  1. Hello all,

Congratulations to all of you who have already gone through the interview process.

My interview was in Newark NJ, last week on Monday September 23rd at 1pm. Everything went smoothly, the last oath ceremony was held at around 4:45pm.

I applied for my passport on Friday 27th and used expedited service, however i have not received my passport yet. They said 2-3 weeks, but I expect to receive the passport today or Monday. By the way, i went to the post office last week Tuesday and had to wait for one hour in line and only 6 people ahead of me, it was SO Annoying, those people are so slow, i decided to cut my losses and go another day.

When i check my passport application status, it just became available yesterday, it says the application is being processed.

So my question is, does it ever say when the passport is mailed out or does it get stuck at "being processed". I ask this because my mom's application of last year says it is in the final stages of being processed but obviously she has had her passport in hand for over a year. Also, even though i registered my email for updates, i was not emailed when the application status became available. Here, i must say that USCIS is much better at email notifications.

    Thanks.

  2. My interview was at 2 pm, but I wasn't called until about 3:10. Still made it to the last oath ceremony that day (I should mention that my interview lasted about 45 minutes), they actually started it late, around 4:50 to make sure everyone goes through.

    Good luck!

Excellent! That is very good to know, i was worried my interview was scheduled so late i would have had to go back another day for the ceremony. Thank you so much for the information, now I can stress less (since it was difficult getting tomorrow afternoon off to begin with, another day would have been hard).

Congratulations once more :). I hope you got your passport already!

  3. Hello everyone!

I passed my interview today! Amazingly, took same day oath even with the (unplanned) name change.

Sorry I have been silent for so long, it's just that my case is not at all straightforward and I was not sure about the outcome to be honest.

    Can you please update:

    IL 08/05/13

    ID, OL, OD 09/09/13

Thanks and good luck to those with upcoming interviews and awaiting updates!

    Congratulations!

What time was your interview? I have mine tomorrow at 1 pm and I am not sure i will be able to do the oath ceremony the same day. I was also thinking of going early morning.

    thanks!

  4. Hello,

I have my citizenship interview appointment coming up at 1pm in Neward NJ in a few weeks.

I was wondering if anyone has gone to their appointment within the SAME DAY but at an earlier time. Ideally, I would go at 7:30 am and check in if they let me. Not sure if it is a first come first serve, and while i realize the letter says to arrive earlier than 30minutes prior to the appointment, I would like to go earlier.

    Thanks!

  5. That makes no sense.

SSA does not confirm citizenship status, only the original Certificate of Citizenship that you send them does. SSA would be better first only because you don't have to hand out you CoN. My parents did their passport, express of course and everything was fine. SSA can be updated after passport in my opinion.

Finally, the reason SSA gets updated is not to "un-restrict" it because it already is, however it is to gain FULL social security benefits now that you are a U.S. Citizen.

I have heard it's better to do SSA first and then US passport.

I have heard that sometimes the US passport processing will get delayed or sent back since their database won't be able to confirm the immigration status of US citizenship - which comes from SSA. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

I am not sure if I should apply for a US passport or wait until SSA part is completed.

  6. I think this is due to the fact they can only schedule for interview for those truely pass their 3 years LPR. If you were to apply in March, you would probably wait like the rest of us who applied 90 days before the 3 years.

Also, i thought 90 days period was only for those who have to do 5 year residency. It does not really matter at this point.

  7. Hello everyone,

I had my bio metrics done last week and yesterday received an email and my case is in line for interviewing. This is going rather fast, it almost makes me wish i had applied when i was eligible in March.

Has anyone gone to the interview yet? I am curious how how after the oath ceremony (Which takes place on the same day as the interview here in NJ), ti would take to get my passport.

  8. Hello,

I am a LPR, gained this status through DV Lottery. I have been an LPR for 5 years and have just recently filed my N-400. I am currently married but filing for divorce very soon. I filed the application as married. If the divorce goes through before my interview, will it cause an issue with my application? Again my LPR status was NOT based on marriage.

    Thank you.

  9. Hello Fellow June filers,

I just sent my package today. 06/19/2013

Lewisville office Express mail, it should be there tomorrow morning.

One thing though I added my a# behind the photos but forgot to add my name. Should be ok right?

Anyone has an idea on how long the process takes?

    Good luck to all!

  10. Dear January Filers,

I sent my AOS package February 1st 2013 to the Chicago office. So i am almost a january filer, but not.:) Just have a quick question for you all. I completed my biometrics March 12th when i was scheduled. I saw it on the uscis web site that they updated my i-485 to Testing and Interview stage on March 20th. Since then I haven't received anything in the mail, and i am anxiously waiting to get the interview date already. I also signed up for e-mail and text updates on March 30th. My question is when they sent out your interview date letter did they update it and post the date on USCIS web site as well? or I should just wait until it gets here in the mail. I am just worried I signed up for the text/ e-mail updates too late cause it's already day 12 now after they updated to testing and interview stage. I just think that it's possible that we just still in line and the Tampa office is busy.

Hello, for us it did. We got the interview and testing ( case is in line for interview scheduling) then one or 2 weeks later, the status was updated with the interview date which is when we then received the actual letter in the mail.

    I hope this helps.

  11. I wasn't adjusting from K1...I came here on tourist visa, three years ago.My husband is a green card holder too,he has his naturalization test in april. My first application was approved in January 2011,but I didn't have Visa number available. So I waited and watched Visa Bulletin each month, and finally came in January and I applied for Adjustment of status.I waited for a long time, but I was with my husband the whole time,so it was worth it :)

    Thank you :)

Congratulations! we were in kind of the same boat. Hubby was in parolee status and i am an LPR, so we were approved the I 130 back in 2011 but our priority date was sept 2010 which as you probably know became current in Jan 2013 :). He also got his 10 year GC which he received in the mail last saturday. The IO told us the card will be there 2-3 weeks but i think it gets there much sooner and you should get your next week if not the end of this week, they sent if priority mail 2 days. :) Congrats again!

  12. CA, I gave my EAD while getting license, and I got only 1 year for that license, I have to renew again.

Also, not sure what they meant by carrying it all the time

    ..

you're not breaking law by not carrying (in country), because I haven't heard of cops asking for legal status documents if they stop you for speeding...

If I'm not mistaken, they are not supposed to inquire that. Homeland security are one of few who can ask that.

and if homeland security is asking you to prove that, you will have time to get it from your residence/apartment/home before they believe that you're illegal..

there are many illegal in this country, and they're actually breaking law... not you, :)

Sorry if I sound rude, but I wouldn't worry about carrying it all the time....

Exactly my point. I agree. :)
