  1. time to whine, after almost 5 months, no green card, i've called uscis a dozen of times, they say my local office is delayed, and they cant do anything... i thought the transfer was supposed to expedite the process :/ oh well. i hate to be out of status, i cant get a student loan... more waiting, i think this k1 process is all wrong and broken.

    end of whining.

my husband is awesome, he is worth all this ####### :D

  3. Hi, I filed my AOS on August from a K1 visa, got my EAD on October, I was admitted to a University, as I can not pay for out of my pocket I completed my FAFSA in order to get a federal loan, which is more convenient than a private loan.

    My question is:

A prove of legal permanent residency is required, I sent a copy of my EAD, they answered me that is not enough and they need my green card, which is not approved yet. I was reading the document, and one of the document they accept is, passport with endorsement A : “Processed for 1-551. Temporary Evidence of Lawful Admission for Permanent Residence. Valid until (date). Employment Authorized.”

I guess that is the stamp nobody gets anymore.

aren't my EAD and NOA1 the same thing that that stamp???

    Thanks for any thought

  4. we filled on august the 24th, one month after that, still no biometris, we called uscis and the said we needed to wait one more month... one week after that i got my app, sometimes they just forget about you, if in 15 days after filling you don't get biometrics, call and bug them, it is the only way.

i got my app for october the 31th, i walked in last week, it took 20 minutes, very easy.

now waiting for the ead and ap... hopefully no rfe.

    hag in there.

  5. i think the right thing would be telling the guy how awesome the deal is, and he will be released of any obligation with the kid, that if you sign this we will not ask you for support or money ever, is not lying is just sell the idea different, explain that the mother will be move and she will be in charge of the kid for ever, need cooperation from him, use grandma, that is a great idea.

start doing this, you do need a lawyer, but not like for fighting is more for the paperwork, prices.... i dont want to give misinformation but between 2k and 3k is a reasonable number. at the beginning dont mention nationalities, they are very willing to drain you, just start the relinquish, say she is gonna move for ever, and after you trust the person, tell the whole deal.

a lot of law schools in colombia have something called "consultorio juridico" the law students give advise for free, that could be a good starting, just go and get some ideas and prices, is a pretty sweet deal.

and no, a marriage doesn't have anything to do with paternity issues.

  6. 1. every country has different migration rules, but i'm almost sure you can relocate with your wife (no matter nationality) in rwanda. i have a colombian frien living in china with her german BOYFRIEND, his company gave her a sponsorship. that is not a big deal.

    2. the kid is an issue.

    3. cultural shock is gonna be massive, we colombians are very attached to our land, food, and family, no matter if we are poor or rich, and rwanda is not the states, from here it takes 6 hours and 600 bucks to get colombia...i would suggest a 6 months try, if rwanda doesnt work, try to relocate, if you can not right now, then wait. a long distance relationship is hard, but it is not impossible, all of us have done it. i have to add that if you really really love someone, you would live under a bridge (i'm not comparing rwanda with a bridge, i'm just saying, and the idea sounds very cool, not like winter in minnesota :P ), but again, when a child is in the middle, the adventure spirit shrinks.

    4. when the time to move to the states comes, start the US migration process, before that it is pointless.

good luck!!! and save a lot of money and patience , this process is expensive, long and annoying.
