  1. My fiancée received a blue slip at her interview in April, which requested a "detailed" resume from both her and myself. We compiled the resumes into a Pdf file and sent them to the same Guangzhou e-mail address as you described.

After a about a week from the time I sent the resumes, I used Guangzhou's website to ask if they received the resumes, hoping to get some information on how long the process would take. They e-mailed back and said they received the resumes and that they would send my fiancée a letter when they had finished the administrative review.

She received a letter approximately 1 month later to go back to Guangzhou and get her visa. She did and everything went well.

We never knew why they needed both our resumes and it was difficult wondering how long we would be in administrative review, but eventually they approved the visa.

I would go ahead and e-mail them using the Guangzhou website to make sure they received your resume and to have peace of mind.

    Good luck

  2. Hello,

I wanted to post that my fiancée has finally been approved for a K-1 Visa. Our case had been in Administrative Review since her interview at the Guangzhou Consulate on April 27th.

I had spent many hours on the VJ web site reading and learning before I started this K-1 process and continued learning each step of the way. This web site proved to be a valuable source of information in that I don't believe that I could have been properly prepared without the help of Visa Journey.

My fiancée was prepared as anyone could possibly be going into the interview. We were very fortunate that we had many things in our favor that sometimes cause problems for other people going through this process. Our relationship was well established with several trips made to China to visit my fiancée. My fiancée was able to speak and articulate in English without any problems during her interview and I had no problems proving that I could financially support her and her son. With that being said, we were surprised to receive a blue slip from Guangzhou during the interview requesting detailed resumes from my fiancée and from myself. We were confused and anxious because no explanation was given by the Visa Officer other than submit the resumes.

It is easy to let a person's emotions get in the way when something unexpected like this happens. However, we learned that the best course of action is to just let the consulate do their job and give them what they ask for. So all I can share from my experience is that you have to be patient in this process.

I would like to thank the many people who spend countless hours on this site providing answers to people who are trying to go through their own unique visa journey.

    Thanks again.

  3. Is a medical exam with + for Syphilis an automtic visa admistravit review or other type of review that will delay a visa? Not a denial I know, but will she get a visa if she pass the interview day. If a medical fails would that be a no visa chance in the present time?

Bad news is never good news..

I have a question. Why do you specifically think that the results of the medical exam could indicate Syphilis? Did the medical clinic say these words to you or did you hear by third party that the medical exam shows positive for Syphilis? This very same thing happened to my fiancee last month and we were both in shock. She frantically went to a different hospital to have another blood test in order to obtain a second opinion. It turned out that the results were negative from both tests and my fiancee recieved the medical report on Tuesday instead of Wendsday, as was originally told to her.

So just try to calm down and wait for the official results. If your wife wants to talk to my fiancee then I can provide you with her contact info. My fiancee says that she would be more than happy to help her with any questions.

  4. My fiancée received a blue slip and white slip during her K-1 interview in Guangzhou. The blue slip requested further documents and the white slip gave the details on what documents were needed. They requested detailed resumes of both the petitioner and the applicant.

It appeared that they were satisfied that we had a bona fide relationship based on the type of questions that were asked by the VO. We were as prepared as anyone could possibly be going into the interview, so it is not a question of lacking documents. My income was not an issue either.

I contacted Marc Ellis to get his opinion on this matter. He said that normally they would not ask for the petitioner’s resume but do ask for the applicant's resume sometimes. We are not sure if it is truly the resumes they desire or if more time is needed to review something else.

My fiancée has a difficult time understanding this bureaucratic process of the US government trying to make the bean fit into the exact place.

  5. I always bring back a good supply of Green Tea whenever I visit China. I declare it as "Packaged Tea" on the customs form when arriving back inside the US and I have never had any issues. Some of the tea is loose and not always in a factory sealed package.

As far as mailing packages through China Post. The rates are very expensive if the package is shipped for express delivery. It is less expensive to have it sent regular post but your waiting time will be longer.

  6. My fiancée mentioned that salt is also hard to obtain in Sichuan province. They don't seem to be buying the salt for the Potassium iodide but because they fear that somehow sea salt is now unsafe.
