  1. congrats kiwijen!!! awesome news indeed!

just wondering.. anybody starting to miss the igors list days [months]?! i still feel a little emptiness when i can't think which website i'm missing checking on my little routine check-ups! i think igors will be implanted in my brain as one of the regulars for a long time yet!

That's too funny - after NOA2 I felt lost too.....what to "stalk" next?? I too checked Igor's 50 million times a day. Then it was calling NVC - checking DHL - calling DoS....now we have an interview scheduled, he has his packet 4, and all I have left to stalk are this forum, the AoS forum, and the UK consulate reviews. All of which don't change much through the day :( :(

At least I know I'll be with my Baby soon, and a wife by mid-August WOOT!!!

Also, today is the first anniversary of Byron and I meeting, and falling in love. Most amazing day of my life. I got to London at 7am, spent the entire day walking around all of London and getting to know each other, ended up with ME having to make the first move (he was too shy and unsure how I felt) - and the most amazing end to to most amazing day of my life. He sent me flowers today at work to commemorate our "first anniversary". :D

  2. I have repeatedly read that he should leave at least 3 hours between his POE and his connecting flight. Issues usually arise when it is particularly young or new person who doesn't know what to do that ends up checking the beneficiary through. If he ends up waiting more than an hour with no response, tell him to speak to a supervisor.

Thanks! Luckily, he'll be flying into the airport I'm picking him up from (Wash. DC), so the connection won't be an issue. Knowing I should probably not arrive 4 hours before his flight lands *does* help LOL (as I tend to do that)! I will tell him about speaking with a supervisor if he waits too long though... :)

  3. So I did a light search in the VJ forums for what happens at POE....didn't really help me much (I don't look at the pre-2010 posts as info changes constantly). Does anyone know what my fiance is to expect? How long it may take? Etc? It's a bit premature to even ask, as his interview is not until July 20, but I am curious....

Dizzy, August 31. Seriously. I would S*** a Brick!!! Email those fools!!! You guys sent packet June 3. We sent June 2. Our interview dates are 5 weeks apart. NOT right. I did tell Byron to say we had no wedding date - would happen within 2 days of his arrival.....so you are probably right about the wedding date statement. Anyway, I wish you much good luck!!

  4. My fiancé is a pretty experienced IT guy, he builds networks, configures servers, etc. I just posed this question to him:

me: server question for you: on my Decemberite forum, last night a VJ admin posted this:

Congrats! This thread has become pretty large indeed! To reduce server loads I will need to close this "large thread" however please feel free to start a "part 2, 3, 4..." of this thread from scratch! :)

Thank you for understanding. My goal is to make the VJ server as snappy as possible :).

    and then "locked" the thread

my question is....if we start a new thread and add the same amount of data, how is that any easier on the servers?

    His reply:

Byron: it's easier for database queries

all the thread content is stored in a DB - if it's one large thread, it takes longer to search through the DB entries - multiple threads with less info in it, will search faster

but, if you end up with the same amount of data in part 2 3 4 as example, then you sit with exact same problem

me: ahh ok - thanks Babe!

Just in case anyone was wondering.... ;)

  5. Yippeee!!!!!! LOL I bet you're just over the moon now too! Very happy for you both. When do you plan he'll be on his way to POE?

    Love,

    Mari

Thanks Mari! Yes definitely over the moon!! :D

It takes up to 10 days to get the visa after the interview, so Byron will put in his month's notice at work at the beginning of July, then after his visa arrives he'll hop on a plane almost immediately!! We'll be married within a few days of that!! (No wedding for us - just quickie civil ceremony) :P

  6. HEAR YE! HEAR YE!

    NEW UPDATED FORMS for I-134

    I-134 http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134.pdf

Aw ####### I sent the "old" one to Byron last week and he received it yesterday. I suppose I will have to send him the new one now? Do you think it will matter?? I guess I will anyway. It only costs 98 cents to send a letter. Just as long as I don't have to resend all the documentation....that should be ok right? What do you think? Thanks!

  7. London interview date!

Gin called Dept of State to see if the medical results had been received at the embassy - they have, but more importantly, packet 4 has been sent!

Interview date is 18th July at 9am

    kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif

Could you please remind me when your medical was? Byron had his today and I want to know how soon to start bugging DoS heehee! Thanks!!

