Hi everyone,
I hope im in the right place posting this..
Im currently having some issues... Basically ill give you all a quick rundown:
-I moved to the USA on a k-1 visa March 2012, Ive been living with my husband (who is american) in the USA since moving here.(I moved from Canada im canadian)
-I got my green card in the mail about a month ago (which was weird because I was told I had to go to pittsburg for an interview, but I didnt..they just sent me the card in the mail which was a huge surprise..)
-Me and my husband are having marriage issues (I wont get into them, we have tried working on them but we just arent in any luck) and I want to go back home to Canada and be divorced.
All I want to do is go back home to canada and not be together with my husband anymore...beside the divorce, what steps do I have to take to go back home to live? im so lost..I assume I cant just go across the border to canada and live there now im sure I have to do something and im lost on everything how to go about this..
any help would be EXTREMLY appreciated!!

Hi everyone,
I apologize in advance if im in the wrong forum,I wasnt sure if I had to post in the student visa forum or AOS exactly...
Anyways, Im in abit of a rut..
I just recently moved to the USA from Canada on a K-1 visa (I moved here 8 months ago in april). Me and my husband got married may 10/2012 and I received my Work permit card this past August. Now, I havent got any notice or anything to have my AOS interview/green card yet, im sure I will within the next few months or so.
Ide like to start taking some classes at university in the USA here this upcoming march, and im unsure how to go about it. Do I have to wait until I receive my green card, or wait until my status is adjusted? im very confused. Im married and all I have is a temporary work permit card... Someone told me Its fine for me to start taking classes because me and my husband are married but then I heard I have to wait until my status is changed and I dont know how long that will take....
Can someone please give me some advice on what to do here?

hey everyone,
me and my husband filed for my AOS and EAD on June 8/2012. I already had my biometrics and we got a letter stating my case was transferred to CSC July 9. I looked on the USCIS Site today for my EAD. It moved from "Initial review" to "Post decision activity" while skipping "Decision"....
I looked at my AOS Status on USCIS Site and its still in "Intial Review" though.
is something wrong with my EAD Filing? why did it go to "post decision activity" and skipped decision? what did i do wrong? and will I get my ead soon then, what does this all mean? please help!

hi everyone
me and my husband filed for my AOS/EAD June 7/2012 and got our NOA1 mailed to us on June 8/2012 (quick huh? haha)I ended up having my Biometrics June 27, and a few weeks later on July 9/2012 we got a letter in the mail saying our case was transferred to California Service Center so the processing would be quicker for us.
It's been 68 days today since we have filed. Im dying to work I can't stand not being able to do anything. Ive been reading lots of peoples timelines on vj who filed around the same time as me and so many people got there EAD soooo fast. why do I feel like mine is taking forever? will mine come soon...?

Hi everyone
I just recently came to the USA about 3 months ago to be with my husband through our k-1 visa. I just had my biometrics done June 28, all im waiting for now is my EAD and my interview notification. Me and my husband are having some major issues right now ( I wont get into it) and I need to know if its possible if i can go back home, I just came from my home country in Canada. Could I just send in a letter to USCIS or something withdrawing my AOS and just go back home? I dont want to be with my husband anymore... Or do I Have to stay in the USA? im not sure what my options are.

Hey everyone,
I just had my biometrics done June 27 successfully. Today July 14 me and my husband got a letter from immigration today stating our I-797C was transferred to California Service center. When we filed for AOS, we also filed for my EAD. Im really anxious to start working, is it possible to get my EAD very soon? its been 17 days after my biometrics and was wondering if since my AOS got transffered will it take longer to get my EAD?
-
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if your supposed to send in evidence (letters, plane tickets, etc..) when sending in your application for AOS. Me and my husband filed for our AOS June 7 and I already had my biometrics june 27, just waiting on my EAD now at the moment..
Im just seeing lots of people on there timelines on here with lots of RFE's like this:
Sent in AOS documents
had biometrics
RFE
Another RFE
Got EAD in hand
etc..
Im not understanding what the RFE's are for when filing for your AOS...

hi everyone
me and my fiance just recently got married in west virginia with our k-1 visa. We filed for my EAD/AOS a few days ago and have tracked it to see that it successfully was received at the chicago lockbox. I was just wondering, where will our case go to next to be processed? im just curious, I Would like to check on the USCIS website to see processing times for EAD if I knew where it was going to be processed..

hi everyone
Me and my fiance'e are getting married within the next few weeks and then filing for my AOS. From what I understand we file for AOS and EAD along with it because i really would like to work asap. Within the filing the AOS and EAD im supposed to go to a biometrics am I right?. Im curious where im supposed to go for my biometrics AND my AOS interview later on. Me and my fiance live in west virginia, and when we filed for our k-1 everything was sent to vermont. I know our AOS will be sent somewhere different, but overall judging from where we are filing from for AOS, where am I going to have to go for my biometrics and interview? we are just worried about having to travel far for them both or if we have to go to a different state or something like that.
please let me know! thank you!

