Me and my husband filed AOS documents early in September, I did my biometrics in November.

On Feb 14, 2012 my husband got an email notification that an interview was scheduled on March 20, 2012. and the notice was mailed on Feb 14th. .Today is March 1, I haven't recieved the notice letter yet I am very nervous... Could it had got lost in mail? What should I do to get this notice? I called them last week to make sure that they had my correct address..they said they had mailed the letter and if it does not come in the mail by 30 days then i should call uscis again. (30 days would be March 14..exactly 1 week before my interview). I have NO idea what documents are needed..I have no time to prepare for it.

Can anyone please send me a sample copy of their interview letter? you can black out any personal info..im really worried. The only thing the uscis agent told me is that the interview is in Newark NJ on march 20.. pls helP!!

I just filed my AOS last week after getting my K1 visa. We got married and filed for AOS. Now the paperwork is done and I am at home bored! Used to work in Canada but here I know I cant work until my EAD is approved. What did you guys do in the spare time?

Anyone in a similar situation? I was thinking maybe take a few courses here and there..but would i be able to enroll.. or be considered an international student? How about volunteering somewhere..pls share your experience..

Congrats to everyone on their interviews! I just rescheduled my interview from October to August 15th! saved us about 2.5 months! So glad!

I agree. We booked in May also and our hopes of moving it up were dashed when no dated appeared... but at the same time, you're waiting for a specific goal, unlike waiting for that NOA2. You know exactly how far away it is and that made time pass a lot faster

Thanks for all your replies, but thankfully we were able to get another interview time for Aug 12. That should be enough time to get the medical exam results and all the other paperwork we need.

BTW, I have been keeping track and it seems like new interview times are opened up on fridays after 6pm. For the past three weeks, every Friday after 6 there have been open appointments in august. So if anyone is looking for an earlier time, keep refreshing during this time!

How did you get to rebook your interview? I was out of town for the past week and missed the heads up its so frustrating.. I went to the usvisaservice website but it does not show the dates available..it only says "the next available appointment is in 109 days".

I have a quick question about the NOA 2 expiry dates. My NOA2 expires in Sept, however the only interview spot i could book is in October in Montreal.

I'm wondering what the process is to renew /extend the NOA 2 for the montreal embassy..has anybody been in the same situation? Its really frustrating to get someone at MTL to reply back..

Your medical needs to be within 6 months of your interview, so that should be ok. The only thing to consider is that for AOS, your medical needs to be less than a year ago to be valid, otherwise you'll need to have a second medical done, so if your plans for POE, marriage and AOS filing work within that then you shouldn't have any issues.

I had my medical 2 months ahead of my interview. The doctor's office just cared that I had my case number, vax records and payment.

You have to register for DHL on the consulate website. https://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/login

DHL is used to send your passport back to you after your visa is approved. I registered after I sent P3.

In additional to paying for the initial 129F there is a $350 visa fee that you can pay at the time of your interview or online when you make an appointment.

my fiance called and pkt 4 was sent. I just booked the interview: Oct 31 sooo far away. Can i book my medical this far in advance? Did anyone else do the same or will there be issus with booking it about 3 months early?

Know what you mean.!!!! We have been watching the available times several time day. We feel sorry for those who are looking now only to see hat NO times are available. We feel very fortunate now just to have a time.

I am sort of confused about the DHL registering process actually very confused! I sent out packet 3 forms using UPS (we never recieved packet 3 yet b/c of the postal strike)

At what point did you all register for DHL? when did you /are u supposed to use DHL..i am not sure what fee they are referrring to? My fiance paid the fee for the initial 129f form.

And I guess they gave an online link to schedule when packet 4 comes..fingers crossed for packet 4!!!!!!

Did your NOA2 have a different Case number or does the NVC issue a different number to quote? I want to call to find out when the package was sent to the Vancouver Embassy (I have to change my address with the Embassy) but not sure what info to give? And, how did you know to do your packet 3 if you didn't receive the hard copy?

Also, how long is your NOA2 for? I won't be back to the US until July 27th and Vancouver until Sept 15th - our NOA2 is dated July 1st and I need to know how long I have to fax back the DS-230 and checklist?

What is a DS-160?

