Jill mentioned here previously that she had an interview on March 11th, same day as I did--we have the same field office.

Have you tried to get an info pass appointment?

Just completed my interview this afternoon. I passed!

The officer swore me in, checked my IDs, and verified I had my birth and marriage certificate in my file (it was about 2-3 inches thick and had all my previous immigration papers in it!). He then went through the information submitted on my application, including the long list of yes/no answers.

Then for the test: He asked my to read "Which state has the most number of people?" then asked me to write the answer: "California has the most number of people."

My civic questions were:

What is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

Who is in charge of the executive branch?

If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Describe one of the four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote.

What is one reason colonists came of America?

During the cold war, what was the main concern of the United States?

He stopped after the 6th question as I had answered all of them correctly. He then made me sign a couple of documents including the key statements under the oath of allegiance. Then he handed me a paper showing I had been recommended for approval. He also gave me my Notice for Naturalization Oath Ceremony with the schedule on it-- April 28th. So I've updated my info with the date below.

FYI, the Fresno office no longer allows legal name change.

Yes, it is. I did not request a name change on my application but the IO submitted a name change request at my interview.

I'm scheduled for my N-400 interview next week.

I would like to request a legal change of name at the same time as my naturalization. However, I had not decided on this at the time I submitted my application.

Is it still possible to make this request during the interview? If so, will it entail a further delay to my oath-taking, assuming my application is approved?

Our California State US senators are Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.

US representative for District 16 (including Fresno) is Jim Costa.

So when is your interview? Mine is next wednesday, March 11!

"Great", the only news for me: now on the USCIS website for Santa Ana field office as of December 31, it appears April 14. I don't get it.

I checked my field office, the date for their last processed application went back a month too (it was end June as of Nov 30, then May 23 as of Dec 30)!

And yet I got my interview schedule last week. So hang in there, maybe those dates don't mean much.

2015 US Passport Application Tracker List

Finally got my interview notice on the uscis website today, 90 days after going "in-line"!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted some quick advice. I will be submitting my N-400 Sept 2015 (I just received approval on my I-751 today, woohoo!). I looked at the N-400 instructions and had a question about evidence. The instructions list the following:

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, send the following 4 items:

1. Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years:

- Birth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth); or

- Certificate of Naturalization; or

- Certificate of Citizenship; or

- The inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse's current U.S. passport; or

- Form FS-240, Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America; and

2. Your current marriage certificate; and

3. Proof of termination of all prior marriages of your spouse (divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificate(s)); and

4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:

- Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; or

- Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; or

- An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.

So, my question is, for numbers 1 and 4, I only have to send one piece of evidence for each e.g. 3 years of tax transcripts will suffice for number 4.

Is this really the only evidence you need to put together? The I-751 was so burdensome in terms of evidence that I'm now wondering if the N-400 can be this straight forward.

Yes. I only sent tax transcripts also, but will be prepared with other "evidence" for the interview.

Nothing so far. I noticed on the USCIS website that they no longer say "if you have not received a notice by February 3, make a follow up request for interview" or something to that effect. I hope this doesn't mean our wait has become "indefinite" rather than 120 days.

I also saw that the Fresno office updated its timeline. As of end November, they had just completed applications dated June 29. I'm thinking our interviews may be in March or April.

This may not be news to some of you, but I found out how you can check on the processing time of your field office and whether they are on time or experiencing a delay.

When you check your status on the USCIS website, click the link below that page for "USCIS processing times information", then type in your field office.

Or try this address that I copied from the site:

I found that the Fresno, CA office as of end October was just processing early May applications. Makes me think my interview will be around Feb - Mar.

Other areas which are on time will just show, for example "5 months", which I believe is the benchmark for N-400 processing.

I live in Fresno County and will be filing my N-400 next week. Sorry, I don't have info for you at the moment. It would be interesting to compare notes on this "final" journey. Good luck!

Did you do your AOS in Fresno too?

Btw, your profile says "Naturalization (approved)". I assume that's an error, right?

Please check validity of the N-400 form you are using. The current one, dated 09/13/13 expiring 09/30/15, seems pretty clear to me.

If it's the first marriage for both of you, answer "1" in question Part 9, Q 3.

Answer Q 4 A-G with all the details about your current spouse.
