  1. Oh No. I got a checklist from NVC, requesting for my Original Marriage Certificate, it was included in the package. When I called them they say it has to come from the "Government Registrar of Marriages from India" Whaat!? What do they mean? We got it from our state registrar's office. I can't beleive this.

We got the same check list request. The Marriage Certificate. Of course, we sent it with the application... and just last week had to do it again.... Same exact document. We are hoping they like this one! :bonk:

We are so ''done' with incompetency and being held "captive" by this process :help:

  2. Hey guys !

just thought i would come with a little tip for those of you who are doing the "last" trip to the U.S... with that i mean, the trip you do when you have your VISA in hand and you are actually MOVING over there like i am about to do ! :)

For some of you this might not be news at all but for me it was... In booking the flight over there for the actuall MOVE ive been scratching my head about HOW to book the flight... i mean i dont know when i will be going back to my home country again (SWEDEN) seeing how i am actually MOVING to the U.S this time and finally getting married to my love and not just "visiting" for a few weeks and then going back to Sweden.

So ive been wanting to book a ONE WAY ticket this time but they r just so damn expensive.. allmost double in price from a round trip ticket in some cases.. so i thought i would book a ticket that is date changable for the eventual trip back to Sweden.. when ever that will be.. pending on A.O.S process and starting to work in the U.S.. i dont really know when i will be going back...? so i called my airline (Delta) that i have been flying with on my trips to see my Fiancé in the past and asked them about this... a date changable ticket for the trip back was even that a little more expensive.. all tho not much.. but i asked them if i could just book a round trip ticktet and then just NOT fly back when ever the date for the trip back would arrive.. and they said that it was fine as long as i called them ahead of time to let them know that i will not be making that fight back to Sweden :)

So to sum it all up.... no need to book a ONE WAY ticket for allmost 2000 dollars, instead i just had to pay 1000.. and if your like me.. 1000 dollars is a lot of money ! so its good to save it when i can ! :)

P.O.E will be at Pittsburgh international airport on April 1:st !! yaaaay !!!

hope this was some help for anyone :)

    Mike

    Yaaaayyyyy to you!!!

  3. Just make sure the marriage certificate is exactly what they describe on Department of State website:

    Marriage Certificates

Available. If the marriage took place after July 1, 1991, the marriage record can be obtained from the local tax office of the Swedish Tax Administration (Skatteforvaltningen), which covers the area of residence at the time of marriage. If the marriage took place before July 1, 1991, an extract from the marriage register (Utdrag Ur Aktenskapsbok) can be obtained from the parish office (Pastorsambetet) or (Personbevis) from the Tax Administration (Skatteforvaltningen).

If it's already what you sent, then tell them you want a supervisor to review the one they already got, cause it is the correct document.

They have the correct document and they are being difficult~ I spoke with supervisor and they said it would be reviewed. So I called a week later and they said that the review said that I needed to send the marriage certificate. So I told them that my husband went back to the TaxAAdministration and got the very same document we had sent with our I130 and that the NVC has! She says...'then send it again'. I told her it is an exact copy of what you have.... then she got aggravated and told me to SEND IT AGAIN!....

It is like talking in circles!

  4. WHat!!!!!! My wife mailed IV today, she did not put case number on the back

    This is the RFE:

Please provide two identical front-view color photographs with a white background as required for each

    visa applicant.

The photos must have the name of the person in the photo printed on the back, along with the case

number associated with the person's photo.

You may download complete instructions by visiting:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4354.html

:bonk: NO where in the instructions does it say to put the case number behind the photos!!!!!! :help:

  5. is this common?

My husband sent the IV pkg-DS 230 from Stockholm via DHL to NVC.

Feb 14 we receive an e-mail:

marriage certificate missing, 2 photographs do not have case number

He sent the marriage certificate. In Sweden all records are on one document. Birth certificate, Marriage Certificate, etc. From the Tax Agency.

He sent 2 photographs but neglected to print the case number on the back, he just put his name on them

I called the NVC and they said that they would look at the marriage certificate again. They cannot accept the photos without the case number and he must send two new photos.

    Wow!

So off goes the same exact document form the tax agency with our marriage certificate and 2 new photos to NVC for Sweden...

    Will this ever end?

  6. Thanks..

But do i have to remove conditions early -if i got a divorce now, or can i wait until two years is up to remove conditions, like normal?

My issue is i cant afford the ROC fee right now. As well as the divorce fees. But i might get a divorce next month so i can try and get the car back. I cant afford to pay for both right now. He wont pay for it, he has no job right now, or any money!!

How long does it take for them to divide up assests? Just one car? If he moves state, i may not get the car back, as i wont be able to find him.....

I dont know what im doing but id like to give it a go here. I guess theres a part of me that still hopes we can it work out... even though i know its not a good idea after what hes done.

I am sorry for your dilemma.

Divorce in the USA is very different State to state. Look up Divorce in PA on the web. Read up on it. Each state has different laws regarding property acquired during the marriage (your car) regardless on whose name it is under. Some states allow divorces in 6 months when there are no children... others one year. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Don not rely on his interpretation of the law... they say love is blind... don't be foolish!!!

  7. Wow! Yes it is a big thing to bring your spouse over and yes that document puts a burden on you if you decide to split up but surley this can not have come as a surprise to you?

If my husband started to have these kinds of thoughts this late in the process as you guys are I'd be well upset!

Have you talked to your spouse about your fears?

Yes, we have both spoken about this document and he is AGAST that I have to sign it.

I want cheese with my whine!! lol

  8. This topic causes me to wonder, if you were to get a divorce, does the I-864 still obligate you to financially provide for the person? I know the way my marriage is set up if I was to divorce, I pay her family approximately $6000 and that's it. A lot different than USA divorce!

YES!!!! this is a contract between you and the US Government and the government will only release you of providing for the person, once they become US citizens, you die, or after they have contributed 10 years into the system!

  9. Yes.

    What's scary about it?

You are agreeing to provide for your spouse and if you're married, you've already made that vow.

Where in the vows do you agree to provide for your spouse forever ? regardless of divorce... until they decide to become citizens. Heck... I don't have to legally provide for my children after they are 18!

For us over 50... with good jobs, adult children, homes in two countries and a mutual prenuptial, this document is still flawed!