The confusion is setting in now as to the next steps - - I know a few days to the NVC and then could be up to a few weeks to reach Vancouver but then I'm confused on the timelines for the next procedures. I'm still in Japan until the end of July so hopefully I won't miss any deadlines!

You are sooooo lucky your embassy is vancouver! Atleast they are email savvy and use faxes! Montreal is very hard to get a hold of plus their interview wait time is nothing compared to montreal..

A letter should be mailed/ emailed to the petitioner with your embassy case #. (mine started with MTL####...) I used that and the used the WAC number in one of the forms (DS-160)

I went to the consulate's website under tofind a list of packet 3 forms needed. But definitely get in touch with your embassy once you know ur pprwork has left nvc.

Call DOS and ask if Packet 3 has been sent to you.

If yes, no need to wait for the physical copy.

Great! You can request an emailed version of packet 4 and they'll send it after they reivew packet 3. You might even just get it electronically later today or tomorrow. I emailed the K dept after faxing packet 3 and asked if they'd received it and requested that packet 4 be emailed as well. Then, you'll have instructions how to book the interview and you'll click on a calendar....really simple.

Anyone in Canada - applying from the Montreal Embassy? We are still waiting for our packet 3 to be mailed to us..its been almost a month! and the candian postal strike is still on :(

I have asked my fiance to call the embassy and ask about the delay..does montreal embassy use DHL fedEX as well?

Does montreal also email packet 3 if we request it to be emailed to the beneficiary?

Does the petitioner also have to submit the DS 230 form for packet 3?

I know yor frustration! I got Packet 4 telling me to make my appointment and i tried daily for three weeks. Last week i dedicated myself from 7:30 (when their doors open) until Noon just refreshing over and over. Finally on Thursday there were some available.

I was getting so so frustrated. I think because of the backlog they are experiencing they are opening random Wednesday afternoons. Since the same day i got mine about 5 or 6 other people on VJ got theirs on my day and time.

Keep trying! Mine is on the 25th of May, and my medical is tomorrow Hopefully if everything goes smoothly my fiance will be flying one way from Utah on the 17th of June and the 40 hour roadtrip to my new home will begin.

I was just reading this thread..im waiting for my packet 3 right now from Montreal. Im just wondering a couple of things.. How long did they take to send you packet 4? Does montreal give an assinged interview date, or can we book our interview online? Im not sure how long the wait is?

Checklist of documents to gather for the interview – one copy per family is sufficient.

2 color photographs (Photograph Requirements)

Photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s passport

For fiancé(e) visa applicants only, please complete additional documents as follows:

You can send in your package as soon as DOS tells you the consulate mailed your Packet 3. You don't need to wait for the physical copy but it has to be logged as mailed by Montreal.

I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking of filling the spaces with my most recent visits over the past year as I've been multiple times since I was a child. I would need a book to write them all down, lol!

Hmm..thats a good idea. Maybe they only want us to fill the 3 lines in the form..b/c the form doesnt say attach another sheet if required.. oh well,, i think i'll list the past 2 yrs..just in case.

TNA, this is all the beneficiary from now on. Feel free to start filling out the form immediately and send it in. Definately fax in the DS-230. Are you going to the Montreal or Vancouver consulate? Sorry, missed your last question. After you send in Packet 3, they will send you a letter saying you can book your appointment online. Process is slightly different between Vancouver and Montreal.

Do they mean all the visits to US in ur life? That is faaaar too many to count! I go to USA multiple times a year..how are we supposed to write all these visits? What have you guys written?

I faxed in my checklist today and got an email back from the consulate in Vancouver. I love those guys! I paid the fee on the website and booked my interview: June 24.

They had earlier appointments (the earliest was May 31 -- 20 days from today), but I want to make sure to leave enough time before the interview for that danged australian criminal record check to get back (and enough time after the interview to get my passport back).

This move is getting so close I can smell it!

I just want to clarify the packet 3 contents which we mail/ fax back to the embassy). Can the packet 3 documents be filled out only by the beneficiary ..or does the petitioner need to contribute or sign some papers for packet 3?

is there a checklist of packet 3 forms that we can use..i really want to prepare packet 3 now as I will be out of the country in a couple of weeks.

And after packet 3 is sent back to the embassy, the embassy will mail packet 4 to the beneficiary (with a date for the interview?)
