Thank you for posting this we are in the same situation and traveling to Bermuda. very helpful!

I think they are a bad idea just because you are going into the marriage with a plan to fail, you should be going into head first, all in.
If I lived some place like Florida with permanent alimony I might insist on it.

from the resident since date on the green card. You add 3 years and minus 90 days. Good luck.
That really sucks because they made a mistake she will have to be here 4 years before getting her citizenship.

My wife came to this country in May 2011 on a K-1 and filed for adjustment of status in August 2011. It took 11 months and a call to my congressman to finally get the green card because of lost paper work.
Since the green card is dated June of 2012 she can't apply for citizenship until April of 2015 correct? She has to wait an extra 9 months just because they lost her paperwork?
Or can you apply 3 years -90 days from the date you applied for adjustment of status?

Church might be a good place to start.
There are a couple of Filipino churches in the Philadelphia area. We live in Lancaster which is a two hour drive from you but we have visited the Filipino church our lady of hope (http://olhphiladelphia.com/Masses.html) there.
Most of the people we met at Our lady of hope were Tagalog.

The response you received for your request is a typical one letting you know that they are behind and that your petition will be processed in order relative to the other petitions.
Yeah, then why didn't they just say that. To me that response says nothing more than we understand why you inquired and the problems it causes when we take too long.

Just received this from USCIS because our case is over the time limit we submitted a inquiry into the status. This is what they replied with which as far as I can tell gives me no information as to the actual status or why it is out side the normal processing times. It has been 8 months since our NOA 1.
Time to call my congressman?

They have a script they read and have almost no information available to them. They can't even submit a request to look into it until it is after a certain number of days. When I called he reluctantly submitted it only to sound surprised that it accepted it. He said "you must be over since it didn't reject the request".

really?im gonna have my seminar at PRISM this Monday..got everything aside from the concern about parental consent if it has to have its correct format and if it needs to be and written.. and I have my visa with me..
It was just frustrating for me because it was the only step in the process I was not involved in. They told her horror stories of women being abused and incorrect information about america that seems like it was from 1960's america. The packet looked like it had been photo copied a million times.

It took my wife almost two days to get through the medical at St. Lukes.

I cannot help too much because, as you know, the procedures at different consulates are vastly different. Ukraine does not even have this counseling and allows 18 year olds to get married all by themselves. That is why Penguin moved this to your regional forum to get advice from people that actually use that consulate and are familiar with the procedures of THAT country. Great concept actually.
I can tell you that you need to do what they tell you or the visa is not issued.
Good luck
I found they try to make your life hard and scare you. At least at PRISM that was the case, my wife knew my mothers maiden name which is one of the standard questions they ask. This seemed suspicious so they asked to see a copy of my passport to verify the name. It took my wife yelling at them that no one else had to do it and it was a moronic requirement as Americans do use maiden names as their middle names, they gave her the certificate.
If you are in manila you have two options you could try the other location.

Its not weird.
More than half the AOS papers are transferred to CSC for faster processing.
Generally people who are transferred to CSC do not have interviews and just have to wait until their approval comes.
It definitely didn't speed things up.
As we get closer to the expiration of her drivers license the more worried we get. She only has 3 more months of identification left.

My case was transferred to California when my local office is Philadelphia. The guy in customer service said he knows it is in Philly by looking up my address not because he can see it was transferred to Philly. It has been 7 months so they are going to do an inquiry to try to locate my paper work.
My thought is maybe they confused Lancaster PA with Lancaster CA and my paper work is sitting in California.
If they lost my paper work will I have to send in copies or start all over? Has this happened to anyone else?

All this information varies by state. In PA you can get a 1 year with no GC or EAC.
-
Really depends on your state, in PA my wife was able to get her license with a PI passport, unexpired 1-94, a SS#, my passport, my license and a marriage certificate.
She should have had her SS# about 15 days after entering the country. If your I-94 expired already I think you are probably screwed until GC.

I noticed the same thing. I called three weeks ago and they said Philadelphia was processing September 19th applications.

Looking for Filipino's near Elizabethtown PA, Hershey PA or Harrisburg PA. My wife is 23 and looking for Filipino friends not too far away. So if you are Pinoy or your SO is Pinoy looking for a community near those locations give me a message!

I would say restraining order and cut all contact except through a lawyer. He has a right to know everything on his file it is his file not yours. Your goal should be to never talk to him and get out with as much money as possible. Who cares what or where he goes after you extract him from your life.

I am sorry what has happened to you, it happens to many men as the legal system is setup to trust women and dis-trust men. You can lose your house, your kids and everything you hold dear to a woman who has it out for you.
Fathers and families sometimes helps with legal fees you might try contacting them.
What ever you do, don't make it worse by violating the RO regardless of what she says. I would try to cut my losses and attempt a quick divorce, maybe use not reporting her to ICE and going to the media as a leverage to get a better divorce settlement.
Good luck to you.

No need to renew EAD as long as she has her Green card.
Thanks!
-
Are you required to renew EAD every year or does your permanent green card alone authorize you to work when you get it? Friend of ours just had to show the green card when applying for work.
We are still waiting on the permanent green card but she now has her EAD and is worried she will have to renew it every year.

By the way, thank you sweetpink for your interest in this issue.
Unlike those people crying for "immigration reform" because they knew they broke US laws. Hahahaha

Good luck to you.

Had the same problem with Comcast, direct tv offers it for $24.99 and you can get a cheap basic package for $9.99.

Just thought I would give an update in case anyone else is doing this. It took about 25 days to process and they accepted everything we sent. We did include an affidavit that said this was our first and only marriage since our marriage certificate did not list the number of previous marriages. We did it by mail to the ny embassy.
We also used a return priority mail envelope rather than express to save some money.
(i-864) Unemployed bring wife's mother over
in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Posted
So I am currently unemployed / semi-retired (not collecting social security) and neither my wife nor I have any W2 income for this year, but we will probably have 70-100k of income.
I have significant liquid assets to meet the asset requirements but they were earned under my name not my wife. Filed joint taxes for the last 5 years
Do I need to file the i-864a since all the income is lumped together on the taxes? If so should half of it go on hers and half on mine? all on hers? all on mine?
Thanks,