Hi Everyone
I just recently moved to the USA to be with my fiancee about a month ago. We are planning on getting married within the next 2 weeks. After we are officially married I know we have to file for m AOS, and Im unsure on a few things:
Does AOS get processed at the same place our K-1 visa was processed (we filed at vermont) or somewhere else?
and while AOS is processing do i get permission to work? I thought after filing for AOS after a month or so you get a temporary work permit for filing the AOS being able to work until AOS is approved.
im not sure if im understanding this all right is all.
I read the guide on here about AOS, i just want to be sure if i missed anything or if im understanding this all right!
thanks!!

hi everyone
i just recently moved to the US a couple weeks ago on my k-1 visa to be with my fiance. as far as i know, i should wait a couple weeks to apply for a SSN just to make sure im in the immigration system. I planned on applying for my SSN this weekend, but my fiance told me theres no point because i would have to apply for a new one once we actually got married. My fiance told me not to get a SSN until after we are married, and we plan on getting married within the next 2 months.
what should i do? was my fiance right about that, or should i just go ahead and apply for a SSN now?

hi everyone!
so i just recently moved to the USA about 3 weeks ago from canada to be with my fiance here in the USA from our k-1 visa. we are unsure when we are getting married yet,we know it has to be 90 days within arrive, but we are definatly for sure getting married within the next two months for sure as we just got our marriage liscense a couple of days ago.
my question is, is the any way i can apply for a work permit now? me and my fiance thought we had to wait until we were married to apply for my work permit but we are just unsure. ide like to apply for one now even though we arent married quit yet because as far as i know it takes about 3 months to process and i hate not being able to work!
please let me know ide really appreciate it!

hi everyone!
So I just arrived in the USA from Canada on my k-1 visa about 2 weeks ago, me and my fiance plan on getting married in the next couple of weeks aswell.
my question is, if i plan on going to a drop in clinic to go see a doctor, what kind of I.D do I need?
I only have my passport for identification, im just so new to the country (p.s I moved to West Virginia) that I dont have much identification or a health card since I immigrated on the k-1. can I still go to a doctor at the drop in clinic?
thank you!!

Hi everyone,
So me and my fiance'e are finally living together yay! it took us about 4 months to recieve our k-1 visa from vermont service center.
we were just wondering though, I myself am the beneficiary who moved to virginia from canada to live with my fiancee (we arent married yet) and ive never had a drivers liscence even in my own country back home in canada, even though we arent married yet (i know we have 90 days lol) can i go ahead and apply to get my drivers liscense?
whats the best way to do all this? get married THEN apply for a SSN and then my drivers liscense?
or can we go ahead now even though we arent married yet and apply for ssn and go and get my liscense?
thanks everyone!

hi everyone!
So me and my fiancee were just recently approved for our k-1 visa in mid january. Im coming from canada, vancouver, to go live with my fiance in the USA. My fiance will be picking me up and we will be flying together from the vancouver international airport this upcoming sunday. I am worried though, last year i attempted to visit my fiance for the first time and was denied at the airport for looking like an illegal alien for having waaayyy to much luggage and not enough ties to canada, having no job etc. So security has my photo and my fingerprints and went through a loonng one on one conversation with security . I never even got on the plane that day and was escorted out of customs, and since then i have never attempted to go on a plane and i never have been on a plane my entire life actually nor to the USA. I guess im worried ill be stopped at the airport and denied because of that incident even though I have an approved k-1 visa.
Also, during my interview at the vancouver consulate the interviewer told me even though i have an approved visa, doesnt mean 100% entry into the USA. why would that be? what are some reasons why you would be denied if you have the visa? if i was denied could i just try again the next day or something?
i have no criminal record or anything... so i dont know why you would be unable to not go.
anyone have any similar experiences? ever been denied even with the visa?
please help, im incredibly nervous!!!

JessicaDiana,
Have you already registered for DHL, you should right away if you haven't. You should call DOS to find out the status of your visa.
when i booked my appointment for my interview online i was pretty sure i made it for pik up at the dhl.. how do i register for dhl? and i feel terrible for asking this but what is DOS number? i dont know what DOS means exactly...
thanks!

hey everyone
I had my k-1 visa interview at the vancouver consulate January 6 and was approved the same day. They told me DHL would contact me in a few days so i could go to DHL in the richmond branch and pick up my visa. Its been exactly 2 weeks today since being approved, im a little worried I havent been contacted yet. I check my email everyday and my junk mail but nothing. I Got nothing either like a tracking number or anything from the consulate for DHL. what should i do? im a little lost and worried now..
thanks!

hey everyone, again.. haha
this site is incredibly helpful and i cant help but ask questions, ive asked alot recently just to find out if im doing everything right and not missing anything..
so, i had my medical today at woking medical in vancouver. everything went great, very smooth process! ALTHOUGH, I got home pretty late from my medical today, and i got home and was curious about my xrays. The medical gave me a cd disk with my xrays on there, and i was curious what mine would look like. so i popped it into my computer and took a look. Um, they gave me the WRONG disc, they gave me a 40 year old mans xrays from today but had my name on the disk!!!!!!!! i was just looking on the files on the computer and it had info and xrays of a man..
my interview is this friday at the vancouver consulate, so in a day basically. will this effect my interview? after my interview should i go back to the medical and ask about it? im scared calling medical tomorow about it and them saying i cant go to my interview or somthing silly because of this
what should i do?!?

hey everyone!
me and my fiance have our interview this friday at the vancouver consulate. We have everything, we are just sorting through all of our documents right now getting everything in order. Our only problem is, neither of us have our original letters of intent. Should we print off a new one, sign them and bring them? or will we be okay not bringing that..
thanks!!

hey everyone
i have my medical on wednesday here at woking medical. I know you have to bring a photocopy of your passport, but how?
like in black or white or in colour?
i tried making a photocopy at a few drug stores and i can only get black and white (due to i have no scanner at home)
also, everywhere ive been to do this, my photo is very dark and a little blurry, but my info next to it like my passport number, name, etc is clear to see.
will this be a problem? what should i do?

hey everyone!
I have my interview at the vancouver consuate this friday. And if al goes well, I'l be moving to the USA in with my hunny!
The job im currently working at gives T4's a little late every year, we get ours like March 6 every year or something like that.
Since ill be gone at the end of February in the USA can I get my job to mail my T4 to a family member here and then have them mail it to me in the USA?
Is it easy to do your taxes for canada doing it from the USA? how does it work?
