I visited family in Haiti on April of 2009. My uncle wanted us to meet his girlfriends family. Everyone talked I noticed a guy carrying something I only caught a glimpse of him. The next day my uncle came over with Michel in car. I was a little surprised. Michel begged him to introduce us after he saw me. Turns out it was his family's home that rented to my uncle's girlfriend. Michel came by my family's home again. We sat and everyone ate together. We exchanged numbers + emails. I returned to the US and we began our long distance relationship. Things were going great until the Earthquake hit in January. I couldn't reach him for days and I was scared something happened. Thankfully Michel and his family were fine and I knew that I wanted us to be together forever. Michel and I were engaged this past August when I visited again.
