  1. Hi,

We recently received our appointment letter via email for an interview at the Mumbai consulate. The only missing document that we are requested to bring with us is the Passport Clearance on the day of the interview. However, we heard that you have to submit original documents to the VFS and that they give you a receipt. We do not have any original documents as we submitted them all in when we sent in the DS 230.

Please help us as we do not know what to submit to the VFS???and is it really necessary(to me it seems like a hassle for no reason)

Dont worry...u only need to submit a PCC from Passport Office. If u have not Obtained it yet, do immediately. For that u will have to first apply for District PCC in the area where u currently stay, after u get Local PCC fill form no. 2 from passport office website and go at ur state passport office along with Interview Letter from NVC and 2-3 proofs of residence. Also attach a photocopy of local PCC. Original Local PCC u will have to submit at VFS. Thats it.

Now, all the documents that u submitted at NVC, just take photocopies of all along with PCC at VFS i.e.

    1. copy ur own birth certificate

    2. copy of ur marriage certificate

    3. filled DS-230 forms as submitted at NVC, dont write the date...if VFS personnel require they will ask u to again submit new DS-230 forms.

    4. copy of ur passport

    5. payment receipt of IV fee from NVC web portal and AOS fee receipts.

well...almost all these r the documents required.

  2. Hello there Im new on this website.

My Name Is Yesenia Im 20 Years Old And now I became curious about my legal status.Parents brought me to this country when I was 9 years old I came in with Visa (MEXICO), My father became resident back in 2007 with My sister (USC). He then yet submitted I 130 Immigrant Petition for Relative Fiance(E) OR Orphan Unmarrried Child under 21 pf Permanent Resident. My receipt date is February 22, 2008 and Priority date Feb 18,2008. Notice date is March 10 2010. California Service Center

My question is I ask my dad whats next and he doesnt know we have a lawyer The one who help my dad become a Resident. I wanna know whats the status on priority date or if I have to fill out a form Im getting scared because I turn 21 on July 16 will that effect anything.

Also My Fiance wants to get married to help me out but I dont know if thats a good Idea.

Any help I can get will be great thanks!!!!!! :help:

Well....currently ur Category is F2A- Spouses & Children under 21 of Permanent residents and ur chargeable country is Mexico. Currently the PD on State Dept's Visa Bulletin for F2A is Jan 1 2008, but since ur chargeable country is Mexico the PD for Mexico is 1 April 2005, so u r nearly 3 years back of ur date becoming current.

Now, if u turn 21, ur category will be converted from F2A to F2B- Unmarried Sons & Daughters of Permanent Residents. But ur PD will be the same. Now, the PD for F2B for Mexico is way behind i.e 1 July 1992 so a gap of 16 years.

In the mean time if ur Father becomes USC then it will again get converted from F2B to F-1-Unmarried Sons & Daughters of USC retaining old PD. Again PD for F-1 for Mexoco is 22 Jan 1993...not much Difference.

Well...if u want to Immigrate United States early ur second option is better i.e Marrying a USC and immigrating as an Immediate relative...coz there is no cut off dates of Spouses of USC and visas are immediately available for them.

But u haven't mentioned whether ur Fiance is USC????

  3. Dear VJers,

Husband in the US is now concluding the I-130 Package. Please can you give us some definite answer if wife's Birth Certificate shall be included by the petitioner in the submission of I-130 package? My husband is saying it should be included he found it from somewhere too.

I asked because my Birth certificate so blurred but it's the one I've got which is authenticated by National Statistic Office in the Phils. I cannot improve it. However, I've read from some they'd included, but from other Filers I've searched from the net, they did not, and also from the Guide it says it's not needed, http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1. What really is the actual happening? Did you get I-130 approved with or without it?

Please I need your answer on urgent. Thanks a lot, Graceful

No, ur Birth Certificate is not required for ur case. u have to sent a completed form G-325A for urself and petitioner Husband and 2 photographs of urs.

BC is required if father is petitioning his child, it is not required for spouses petitioning for their wife/husbands.

But u will require copy of ur Marriage Certificate to be sent at USCIS.

