Hi everyone, I just wanted to give some follow-up.

    • I have successfully applied and now received my re-entry permit by submitting the i-131 form.
    • It took a fairly long time (almost 2 months) between the moment I submitted the form and the moment I was invited by the USCIS to a biometrics appointment.
    • Everything seems to be alright so far, I haven't gone back to the US yet, but the next time I do my assumption is that I will have to show both my Green Card & Re-entry permit, until I move there permanently.

But at least, it is giving me an additional period of 2 years to sort things out.

Thank you very much for update.

Hi @SusieQQQ, I just wanna thank you again for your help, and let you know that following our discussions, I have decided to apply for a re-entry permit (https://www.uscis.gov/i-131). I will plan a few weeks vacation to the US towards the end of October (just before the 1-year Green Card milestone).

What I'm trying to figure out now is where my appointment to the "local" USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) is going to be (once I have filled my i-131 re-entry application form). I'm guessing it will be the close to the address I entered during the DV application process, but I'm wondering whether I could change it, so that I could travel to some other place in the U.S. by the same occasion. I will let you know how it goes, if it helps anyone else on this forum.

AnthonyLondon, Thank you for your information. My sister win the DV-2019, and she has plan to do same your case too. Please let us know too. It's very helpful.

  3. Hi, doshambe.

When you arrive in Seattle at the end of Feb.  (I don't know may be you stay in USA about 1-2 weeks). after that you said, You went back to UAE and waited for the green card to arrive. It was shipped to be by your friend after which you quit your job and moved to the United States at the end of June.

My question is, You have to go to USCIS office near your house for stamp your passport for valid 1 year or not? before you go back to UAE. because you did not to received your green card yet.

    Thank you.

  6. Angel keep in touch let me know how your interview goes, may be you can get alittle inside from the Officer why it took so long for you to be scheduled for interview. I called the uscis they told me to wait for 2 two more weeks. So I will try calling back in two more weeks, and then make info pass appointment

OK, I will let you know how my interview.

I saw "mrsartis" she's On December file, same like you and me, step back to bio.

She send N-400 on 12/27/2011 and bio on 06/01/2012.

  7. Angel it kind of sucks most ppl are finishing up the process in 3-4 months and it will take us 8 months, did you call uscis while you were in line for scheduling so long to find out why it was taking soo long.

I agree, most people done in 3-4 months. I don't know why we take so long. I saw many people didn't get the bio again the process very smooth.

I just call 1-800 only one time ask for the letter for interview after that they send this message for me for waiting 60 days

You recently called to inquire regarding the status of your N-400 case. Our records indicate that we will send you a Citizenship Interview Notice within 60 days. If you do not receive a Citizenship Interview Notice within 60 days, you will need to make an appointment to visit your local office. To make an appointment you will need to go to our website and schedule an appointment using INFOPASS. You can access INFOPASS online at http://infopass.uscis.gov.

Until April 26, I got e-mail for bio. I check case online the process step back to initial review.

Khana, may be you can waiting for 60 days after you call them. If they didn't send the letter for bio or for interview, you can access INFOPASS go to talk with someone in the local office.

  8. I am in Los Angeles just seeing if anybody is in the same boat as me. I never received my biometrics, when I called uscis I was told that they will be using my biometrics from last year when conditions were removed from my GC. Its been 6 weeks still waiting to be scheduled for interview?

    Jan 24 2012 , Received Receipt #

March 6 ,2012 Received Yellow Letter

April 9,2012 I was placed in line for interview scheduling.

May 26 2012 Still waiting for interview letter

I'm in Los Angeles and never received biometrics same like you but after that I got

e-mail and text said They send the letter for biometrics.

    Nov 23 2011 : Received Receipt #

Jan 09 2012 : Placed in line for interview

  9. Your case same like me. I'm on November file (LA,CA)

    NOA date on : 11/23/2011

    Fingerprint : 05/07/2012

    Interview : 06/18/2012

my case went back to initial review and they are now requiring fingerprinting argh! they made me wait so long of course the fingerprinting will expire.. i'm so made it's making me cry!

  10. My case is getting put back for fingerprint :crying::crying:

On April 26, 2012, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

  11. Honestly I can not tell you when or what to do. In my specific case I just got so incredibly fed up with them not being able to tell me anything (or actually.. every single officer i called said something different, one said i was approved and i should get my oath invitation by e-mail (really?! by email??) one said they needed more information, one said they were waiting for some internal info, one said i needed to wait 90 days, one said i needed to wait another 2 months one said i had to wait 2 weeks)

if you call USCIS you can always request to talk to a higher level officer, usually they can tell you more about your case. the person you get on the phone in the first place will discourage you to do so but if you insist they will put you through.

if you are really fed up then by all means go ahead and write your senator. be aware that this also will take a while, it took them 2 weeks after they received my letter... still way better time then USCIS.

Thank you very much, sjowol :)

  12. pretty easy: judging from your avatar you are filing in LA, that means you can contact either Barbara Boxer or Dianne Feinstein (if you studied for the test you should know B-) )

both have forms especially designed for this and both employ caseworker whose job it is to help people like us out.

both have privacy release forms you need to fill out, sign and mail to them with your case number alien registration number and copies of all the relevent paperwork.

for senator boxer you can find the form here: http://www.boxer.senate.gov/en/services/assistance/upload/Boxer-Privacy-Release-Form.pdf

    for feinstein here: http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/casework

you can allways call or e-mail them so they can tell you exactly what you need to send them.

    good luck!

I'm on November file, still waiting for interview schedule. I'm in line for interview since January 9,

    March 7, I called to 1-800 ask for my interview schedule, after that on March 9, I got e-mail from USCIS office in LA. They said;

You recently called to inquire regarding the status of your N-400 case. Our records indicate that we will send you a Citizenship Interview Notice within 60 days. How can I do? wait for 60 day or schedule for infopass or contact Barbara right now?

Thank you very much, I'm appreciate that.

  14. That sucks Angel, I had my interview last wednesday. Realistically you would've been scheduled for an appointment two weeks from now, so who knows something might still come up not too late. Hang in there! Was there anything in your application that might've caused complications? Potentially you might've gotten caught up in the Christmas holidays too.

    Thanks, arvinb :)