  8. I am also interested in peoples opinions on this question.

I put (based on what the question said): I Intend to provide room and board and full support for him until he is able to legally work in the USA, when then our finances will be joint.

I didn't know what to put there and was just being honest. My fiance, once employed, will make at least twice more than I do, so I thought the answer was ok.

Looking back, I probably should have not said "until". Too late now. :(

  9. Hey Bobby-- we did receive a letter from the NVC it said that they had received our petition and the letter was to let us know that within a week they'd forward it to the consulate they also gave us a case number to use with the consulate .. I'm not sure when this was received, because it was sent to our lawyer, but by the time he had scanned it and sent it to me, our case was already at the consulate.

So I'm sure something will be coming soon to you!

Good luck, we're all almost there!

Ahhhh that's *probably* why I have received nothing from NVC, yet my fiance already received his Packet 3 and sent it back. NVC stuff apparently goes the lawyers....mine which did NOT scan and email to me.....or even let me know at all. Grrrrr

  10. Byron got the Embassy packet 3 today (was sent last Thursday according to DoS).

I think it's funny....London Embassy sends the Packet 3 letter on May 26. On May 26 I fax to my HR in Texas for an employment verification letter. Both UK and USA have postal holidays May 30. On May 31, I receive the complete typed out and signed employment verification letter composed and signed from an HR person in Texas. Byron receives his fully automated Packet 3 from about 5 miles from he lives on June 1. I guess I'm spoiled....but seems so odd to me to receive a letter from nearly the same neighborhood a week later....when I get letters from Texas in 2 days (the physical distance to me is like London - Moscow).

I think the stress of this has really been getting to me. My beautiful wonderful fiance has been getting the brunt of my...I guess it could be called K-1 wrath....when I told him that the Packet 3 had been sent last week, I was wholly hoping and expecting him to finish the paperwork today. He didn't. To be fair, he was really busy at work. But also, I went into work early today to copy and finish his I-134 parcel before I had to get to work. So maybe feeling bitter he didn't do the same when he could have sent it today, rather than tomorrow. I don't know about everyone else here, but every single day counts to me.

Argh anyway, thanks for being a sounding board Decemberites....please every one keep on updating! I think it helps keep more than just me sane

  11. all this time awaiting the triumphant sounding 'Packet 3' and it arrives today.

The whole single side of paper with a link to the embassy website where the forms are! and finding this IV18a for the medical exam is giving me a headache although the woman from the doctors told me it was on the website! i did book my medical though for the 14th june which was the earliest available slot for knightsbridge.

I think i need to look at all this with a fresh head in the morning! starting to wish i had the organisational skills of the rest of you, having all these forms pre-prepared. i personally, at the last minute today, pleaded with my boss to let me borrow her printer prior to my shift this afternoon - and now am undertaking the tedious task of handwriting all of the forms. happy happy joy joy

My fiance is going through the London consulate too, his medical is booked for June 8, and he found the IV18a form here:

    http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

on the right hand side there is link under The Medical Examination that brings you to the form:

    http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv_medical_letter.pdf

In case you hadn't found it yet, hope this helps!! :)

  12. @Mari: "I was so stressed, first I bit him... then I told him, "you better hurry up because next interview is in December and I'll go marry an Italian".... and the fone went beeeeeeeeeeeeep.... signal over. "

Well I had to laugh at that, because once I joked to Byron that after all this....my second husband will be American.   He didn't find that as amusing as me... :hehe:

  13. Called NVC today and spoke to a real person. I called last week and a real person said our case had arrived the day before (May 18) and received the NVC number LNDxxxxxxx. I have called umpteen billion times the automated number, and to this day "no record" our USCIS or NVC numbers. Finally called to speak to a real person again today....and found out our case was sent to the Embassy May 19, the day after it was received. Called the automated portion again to check.....it still says "no record" of either of our receipt/case numbers!! So lesson learned - speak to a real person. Of course I've seen other posts here where you *did* speak to someone who told you one thing....then you receive an email or usps letter saying different. I personally think it's all completely FUBAR. Anyway, based on DHL tracking, London consulate signed for our case yesterday, May 23. So hopefully Byron will receive the Packet 3 soon. He already has everything ready to go, including a medical booked June 8. Fingers crossed, for ALL of you as well as us....