  4. my i-864 fee have been payed a week (January 23,2011) now and i am yet to receive my Receive I-864 Package .

my question is How long does it take to receive the package?

my Invoice status is payed,it has been since January 24,2011

Well....u wont receive any I-864 Package, Just go to ur Invoice Status Page and print Document Barcoded Cover Sheet, Download Form I-864 from NVC Website and fill it, and send supporting documents as required for form I-864.

Do it quickly...dontwait fro any package from NVC

  5. In my own case I got SIF and CC on the same day. Called AVR immediately after I got SIF and got CC. Interview date 2 days after CC.

    Jan 11 - SIF & CC

Jan 14 - Interview Appointment Letter

Dublin consulate is not as busy so interview scheduling doesnt take as long as many many others.

But after SIF, does it mean that NVC is planning to schedule the Interview..coz lot many people's cases have been completed since months but their SIF is not done yet...they r still able to login their account....

First my CC on Dec 30 2010

    SIF on Jan 24 2011...

Also, my Category is not current now....affected by Retrogression past 2 months...

May be they r planning to move PD forward in upcoming bulletin....

  6. Hi There:

A few questions with regard to our DS-230... we have typed this and printed it; however, is it possible to handwrite in where certain things do not fit? (e.g. address is longer than the blank allows) Or is it really better to just attached a continuation page?

And finally - whilst my fiance's father is listed on his birth certificate, he's never met him and knows nothing about him. For his father's date of birth, is it simply all right to write UNKNOWN?

    Thanks,

    Kristin

Yaa..u can surely Hand write the form and fill it....but dont fill it half computer printed and half hand written....

it is better to either Handwrite it fully or fill it thru computer

well....regarding ur fiance's father..i would recommend u to talk with NVC representatve first and then fill the form....coz atleast u have to mention one's dad's DOB even if u have not met him....

  7. From peoples experiences that I've heard the NVC schedules information at any time, but they like to keep us thinking otherwise so they wont be disturbed much.

The actual interview date you get depends on how busy your consulate is or whether you are affected by 'retrogression' etc. I'd say just keep your fingers crossed and wait, there is nothing else for you to do at this stage but wait. Good luck!

Thanz for ur reply....well..i must keep my fingers crossed....hope to get an Interview soon...

will ask my petitioner to talk with NVC Representative ...

  8. Yes, that means you are done with NVC. You'll be waiting to have your interview scheduled. Congratulations and good luck!

Well...Thanx..but does this mean that NVC will schedule my Interview in a very short time period..since SIF only occurs when NVC is planning to schedule Interview for one's case....

Generally NVC schedules Interviews at the end of month or 1st and 2nd week of coming month...

so can i expect Interview for March 2011 ????? may be April 2011????

  9. Hi guys...i just logged on to my account and the following message was displayed:

    Sign In Failed

    * Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

My case was completed on Dec 30 2010 and today 25-Jan 2011 Sign-In failed....

can anyone tell me what does it mean???????

whether i will be Scheduled for IV Interview??????

  10. Hi guys..i'm from India.F-1..well my case is completed at NVC and i have submitted PCC from District and Passport Office at NVC.

Now with this retrogression, if i am scheduled for Interview after 6 months or more will i have to obtain new PCC for my Interview or the one submitted will be ok??

Also, can anyone tell me how much is validity of Passport Office PCC and District Police Station PCC from date of issue?????

  11. Hi,

I have been living here in the US for 4 yrs and have an unconditional green card, my husband and I have decided to separate and I am returning to England soon. What if anything should I do with my green card? can I/should I surrender it as I leave the country? I don't want there to be any issues if I or my daughter ever return for a visit in the future.

    Thanks in advance.

    Maz

It is better to wait for some time in US, ger US Citizenship..then u will ger Dual Citizenship of US and UK both...u can then live in UK...well..people r waiting for years and decades to get GC...u hav it...so why waste this opportunity....in future u can travel back to US easily....rather than giving or surrendering ur GC...

    Dont surrender it....

  12. I am filing to get my hubby here in the U.S. He lives in England, although he is not a citizen there, just resident.

    My questions are the following:

on the G-345a- I know i have to file One for me and one for him, but at the end of the form, it states "APPLICANT SIGNATURE, AS well as a box to print the APPLICANT NAME" my question, is for his G-345a, do i put my name ( the petitioner), or his name? and how about the signature, mines or his ( since i am not with him at the moment) ???

