Thank you guys for the quick response! She will just keep her maiden name for now.

For a Petitioner (woman) who just got married, would you guys recommend doing a name change prior to filing the I 130 for husband?
Petitioner is a permanent resident but she is due for citizenship this year. She wants to file the I 130 for her husband as a permanent resident.
Thanks!

You will hv to have them adjust that birth certificate to what you filled out before if possible. Stick with what you hv filled out before with the date and name. Let them go adjust those papers to the info they gave you before. Otherwise you run the risk of trying to explain this.

Thank you! That was helpful!

So my dad, a citizen is in process of bringing over his son to the US. This will be his 2nd one since becoming a citizen. We have submitted the Choice of agent. NVC said he does not have to pay affidavit of support fee again so they have the status as "paid.' My question is this, we want to pay for the Immigrant Visa Fee but how do we get the "fee invoice"? Would I be right to think that maybe they are waiting on us to submit the financial supporting document before issuing the "fee invoice"? otherwise what is the next step? The website is allowing us to make payment for the IV. Thanks in advance

Thanks guys! Would you advice to file for IR 1 with as a petmanent resident or wait to obtain citizenship in 2 years?

Hi everyone! question.
For married permanent resident (2 more yrs before citizenship), is it better to file k3 or IR for spouse (no children)?

My brother is waiting along with everyone else!

My bro just received his visa after waiting for abt 6 years. Unlike my other siblings, no DNA evidence required! The last two had to get one....no picture evidence either just one piece of letter from 6 years ago the petitioner, my dad wrote him. So grateful.

Just update. My brother did receive invite and had interview on June 14. No surprise they wanted DNA-evidence. My brother is currently scheduled to go back on July 8 for his sample collection. Then we wait for result and a second invite to hopefully get his Visa. Why they don't ask for DNA as part of evidence to bring in initially is what I don't get!

The bulletin has like 6days to catch up to your brother's PD. Usually by now you should have heard something from the NVC not the embassy about document intake or at least updating what they on file. Give NVC a call and hear what they tell you. They probably will need an updated affidavit of support and police certificate. Of course you could request to bring the current versions with him to the interview instead of mailing again to NVC.
Best wishes.
Ndu thank u so much. We will call NVC.
Good luck

Helo everybody! Just bumping, F2B has been silent for a while there!

My brother,s F2B priority date is coming up soon, May 21, 2005, My question is should he have heard something from the consu;late by now? Before retrogression he had completed the last paper with the Nigerian consulate and was waiting to be given an interview date by the consulate. knowing how mails and communication can be in Nigeria (unreliable) how do we find out (after his priority date) what his interview date is?
Is there anything we can do meanwhile in preparation, like document-wise. We had sent all papers including affidavite os finacial support before retrogression hit.
Thanks in advance and goodluck with your journey!

What are the chances of obtaining a visiting visa for the purpose of a conference, if one is already waiting for an immigrant visa to be approved or for priority date to become current? has anyone had luck getting the visitors visa?

The US Constitution is silent on marriage for two reasons. The first reason is that marriage is not a Federal issue, and the second, more important, is that marriage was not a matter for government at all when the Constitution was written.
Marriage predates the Constitution. Marriage was around for thousands of years before the Constitution was written, and everyone knew what it was. The legalities of marriage, such as marriage licenses and the like, are products of the twentieth century, and were created to protect an existing institution.
i am just saying i should be able to as a usa citzen marry whom i choose and bring them here as long as they are not a criminal or threat to anyone and am upset i jumped through govermental hoops and the best they could come up with was my age
If u do not have a lawyer, get one and see where u go from here.

hope God answers ur prayer...

Soon doesn't mean within a few days. But when you receive Choice of Agent request (which is the 1st requirement) it means that your case is expected to be current within 90 days (or up to 6 months).
Or even more, see my signature, one of my brother's case (F2B) has been completed since 02/2011! thats depressing!

F1 priority date is 15OCT04. The only way to say your priority might be current soon is when you receive an interview date. Other than that, it's just paperwork they are doing.
I thought as much, Just venting! When is the correction going to come (post retro)????

Just make sure she has your home address and phone number (possibly cell phone which u will have with you at the airport while u wait on the other side) If they have issues they will call u on the phone. She will be fine, I went through that with my mom (not once either, she has being going and coming for yrs)

My brother is a permanent resident (he will due to file for Naturalization in 2021) and his wife who he petitioned for had their child while waiting for case to get to NVC. Now case is at NVC. Should they notify NVC of their baby? If so, how? Thanks in advance!