BIG-SMOOOCH to all my Decemberite friends!!

Dizzy, when I saw your post....my heart dropped. Been thinking about how crazy...absolutely flippin' crazy...I would be if that happened to me. I am so sorry....and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you...(and the rest of you waiting as well!)

  14. lol i already paid him so theres no point in getting rid of him now... i didn't want to pay but I thought I was doing the right thing, I figured it would be in my best interest to pay so that things went smoothly.. I was wrong but oh well.

I think getting an attorney was a smart move on our part. We can afford it, and she will make sure all the forms are filled out correctly, mail everything, if something (god forbid) were to go wrong she'd handle it. There is *so* much involved with this process, and I am a government contractor so I know that if something can go wrong, it most likely will (a little tongue-in-cheek humor there). Byron & I just feel better knowing there is a professional taking care of everything we don't have to ourselves. I use this site (and particularly, this forum) for support and information, but ultimately, if I had to do ALL the research myself, I'd go nuts wondering "what if I did this wrong? what if I missed something?". Having an attorney just gives me peace of mind I guess.. :P

  15. grrr speaking of incompetent lawyers.. mine hasn't had the best track record with me. I hired him because I wanted to make sure we did everything right, since we really cant afford to go through this process again any time soon and I live in Mexico with Em, I thought that that little fact might complicate things.

But really the only thing thats complicating this whole process is my lawyer! First he was wrong about which consulate we would be using and now he's wrong about which affidavit of support we need (he thinks we need the I-864, when really we need the I-134) AHH :bonk:

woohoo we're almost all in pink.. just a few more left to go!

Oh Boy - now I am really worried!! Let me tell a quick story - when B & I went the attorney's office end of Nov together, an associate told us we'd get a notification they received our NOA1 in a week or so.....and should be approved in a couple months. NOT kidding. Over 5 months later...finally got NOA2. Not exactly confidence-inducing huh??

  16. Jennifer ... sheesh.... this attorney sounds like one of the legals I know personally who does Immigration law. I told her about VJ and how she should encourage her clients to review this site so it would 'make her job much easier". You know what she said? "I do not want my clients on there, that's why they have me!" So basically in my humble opinion, the less the client knows, the better off they Esquire is because when that client receives a bloody RFE for them not having a specific document(s)... guess what? That attorney has the client 'fix it & submit the documents back to them", which in turn costs the client $$$$$ for them submitting the RFE evidence and a signed letterhead from them! *** now on the other hand? I have a very good friend of mine also in Immi Law and she is so honest, good and very forthright --- really her work is unremarkable. So Kudos to her!!! That being said, I have never believed in "not teaching" so they can learn for themselves.

Now in regards to what your expert legal has advised you? Please check yourself with your embassy as it is stated on the Dept of State Official Website that Byron will require a medical FIRST before his interview. WHY IS YOUR ATTORNEY UNCERTAIN? Ask her why the hell she/he did not check the DOS Official Website herself and tell you and Byron the actual, instead of this BS of tell you NOT TO READ and RESEARCH because it stresses you out! Afterall, THAT IS WHY YOU HIRED HER/ HIM! And what kind of "professional letter" was that!? "I'M NOT CERTAIN".... :bonk:

BTW, if the beneficiary has had the medical before his interview at Embassy, those records can be brought to the AOS medical; there is a place in the actual medical instructions on the DOS site (and it is referenced on our Thread Map under Medical info/ vaccines too from Official Website). I do not think the Official Dept of State website is confusing or inaccurate! If it was, then where has everyone who has gone through this process without an attorney gotten their information from???

Lastly, I got both the hardcopy receipt (says they have received our file) and the eNotification from both the NVC and Embassy within a DAY of them actually having the file! NOT ONE MONTH OR SO LATER. From Ankara Embassy, it says that you can download the documents (DS's forms, etc) from their website and no further packet 3 will be mailed out. I even wrote to find out if that was only for USC Petitioner or for both me and Kadir. They told me both of us. *** REMEMBER EACH EMBASSY IS DIFFERENT, so you can call the Main Dept of State who deals directly with each Embassy to ask. The number is listed on our Thread Map references.

