  1. You went for interview for ROC?

IO didn't give me any timeline just told us he needs to consult Supervisor.

How many days we should wait before going ahead woth Infopaas?

my experience is from AOS which is about 2 years ago. (For detailed, please see my timeline below. from day 80.)

I waited 3 weeks because my IO said 3 weeks. I did not see any update on website after the intervew even I received REF.

I can imagine how you are worried now. So, if I were you, I would visit infopass after the certain time.

I hope you can receive some update soon.

  2. IO handed me "further review" letter. She said she needed to talk with her supervisor for the decision and if we do not receive any update within 3 weeks, i should go to inforpass.

two days later, i received REF, and they asked me to fill in a form and return it to them... This form is not related to our marriage, it is related to my visa. The strange thing is I submitted that form with I-485 together, but it seems they overlooked. anyway, I immediately re-submitted the form and went inforpass after 3 weeks from interview to make sure nothing wrong.

Didn't your IO give timeline? After you wait, but nothing happen, it is better to go inforpass.

  3. Thanks guys for supporting and making me feel a lil bit better.

But can anyone tell me how longer I should wait to make an infopass if I don't hear anything from them yet?

My officer told me I would receive the result within 4 weeks and if nothing happens, I have right to contact UCIS.

So, if I was you, I would make the inforpass appointment after two weeks from the interview since there are no empty space for inforpass in next two weeks in my local office.

When I made the infopass, i chose "You need Service on a case that has already been filed" and then " Case Processing Appointment"

  4. Yeah the whole experience was a little strange. She did not ask to see my passport at all. Sometime I wonder if I should have found a way to show it to her, maybe when she asked how I came in, with what type of visa etc...but didn't think about it at the time and I thought it was normal procedure to take the I94 if they are going to approve you. That's what scares me a little

She was fairly tall for a woman, middle age, blonde.

I spent my eve and today looking at my phone expecting an sms or a mail with an update, to the point that I couldn't even study. I just made the decision to put it in the back of my head, after all there is nothing we can do now, but just wait and worrying is just going to intensify the pain...

    Hi bbutterfly,

About I-94, do not worry so much. My officer never explained ROC and she almost forgot to collect I-94. I asked her "don't you need my I-94"? Then, she said "Oh, I often forget to collect it".

My interview was the last of the day. Soon after the officer started the interview, the secreatry visited and asked her when our interview would finish. The officer was really in hurry to finish our interview. I think your officer was also in hurry. as long as she explained ROC to you, your situation is much better than me.

FYI, I did not submitted so much evidence. I only submitted leasing agreement, joint bank information and some photos without my parents. My RFE is not related to bonafade marrige. It is related to my visa.

  5. I don't think they reviewed my application before the interview because from the way she looked at my forms during the interview, it seemed like she just got my application and even didn't know i made mistake on I-864. That is the reason why we gave the amended I-864 to her at the interview. So I guess it pretty much depends on local office and officer who interviews you.

@Snookie: Don't be nervous at your interview, sleep enough before that day. We were so nervous that we messed up. Also, we stayed up so late that we were kinda tired the day after =.=. Good luck to you !!

@bbutterfly: We're on the same boat. I Pray for both of us !

    Hi Tina,

don't worry. I could not receive the approval at the interview, but i already got GC. The officer at the interview said "I did not have time to check your application until now. I will review it later. You will receive the result within 4 weeks." Then, I got RFE later.

Not approved at the interview does not mean deny. Just you need to wait for a while.

if you do not hear anything after certen time, visit inforpass.

I hope you will hear good result soon.

  6. Hi everyone

Congrats Barbaraj. Great to seem some approvals still happening after looking wait.

