  1. Okay, I'm 23yrs old and according to the vaccination requirements I need to have the HPV jab, which'll cost £120.00 if I have it done at Knightsbridge. I was hoping to get it done through my local GP on the NHS, but from what I've read it's a 3-part-vaccination that is done over the course of a year. Eeep! Does anyone know if the one at Knightsbridge is just on single jab and that's it...?

  2. Bit of a stupid one, but I want to be 100% sure I've got the answer right here.

My son is a dual-citizen, he holds an American & a British passport. On the forms I need to complete it asks who will immigrate with me. Well he is moving with me to the US, obviously, but would he be technically immigrating because he already is a US citizen? So do I leave him out of the forms? It's only me who is applying for a visa so he doesn't count, right?

  3. I know this has been asked a hundred times, but my Googlefu fails me and I cannot find the answer I'm looking for.

My husband (US citizen) is the Sponsor. He's just left the military, is back in the US and is currently unemployed. His Dad (US citizen) who lives in the same house as him has agreed to be the co-sponsor.

    QUESTION ONE:

So, if I've got this right, my husband fills out i-864 and my husband's father fills out i-864a, yeah? Does my husband's father also need to fill out i-864?

    QUESTION TWO:

On the i-864 form, what box does my husband tick for Part 1? Box a, the petitioner? Box e, the first of two joint sponsors? If my husband's father has to fill out the same form, what does he then tick?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. One thing -- we're really hoping to be in the USA by early June (I've been offered a job that starts on June 16), but time is now getting a bit short. Do you think if we asked them nicely to process our i-130 second attempt quickly, they might do it? As far as I can tell, actually processing it only takes the officer an hour or two, but it takes 3 weeks or so for them to get to it. If we plead, I wonder if they'll do ours quickly, since we've already sent it once?

They wont process the visa quicker no matter how much you beg and plead. However the Dublin embassy is pretty fast so you might be lucky. Don't get your hopes up though!

  5. There's definitely nothing stopping you both getting the rest of the paperwork ready to be posted, just leave the dates blank & have a quick double-check before you have to send them off to make sure no info has changed since you filled them out! I filed in Feb and already have my police certificate in my hands as I applied for it the same day I sent off my first lot of forms to the Embassy, it's valid for 12 months AFAIK. My husband has filled out his portion of the I-184 forms and we're just waiting for his Dad in the US to get his section completed too. I, like you, want everything organised and ready to rock 'n roll for when I get the green signal for the next part of this process.

I wouldn't pin your hopes on getting the visa in hand by July 1st. The London office is super-busy and looks to be pretty backlogged right now. You guys probably wont get your NOA2 for another few months yet.. And then you've still got to go through the medical/interview.

  6. I tried breastfeeding, but my son has a tongue-tie (we're getting it sorted soon hopefully, waiting on his doctor!) so I have expressed using a breast pump since day one. We had a very traumatic birth as well and breastfeeding was impossible for the first 10 days as he was in intensive care. I struggled with my c-section recovery too so pumping was much easier than dealing with a baby at the #######. He is now 4 months old and I'm still expressing for him. In my opinion it doesn't matter how he's getting my milk, as long as he is getting it! I am definitely in the mindset that formula is "okay", but you cannot beat the benefits of breast milk. I've even received 80oz of free donor milk because I refuse to give him formula when my milk supply drops.

  7. Okay, I'm really confused here. On their website it says as of 7th Feb 2011 they're processing applications received in Oct 2010.. However I've read on other forums that they're applications were processed within weeks! ...But some places are saying 5-6months is the wait time for the visa. So, by my calculations, my form wont get processed until approx June 2011 (if they remain 4 months behind).. So it'll be 5-6 months after that, which'll bring us to December 2011! That's crazy! Please someone tell me that's wrong! My husband leaves the military in April and is returning to the states. We planned for me, and our 4 month old son, to remain here in the UK with family until my visa (and our son's American passport) have arrived.. But December 2011?!!?!?!