I'm sorry but I disagree with your attorney when it comes to you reading and researching for yourself and Byron. Who's furture and life is it anyhow! If an attorney states they are uncertain, I can tell you right now they would get a scathing letter from me as their client as to WHY they haven't researched FOR ME and put in writing the answer to both ME and my Fiance! Especially, since I am paying them! Right??

You and Byron are going to come through all of this like a champs in the end because you two will be happily married and together!

    Best to you,

    Mari

Are you kidding me???? You :hehe: & :bonk: ME!

Mari, you are right. I HAD written a scathing email response, and sent to Byron for review, and he - being the polite diplomat - told me not to send it and sent his own very nice and polite email about time limits, etc. Sooo....I am still upset but don't want to rock the boat any further :( :(

Honestly, up until today this attorney has seemed brilliant to me. The 'uncertain' comment rocked me though....why am I paying so much money for 'uncertainty'??? Aghhh ohhh I will have to think about this some more!!

  17. Ok, so I sent our immigration attorney this

    Hi *****,

    I have read this:

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United%20Kingdom&cty=London

which shows Byron needs his medical exam before he gets his interview but after he sends his forms? We are confused. We know NVC has our case right now (LND*******), but unsure how to prepare/proceed from here. Byron just booked a medical on June 8. Please let us know what to do from here?

    Sorry, I mean this part:

New info as of mid-October 2010: The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Embassy has received the results of the medical examination, so get the medical acheduled early, but after you have returned the forms and checklist so your files will match up.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    and her response was this:

    Jennifer,

Please see the e-mail below which I had sent earlier when we received the approval. Each Embassy/Consulate is different in their procedures with Fiance visas. However, no matter which Embassy, their procedure is outlined in a mailing that Byron will receive at the address provided on the application. They will have you provide some forms to the Consulate along with some documentation which will be listed on a checklist. I know you are trying to do everything in advance so that you don't have to wait after getting the mailing but you should probably just wait until you get it so you don't waste time collecting items that are unnecessary. It is unlikely that a medical will be required since Byron will have to do one here in the US after entry and before applying for Adjustment of Status (green card). However, they may be requiring this in London now for fiance visas, I can't be certain.

Either way, I would wait until Byron gets that letter in the mail and stop reading websites! That is why you hired us! Websites are confusing and not always accurate. Sometimes they are but sometimes they stress you out more than necessary. Byron should receive something from the Consulate within a month or month and a half of the approval notice. So we'll be on the look out.

    Thoughts Decemberites???

  18. This may have been posted before... but I called NVC and got a tracking number LNDxxxxxxxxxx Does this mean it's been sent? I thought I saw a post about how to track it but can't find it now? I've spent the last 2 weeks crazy about this...Mari and and every one else, if this has been answered already, please remember some of us were in different places when posts and information was made, and may have not paid that much attention to it at the time (I've always paid attention, but gotten so caught up in certain aspects, that I once spent an hour going post to post to find an answer I knew had already been there, so may have missed something vitally important.) My question now is, even though I *know* it's been answered before, is, how do I use the tracking number? I saw a post about tracking to the embassy but I can no longer find it.. :(

  19. By the way guys,

I know that this might have been a fluke, but a pretty good one!

Yesterday morning, I had my fiancée CALL uscis, just to check if we were approved and they said that they haven't processed us yet. Which I accepted since we were not at our 5 month mark yet.. But then last night we got approved... fluke or did that call help?

for you people still waiting on your NoA 2's maybe it's worth a shot just to call in a friendly matter, specially if you are not at your 5 month mark yet

    Worth a shot?? ;)

It very well may be!! I called on Tuesday (one day past the 5 month mark), was told no one was assigned to my case yet....2 days later had our approval! I completely believe my call had something to do with that... :D

  20. We Got It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last processing action taken on your case

*** Please do not respond to this e-mail message.

    Sincerely,

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

I am actually bawling right now....so much time....so much wait....I'm so happy and relieved! Tried to call my sleeping fiance but he didn't answer...

  21. Please can tell me what number to call if the VCS 1800 375-5283 or another number .... thanks!

1-800-375-5283 is the correct number :) After you choose the language (1 for English), choose 2 for case status, then 6 for customer rep. Since our petition is taking longer than the 5 months processing time, they sent a service request for me (they also told me my case had yet to be assigned to anyone grrrr). So hopefully this will get our case moving along.... Good Luck!!