It's shocking to have some strangers show up at hope but glad it worked out well. Any progress in this process is worth it. Our attorney mentioned that there are cases where people just show up at your door without notice

We had an interview back in January 5th and have heard nothing. I called the 800 number & keep getting agents that are reading a script with no news at all. So frustrating. Today some lady decided to open a service call with a 30 more days wait. It took everything in me to remain calm during that call but.I.guess they hold the key to our futures bummer

    So the wait continues

Did you try infopass? I got RFE after the interview. I submitted the document soon, but my case on the web site had never updated. I called 800 number, she said I had to wait 60 days. One week later, I visited infopass. The officer said we can not see any update on the web site if our case is in local office and we have to visit the infopass to check the status. Then, the officer entered their internal system and he told me UCIS already made the decision "yesterday". I went back home and checked the web site soon, but the web site still says "initial review". later that day, my case on the web site was finally updated to card production. If you have not tried the infopass, I recommend you to visit there. You may be able to get more detail infomation.

  7. I received e-mail, GC production order.

I went to infopass in this morning since the due date for RFE is comming soon but UCIS web site still shows initial review, never said "received RFE". The officer accessed their internal system and told me my case became post decision activity "yesterday". Then, just now my case on web site was finally updated. haha, it seems i do not need to go to the infopass in this morning.

I hope everybody here get the approval at the interview. If your case becomes further review and you want to know your status after a certain time, i recommend you to go to the infopass. The ofiicer told me I could not see any update on the web site during my case was in the local office.

  8. i had the interview recently. They asked us about my parents. (my parents is not in the wedding ceremony picture.)

    Q. Where do your parents and brother live?

    Q. Have you met her parents?

    Q. Have you ever talked with her parents?

    Q. Have your parents beed in USA? When is the last time they visited?

    Q. Do your parents or brother understand english?

We do not have anthing to hide. So, we told the truth.

  9. I already know the answer to this -- that you should never bank on getting a prompt interview -- but I'm wondering if it's worth all the trouble of applying for the EAD and AP? If you've got your ducks in a row and fill out the i-485 paperwork correctly, and if your application is processed in a timely manner, it seems that many people get Green Card approval within a few days/weeks of getting their EAD. Now, I also understand that getting a paycheck is of utmost importance to a lot of people, but if the wait between the EAD and GC is relatively brief, is it really worth the time and effort of filing for the former?

    Any opinions?

"if your application is processed in a timely manner"

nobody knows if our application is processed in a timely manner.

  10. We went to our interview last thursday. We were an hour and half early so the IO interviewed us earlier than our scheduled time.

IO asked us to swear we told the truth and asked me if I committed any crimes or was involved in terrorist activities from a standard form. The only other questions she asked included my last name, place of birth, date of birth, how we met and how long my husband stayed in the Philippines to visit me and how he asked for my hand in marriage, as per our customs. She commented on the difference in our ages but also stated this was common according to Philippine custom. She asked for: photos and any joint accounts or supporting evidence.

After that, she told us since we are married less than two years, we will receive two year green card, explained about the removal of conditions procedures and we signed a paper. She indicated she would review our application plus the K-1 Visa documentation. The interview took less than 15 minutes. She did not indicate anything about decision date, if we were approved and we have no idea what she will decide.

Do I have to worry about our case? I check our status online but it is still in Initial Review, I heard that others had their status change to card production the same day after thier interview. :crying:

Any comment is greatly appreciated. I am really upset.

do not trust online status so much. i received approval letter for i-130, but the online status still says "initial review".

  11. Went to our interview this morning.

The IO swore us in, thumbed trough the paperwork, looked at the newer evidence (only had one new), asked the I-485 questions and told us she was recommending us for approval. We got home two hours later to find an email saying the green card was in production.

I will make a longer post later, for now, I'm just going to go celebrate! :)

Good luck to everyone else! :)

    congrats :)

  12. Hello everyone!

I am in very similar situation - overstayed VW for few months now.

My fiancee currently is PR and filed his papers for citizenship few weeks ago.

So I'll be trying to adjust my status somewhere in May-June (hopefully).

Today I talked to my lawyer and he explained, that New York office is still adjusting VW overstayers, though Newark office turns them down. Since we reside in NJ, we have to move to NY to file docs in more liberal NY office.

I wonder if we actually have to move. What can be used as proof of address for immigration-related paperwork?

I am not familir with VWP.

I recommend you to make a own topic. some Visajourney users will give you information.
