The i-693 will be in the sealed packet that you hand over when you do your POE. I just had a situation where my visa packet was lost and I was required to get a new medical in the US to complete AOS. Toronto refused to provide me a copy.

My visa packet was lost as well although I entered on a K1 visa. Luckily I only had to get a new medical. Do you have receipts or anything showing your previous payments?

I had my AOS interview today and the interview itself was easy, we just went over all of the questions on the I-485 form and the only other question that we were asked was how we met. We were advised that the greencard would be approved but there was a problem; my visa packet including my medical results were never received at the USCIS office. Now I am trying to track down the packet through the Detroit Tunnel or see if I can get a copy from Dr. Seiden's office in Toronto. If this fails I have to go for another medical and pay the fee again! This is very frustrating! I can't believe they are not more careful with these documents.

I am not trying to jinx you, but there is no guarantee that you will pass the interview. Having the EAD card can be very handy in my book. DMV would not let my wife take the Instruction Permit test because she has no papers showing her legal status from USCIS.

I know there is no guarantee but I am not worried because we have more than enough proof that we have a bona fide marriage. I already have my drivers license here in the US so I don't have to worry about that.

My EAD was finally approved today but since our AOS interview is next Monday the card will almost be pointless by the time I get it.

There hasn't been an update on my EAD/AP since November 17th. We have our AOS interview on February 6th. I guess we won't be receiving EAD/AP before that.

It is at the same location where you had your biometrics appointment (Jefferson Ave E)if you have not yet received your hard copy of the AOS appointment.

My marriage license was also signed in my maiden name under "bride's name" .. couldn't sign it under my married name since we had not been married yet. I had no problems getting my SSN in my married name, providing my passport and marriage certificate. I think you just ran into someone who didn't know what they were talking about

Michigan requires a marriage license to be signed in your married name, every state is different.

Did you attempt a walk-in for biometrics at Detroit, and if so, was it successful?

I did do a walkin yesterday in Detroit and it was successful. They made it clear that they do not like to take walkins but luckily made an exception. It would probably help if you have some proof that you will be out of town on the appointment date. I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

I did complete my biometrics appointment in Detroit yesterday by walking in. They definitely made it clear that they do not like walk ins and at first I thought I was going to get turned away. I would probably only try it if you have some type of proof that you will be out of town because they were asking for that. I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

...Ugh. I know our officiant does tons of weddings, I can't believe he got this wrong.

I guess I'm going to go and change my name on my SSN first thing on Monday so I have that issued in my married name, too.

And hopefully when they're processing my AOS they won't have any trouble with it since the signatures are so interchangeable anyway? Ugh.

When I did my POE, the officer entered my first and middle name as one so when I applied for my SSN, they couldn't find my name at first and than he had to do a name change for me so that showed correctly in the system. All these little problems...

Okay, I called USCIS.

-First representative was very helpful, said he could already see the documentation from my biometrics appointment about the name. He verified that I was following the correct procedure to have the green card issued in my married name but he was going to transfer me to the next tier to make sure the guy today didn't cause any issues. I was quite impressed with this representative.

-The next representative (Tier 2 I guess?) Confirmed again that i hadn't done anything wrong. He said that the fact they submitted my biometric data under my maiden name wouldn't impact anything as my paperwork was filed under my married name and as long as I submitted evidence of the marriage with the AOS package (specifically a certified copy of the marriage certificate) the card will be issued under my married name. He did specify that "All AOS applications get an interview" and that I could further verify this name information there if there's any problems. He also recommended that I file a complaint against the supervisor at the ASC when I have this interview...

...so I'm hoping all the worry today was over nothing and that the supervisor at the ASC was... I don't know, completely wrong? I can't be the first woman to go in there with a marriage certificate and passport, so it baffles me...

Edit: our marriage certificate is a certified copy of the licence we signed issued by the county. It doesn't state my married name anywhere, only biographic data for both myself and my husband then "signature of groom" "signature of bride" and the information for our witnesses/officiant. Then its printed at the bottom that it's registered as having been filed and is a true and exact copy etc, confirming the marriage actually took place and was registered.

When we applied for our marriage license in Michigan, we were specifically told it had to be signed in my married name(Michigan requires this). So sorry your officiant told you the wrong information. When I applied for my MI Driver's License, they accepted my married name because by SSN is in my married name and I also brought in the AOS NOA's showing my married name. Hope you don't have any further problems.

I just got my biometrics appointment also for December 27th!! I have not heard anything about walk-ins where I'm going... Jefferson in Detroit. I think I will stick with the appointment! Yay!

Thanks! May I ask how detailed your list was? I have a list that is really detailed, as in one lamp, china plates, electric alarm clock, etc.

But I was thinking I should streamline it for the border as in "Kitchen", "household - books etc."

I am guessing you would approve of the more detailed list?

I had all of the boxes numbered and did have a somewhat detailed description: cookware, glassware, women's clothing, etc.

I also forgot to mention that I had filled out Customs Form 3299 but I don't think they asked for it. It's probably better to have just in case.

My husband did this for me a few weeks ago and crossed the Ambassador Bridge with no problems. Just make sure that he has a copy of your K-1 visa, I-94 Card and a list of your inventory as the customs officer asked him to read off all the items (and it was a full uhaul ). They x-rayed the UHaul but didn't search it. Overall it went very smooth and was painless.

I actually find the Customs Agents friendlier at the bridge than the tunnel and before I moved to the US, I crossed 2-3 times per week.

I sent my AOS package in on October 24th, according to delivery tracking it was received on October 26th, I have not received an NOA and the check has not been cashed. I'm closer to being a November filer than October so I joined this thread. I guess I'll wait 30 days before calling but I'm hoping it doesn't take that long.
