My wife (LPR) is sending in the I-130 for her son. She saw the current status on F-2a and wanted to know how that would affect the application. The application will go in the mail today.
Thanks in advance.

Okay. That makes sense.

Thanks all. The father is okay for the child to travel but not okay for me to claim step-parent. Somethings about parentage in France.
-
Please explain between family preference and step-parent. i cannot do the step-parent as his father lives in France.

Hello all,
My wife came here two years ago on a K-1 visa. She has two children that live in France (age 9 and 15). One of the children wishes to come here now. I know he could have have come with her in the first year under the K-1 privilege. Its been two years though. Its another question now.
I know she needs to apply now for him, but what does she need to do.
She has filled out the I-130.
How long do these kinds of visas take because I suspect he will qualify under some priority date.
Please help a long lost soul. I made it through the K-1 but this seems more difficult.
Thanks in advance.

You do need a copy of your appointment letter to take to the medical exam in Paris.

VSC was 5 months for us. It just all depends.

We received the biometrics letter about 5 weeks after the NOA1, so hope that helps. i have been told summer is a busy time, so not sure.
Bonne chance!

Do it yourself. Just follow the guides here and you will be fine.

Paris moves very slow. It took them a month to acknowledge the arrival from NVC and 3 more weeks to get out the packet.UGH!!
-
Bienvenue. Glad everything went well.

As the Paris embassy has to approve his visa, he would have to return in France to finish out his wait. Just to be safe, he should carry proof that he will return to France when it is necessary. Return ticket, proof of ownership of property or something that says he will return to France and not stay illegally.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Bonne chance mon ami.

Happy to answer questions. Michele is from near Lille and we live in KY.
Bonne chance.

Be sure and register with the French consulate in your region when you get here. They can assist you with all sorts of things and also assist you with voting for the French national elections. And yes, you can vote in the US with assistance from the consulate.

Congratulations. Can't answer your question but happy for you.

Alyssa,
Go to the embassy portion of VJ and go to Paris. The documentation is pretty clear what you will need.
Paris is not hard to get through and the interview is not difficult. You just have to have all your papers in order.
The interview will be a breeze.
PM me if you have any other questions. We just went through the process.
-
Yes, you need "casier judicaire" no. 3. Don't worry. You should be fine.
-
Michele received her notice yesterday that the adjustment of status was approved. No interview and now we can relax for a year and half. Ah,we survived the process. Thanks to all who answered questions and helped. Since we live in KY, a taste of bourbon seems appropriate.

We carry 500,000. My insurance agent recommended it.

Paris really is easy. When my sweetheart went through, they just wanted the essential papers. Anything else was useless. They did not even look at the skype records, emails, etc.
You are more than good shape. Expect the interview to last no more than 5-10 minutes.
Bonne chance!

hmmm.. if you did all the AOS package,(AOS,EAD and AP), that should do it. What else are they needing?

Hope all things go well. We are with you. Write when you can and keep us posted.
Bonne chance!