Also, can anyone just give me a checklist of everything needed to complete the filing got I 130?

Thank you, I just signed for this site, for i am a newbie =P

Well..u cannot sign on behalf of ur Husband/Wife....only they r required to sign their forms....so it will be better that u ask ur husband to download the form and fill in n sign n send it to u....

regarding checklist it is all mentioned in USCIS website what to send...u can refer that.....

  13. NVC requested me for the Civil documents in July 2010, I sent all the documents along with Police Clearance Certificate(PCC) in August 2010, eventually my case was completed on Oct 2010. Last e mail reply I received from NVC states that I will need current PCC at the time of interview. Since birth I have lived in different parts of the country. I already got the PCC from all the places I resided and have submitted. I have following questions -

    1) Do I need to obtain PCC again from all the places I previously resided with current date or I need PCC only from my last residence(which will complete the clearance till date)

    2) Do I need to get PCC from the Regional Passport Office? I have already submitted Regional passport office PCC to NVC and have it on my passport too.

    Kindly give your expert opinion.

    Thanks for your time.

If u r from India then u only need only PCC from Passport office in the state u stay and PCC from District Police Office where ur residence is....

u dont need PCC from all places where u have lived since reaching age of 16 ...so relax...this rule is not for India....Different Countries have different PCC as per Reciprocatory .....

Also, now NVC asks for only Passport Office PCC....only....District office PCC is also not required but since Passport Office PCC is issued from Local PCC...u can have both....

  14. Its not yet posted on NVC Website but Mumbai Consulate have published Feb '2011 VB...Bad news for F4 applicants retrogression by 2 years back to Jan '2000

    Immigrant Visas

    Cut-Off Dates for Immigrant Visas

We are pleased to announce the February 2011 cut-off dates for immigrant visas for individuals born in India and those born in most other countries.

To qualify for an appointment, an applicant's priority date (the date that the petition was filed) must fall before the cut-off date for the appropriate category.

The following numbers are derived from the Department of State's Visa Bulletin. If you have additional questions about cut-off dates and your case is being processed at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, please e-mail us or call us at +91-22-2363-7407 between 2 and 4 p.m. IST.

    well....bad luck for F4 applicants....

  15. look....it is better to do everything officialy specially with US Visa...

If they smell sumthg is wrong with ur case.or u r married n still applying on unmarried basis..u can be abandoned from US for 10 years....so just wait for ur PD to be current...n have already submitted all ur paperwork with NVC....so just wait for ur case to be completed and then ur Interview....go to US and then come back and marry and file for ur wife and kids....

Another option is that if u r not eager to go US quickly n want to stay with ur wife and kids...better inform them that u r now married n convert ur category from F1 to F3...

Only benefit u will get is the old PD of 2007..but keep in mind currently for F3 the PD on State Dept's VB is Jan '2001...so u will hav eto wait for more than 5 + years to go US....

Now, even if u go US as unmarried and return back , thn marry n then file...ur wife n kids will get US within 2-3 yrs...maximum of 4 yrs which is far better than 5 + years...

it's ur cholce....but dont do anythg Unofficially

  16. I've read a number of people writing about Sign In Fail (SIF) and just got that message a few minutes ago. I just want to be sure because there is more to the message than anyone has commented on. It says:

    "Sign In Failed

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error."

Does this mean that my case is completed and will be on its way to the Embassy soon?

Yes this means that NVC will now schedule ur IV Interview and u will receive ur Interview Letter very soon...

    Congrats n Best of Luck...

can u please mention ur IV Category and PD????

  17. simply write a letter to NVC informing them that the petitioner is now a US citizen.

As a proof send photocopies of His US Passport and Naturalization Certificate..

also mention ur case details.i.e. ur name n dob and petitioner's name and DOB..u will be then considered under Immediate Relative Category and ur Interview will be scheduled within a very short time...

Just it will depend upon the US Consulate's Work load.....otherwise u dont have to wait for ur case to be current ..it will be current automatically...
