
why did i come to dr? was it for vacation or business?
he then asked to see pictures
he asked what was the date of our wedding?
where was the reception?
he then stated that he had to review our case and for us to have a seat.
i was so worried 10 minutes went by then they called our number
and he asked my husband
does he have trouble with the police here in dr or in haiti?
did he turned in the birt... read complete review

So here is our experience at the U.S. Consulate I\'m gonna make this as short as possible. We get to la Capital 2 days before our interview since I wanted to scope out the area and make sure we had time to get all our stuff together, we ended up stayin at the Jardines del Teatro Hotel which was a great recomendation I got from here at $60US a night it was a bargain and they are very friendly, we felt like we had our own place with a small kitchen and laundry service. The day of the interview we get there like at 7:15am since we had a 8:30 interview, Women seperated from the Men and they kept saying no cell phones, memory chips or any electronic device constantly,(I dont get how a memory chip can be used by itself... anyway) we got in at around 7:35 and we got lucky #93 I wasn´t expecting any AC and the fans weren´t helping at all but they did have cold water available atleast, at around 8:20 we get called to window #26 and my Wife was asked for her passport, police record, banco pop... read complete review

My experience was fairly easy, & quick. I arrived in the DR on Tuesday night around 7pm, and we drove to the Teatro Del Jardines hotel to spend the night. It was a beautiful place with wonderful people there & great security. On the morning of the interview (Wednesday October 3rd, 2012), we arrived at the consulate around 6:30am. After that, I'm not definite on times since I didn't really pay attention. We first saw some friends (Scarlet & Angel) and got to meet them in person for the first time! That was nice to see some familiar smiling faces We then got in line & walked, & walked until we were met by a man who gave us our number (69). We then got to the front where we were separated into our own lines (of course men go faster). It was a little nerve wracking since I have a pacemaker & am not supposed to go through the security scanner, but they assured me that there would be no problem (and so far my pacemaker is still working!). After going through sec... read complete review
