nachos reacted to JSully in N-400 Part 1 - option 1 or 2?
Option 1 is much better. It's processed much faster than Option 2 since it does not require proof of marriage. I was qualified for both options and selected Option 1 and seems like I'll be done in less than 3 months. In other threads, someone was mentioning that immigration officer changed the selection to Option 1 from option 2 at the interview. Less work for them as well.

I'm finally a US citizen! Had my oath ceremony in Johnstown, PA.
It was a judicial ceremony even though I didn't have a name change. The ceremony was to begin at 9.30, we got there around 9:10. Went through the security check and took our seats. There was around 20 people being naturalized there.
Checked in with USCIS officer who asked if anything had changed since my interview and reviewed the answers on my interview notice. She then took my green card and had me sign my certificate. After everyone had checked in, the judge came out and we said the pledge of allegiance. He then said some nice words about what it means to be a citizen. The district attorney then spoke for a little bit about much the same thing.
All the candidates were then asked to stand and raise their right hand. The judge recited the oath and all we had to do was say 'I do' at the end, After that the judge handed us miniature flags and we got our certificates. We were able to pose for photos with the judge afterwards and there were some donuts afterwards.
All in all a nice ceremony and shorter than I had expected, I think it was over in less than hour. Going to apply for my passport tomorrow, after that I'll only need to get social security updated and that will be that!
Glad to have this over with and congrats to everyone else who had their oath today!
