  1. I really just hope that they don't go past 5 months -- some people have their NOA2s after 6 months (if not more). :( That's just sad!

I've never really had any touches too.

Also (not to quibble or anything), what is the NOA1 date, exactly? Is it the "Date Received" or "Notice Date"?

Hope you're all doing well too! :)

I would say its the Notice Date, I assume thats the day things are "official" to them.

  2. Unlike other sites where people insult others just because of differences in points of views ...this is a site with a concentration of matured people. The intention was just to give an info on the worst case scenario. As a responsible adult, one wouldn't need to be told to look for a job especially when one has some responsibilities. Sorry if I started anything, as u can see I kept quite when i saw it was getting out of hand. I hope in the midst of this discussion you found an answer. Good luck.

My point exactly... Oh well everyone has their way of responding and dealing with things. Amongst the craziness my question was answered. Thank you again to everyone for the time spent.

  3. Your (future!) husband can do a lot of things to keep himself busy and active after he arrives besides work. Volunteering is allowed so long as it can't be construed as simply working without pay - so like at a hospital or shelter or something. He can also take classes, so if you guys have your eye on some ESL classes, he could be doing that. Or projects around the house too. Nik was on the ground about 1.5 days and I already had him patching the wall where I'd knocked some furniture into it (I'd like to see anyone else get a 1 1/2 chair up the stairs all by themselves without at least one bang into the wall!!)

Very true! I love your ideas! Plus a little manual labor wont hurt them... LOL

  4. Thank you soooooo much!!!

I read that links and was just trying to get a better understanding.

Let me say before someone thinks Im impoverished or lazy and that I NEED my husband to work the second he gets off the plane.

I was just asking a question because I thought what I read was very interesting, this is all news to me. My fiancé is very active and needs something to do. I just wanted to make sure he didn't lose himself in the process... That's all! He will arrive here to a very comfortable environment with more than what any person needs. I work and go to school full time...

Im just saying cause I asked another question before and people got really worked up about it…

Thank you to everyone who takes time out of their busy lives to respond to these posts. They are really helpful!!!!

  5. Wow!!!!!

I guess people get really passionate about things on this site. I honestly thought this was a place to ask your peers questions. I thought you could come and have people who know what you are going through relate to your questions and concerns. Guess not!

Having a long distance relationship is very difficult. It takes a toll on you when you realize that you found love and can’t have that person by your side. When you love the last thing you want to do is jeopardize the welfare of the other person. Like bringing them to live in poverty, ect. This is why many people wait years to bring their loved ones.

I only asked the question because Im sure many people going through this process think about every what if known.... Im sure you can find many jobs quickly. Any job as long as it’s legal is honest. I just didn’t know how this would affect your process.... That’s all…
