  1. I would probably choose option 3 as well. And then if it becomes financially impossible, move back to the US after the baby is born and after you've already started your visa process.

I was in a similar situation (pregnant, wanting to go back to the US but no visa for my husband). I ended up staying here in Mali because, for me, having my husband there for the baby's birth was just too important. We filed a couple of weeks before I gave birth (November), so now the baby is 7 months and we're just barely starting the NVC part of the process.

Have you looked for private tutoring jobs until September? I used to do private ESL tutoring here (before the baby came) and I made decent money. Parents were especially happy to have a tutor during summer vacation.

  2. Just called again to see if they've received our case -- big surprise -- they haven't. Joy (my first nice operator I've spoken with) said that it takes about 5 weeks for them to receive it. I know that's their normal line but it does make me realize that I should stop wasting my time calling and give it another 2-3 weeks. Because even if I call and find out they've received it, it'll be another long wait before a case number is assigned.

  3. write a nasty review and send it to

NVCINQUIRY@state.gov in the subject line put ATTN: PI Supervisor

Arthur yelled at me once. And Joy was extra snippy with me once . These people need to find new jobs if answering the phone is not what they want to be doing.

Thanks, I will definitely do this. Although, I didn't get the man's name so can I still complain? Do they give you their names or are you guys asking for them when you call?

  4. Well, after 45 minutes on hold, I ended up hanging up with the NVC agent because he was such a jerk. First of all, he wouldn't hold on for more than 1 minute because my baby was crying and I wanted to grab her before reading him the USCIS case number.

He talked to me like I was an idiot then asked me the date I received the NOA2. When I said, May 27th, he told me that I need to read him word for word all of the information on the NOA2 (aka he wanted me to get to the part where it says, "wait 30 days before contacting NVC"). I ended up just hanging up. Grrrr :ranting:

  6. As to the first: I showed a copy of my extension for my AOS and they were fine with that. You can also get some sort of printout from your CPA or from the IRS directly showing that the extension was filed and accepted, but I didn't have that for the AOS.

Thanks! So it seems like the copy will be fine for AOS but for the embassy interview, I might need an original from the IRS or my CPA.

Read the I-864 instructions regarding documenting liquid assets. Generally, money in the bank is preferred to be IN the USA already and documented with at least six months of consecutive bank or investment account statements.

Thanks for your help. The money is in the US and has been there for a looooong time. I will do 6 months or maybe even a year of investment account statements.

  7. Waiting for NVC and trying to get organized...

Tax question: I ordered the 3 tax transcripts (2012, 2011, 2010). I cannot get 2013 because I filed for an extension. Will that be a problem with NVC? I do have a copy of my extension application so I can show that.

Second question: what exactly is needed when using ONLY assets for spousal support. I live abroad so my income doesn't count, I will be using ASSETS ONLY and am not sure what documentation I need. Just a bank statement showing the amount I have in my account?

    Thanks!

  8. Hi everyone,

  10. Holy #######- I was just about to call USCIS again to attempt to put in a service request and decided to check the USCIS website one last time. WE GOT APPROVED!! :content: I am beyond ecstatic and in total disbelief.

PD Nov. 15th. I'm off to update the spreadsheet.

Question: Is it normal that it shows approved on their website and I haven't yet received an email?

I hope this means that the pace is picking up for the rest of you!!

  11. Have you tried doing an e request? Someone just did one for nsc with a 12/5 pd

I know! I've seen people with later PD be successful with phone SR and e-requests. I've tried both, several times, and keep getting denied.

I explained that to the phone representative, that I know people with later PDs who have put in SRs but she insisted that the computer system won't accept them for any dates later than Nov. 5th. I have gotten this same answer from 6 different agents (Tier 1 and Tier 2) and from 2 e-requests.

  12. Just got off the phone with USCIS and wanted to update you all. Once again, she told me that the NSC is not accepting service requests for PDs that are past the current date they're working on. She told me that they are still working on November 5th. When I told her that that is the same date they gave me when I called 2 weeks ago, she explained that they only update those current dates about once a month. She checked and said that their most current date (Nov. 5th) was updated back on May 6th. So, according to her, they probably won't update that until around June 6th.

  13. yes, it was auto expedites for people abroad for a while, then it stopped, and it started again recently :(

here is a link to follow that: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/357465-usc-petitioner-living-abroad/page-40#entry6981196

Exactly. So basically we should've filed much earlier or much later and we would've been auto-expedited. There is no consistency. I could've filed 3 weeks ago and been at the same place (or even further along) than where I am now. :ranting:

  14. Hi There, my PD is December 17. We called yesterday and they said they were processing November 5th.. so they were not able to do anything for us... is that normal? it has been more than 5 months! I know a lot of people are waiting and have been waiting for much longer than that, and I am sorry. I am also very frustrated because my husband and I are living abroad and it seems that if we had fill now our case would have been processed much faster :(

Same feelings here. My PD is November 15 and every time I call, they won't let me file a service request because they say that NSC is still on Nov 5th. That's the same date they've given for the past 2-3 weeks.

I also live abroad with my spouse and am seeing now that the people who've filed in the past month are getting auto-expedited. So frustrating!

  15. No need to fill out anything beforehand. The procedure this time is the same as last time, since the visa is still valid. Bring all the documentation as you did last time just in case.

    Good luck!

Thanks for responding! I thought that was the case but, like I said, it feels weird not to have to fill out a ton of documents for the embassy this time!

    Thanks :)

  16. Call back again and insist on speaking to a tier 2, dont give up until transferred!

My first post was a little confusing...I did speak with a Tier 2. After the Tier 1 told me it wasn't possible, I spoke with a Tier 2 officer. He was not very nice and told me that there was no way to do it. I said that I know of people who filed in November who have put in service requests but he said that the system won't even let him because I'm within the "7-9 moth window" (the Tier 1 had said it was a 5 month window).

Is it worth calling back and trying with a different Tier 2 officer. Can I ask to be transferred before even giving my info to a Tier 1?

  17. Just got off the phone with USCIS and feeling super frustrated. Spoke with a Tier 1 person who said that I WAS outside of normal processing times and that I could file a service request. Then after a few minutes, he says that since Nebraska is processing cases from Nov. 5th, that I cannot put in a service request (my NOA1 date was Nov. 15th).

So I ask to be transferred to a Tier 2 supervisor, hoping that he'll be able to do a service request for me. He tells me that I AM within normal processing times because the processing time is 7-9 months. I told him that I know of other people who filed in November who have put in service requests and he tells me that the system won't even allow him to and that I should wait another 45-60 days and then call if I haven't heard anything.

UGHHHHHH! So annoyed. At least I "only" wasted 1 hour on the phone call.
