It will not affect your citizenship. You have already passed 5 years and you have passed your interview. You will be fine. Your wife is not the main factor anymore as you qualify for citizenship on your own and have already passed. There’s just a delay in your oath ceremony date.

Thanks for taking the time to reply , I appreciate it 🙏🙂 it is the delay that's concerning me ,I have plans to travel abroad but I cannot go thru with coz I am afraid I get the oath ceremony appointment while am out of the country ! It is so annoying .

Haven't applied for mine yet just been busy.I believe u am sure all evidence u provided before hand is enough. Everyone keeps complaining appointments taking long but I pray u get an appointment

Thanks a lot for your prayers I appreciate it , in my case like everyone else it is definitely because of the Pandemic in addition to name change that requires a federal judge ruling and it take longer to schedule a judge esp in Baltimore area , but I did not expect it to take 10 months !! and maybe more , I really don't know how long it might take at this point . I was wishing that I will find people that are going thru the same ordeal so we can share info and tips about ! meanwhile I do not wish this to be happening to anybody else ..

I wish you the best of luck 😊

Am sorry for whatever your going through pray things get better 🙏. If ur in the marriage for the right reason and ur with your wife is all this year's I don't know why they would say no to you.

Thanks for your reply I appreciate it . My Marriage is a real true marriage that started since 2010 before we came to the US . They did not say No it's just taking forever to get an appointment for my oath ceremony and i was wondering of anybody waited that long ?

    Thanks again 😊

  4. Hi ,

N-400 Interview done July 21, 2021 Baltimore Field Office , Passed the interview, but because I requested a name change in the N-400 form I have to wait for an oath ceremony presided by a federal Judge . First I thought it was gonna take 3 months but then three months passed nothing happened ,then I said maybe because of the pandemic and all that it might take little bit longer maximum 6 or even 9 months ! It's been already 9 months and nothing yet !

    Anybody experienced something similar ?

  5. Hi folks 🙂

I hope all is well with you , and congrats to all the ones that passed the interview and good luck with the oath ceremony .

Hopefully I am on the right forum to get advise or answer to my questions, I have been married to my US spouse since 2014 applied to US citizenship April 2021 that means After 7 years of marriage , I did not take advantage of the 3 yrs option but I still checked that box on the N-400 form when I applied instead of checking the one of I have been lawful resident in the last 5 yrs ! Anyway I passed the interview July 2021 and since then am still waiting for oath ceremony it's been 10 months and of course some of the reasons of this long delay is COVID and requesting a name change  ! Now  la vie is not rose with my wife recently ,we are having lots of arguments and fights constantly which is leading to separation eventually and I have to leave the house soon , I wonder what's gonna happen to my  current oath ceremony ?!  Am I gonna be able to go for the ceremony if scheduled , will I be able to get my citizenship approved or the separation will I influence the decision?! If it will  am I gonna be deprived of applying for citizenship in the future ? If my wife decides to retaliate and report me to the immigration will I loose the right to re-apply again for citizenship ?

    I appreciate your help folks

    thanks 🙏

  6. Hi folks ,

I hope that you are all doing well . I see that we still dont have any good news from Baltimore field office , which is frustration 🤕

it has been almost 10 months since i passed the interview and no sign of any updates , i called 2 months ago a very nice lady checked my case

and she said unfortunately there is no updates on it and that they are handling case by case based on the filing dates and that they haven't reached 2021 filers yet!

then suggested that I just wait for another 3 months and give a call back !

That is all i have to share for right now !

Anybody heard anything from the field office or gave them a call ?

    Wish you all good luck

  7. Hi there folks ,

I am on the same situation I have passed my nat interview test in July,2021 . Still waiting for the oath ceremony till now ! I requested also a name change . Did you request a name change as well ?!

I also need to know if Baltimore's courts have a clerk number where I can call and inquire about the oath scheduling ?

One last question , if I get informally separated from my spouse now will this affect my eligibility for naturalization ?

I could have have used the 5yrs rule I stead cause I was married since 2014 , but since I did not know that I would have to separate from my US spouse I used the 3 yrs rule !

Any insights guys will be appreciated .

    Thanks a lot

Name change does not hold it up

In most districts a judge does the ceremony and easy to change the last name

the ones here had the new name already on the certificate although immigration officer can conduct the ceremony and judge has already signed the certifiicate and ok'd the name change

and who would want to do it after getting the certificate and pay to have the name changed on it?

The filing fee for a name change after citizenship oath is $555 for Form N-565. You will need to pay the filing fee and the biometrics service fee. The filing fee sent to USCIS is non-refundable, even if your request is denied.

Plus getting name change on any passport if you got it with old name or waiting for new certificate to apply for US passport

    and SS changes

it is the scheduling in a district combined with # of people waiting as now during covid they have to limit oath takers

Here they did half in morning and half in afternoon

but the big events use to be done in a facility like a stadium and they need to distance the people and that means more ceremonies and a tougher scheduling issue

Thanks JeannAdil for all the helpful information you shared .

Hello...I think the timing depends on the local office when it comes to Naturalization with a name change.  We requested a name change on the N400 and our office was Newark, NJ.  Interview was at 9:30 AM and Oath Ceremony was same day at 2 PM, and received Naturalization certificate with new name, along with a court order name change document (on same day as interview).  That being said, this is probably the simplest way to do the name change - in New Jersey, to do a name change separately, several steps are required which can take months (steps such as publishing the name change in local newspaper, going to court, etc etc).  Good luck - I hope your Oath ceremony will come soon.

Thanks Duncan21 , I appreciate your insight on the subject . I thought it was gonna be that easy , but like you mentioned above , that depends on each office field , your State gave the power of court to the IO , however some other states like MD they don't , so I have to wait for a Judge to be free to take a look at my case ! But I would have never thought that it would take 6 months and still ongoing ..!

I hope we get insights from people that waited or are waiting for court oath ceremony appointment !

I am glad for you Duncan and good luck with everything else in your life

This isn’t unheard of.  Because of that I never recommend a name change combined with naturalization.  Indeed I don’t think a name should be changed until naturalization certificate is in hand.

Sorry this is happening to you.

Thanks Mike I appreciate you taking the time to answer .

Big mistake requesting the name change 😔 I thought it would be faster to get everything done at once ,but it back fired ! I hope to hear from someone that went through the same just to have an idea what am up to .

    Thanks again

    You have a blessed Night

  14. I filed May 2014, sent RFE response on 6/24, it was signed for at Houston local office on 6/25 and still have not heard anything either. I contacted my senator again to let her know there is still a delay. On my RFE notice it says

"Please comply with all items marked below to expedite processing of your application"

then below on the RFE it says

"the sooner we get your response, the sooner we can make a decision on your case"

No where does it say wait an additional 60 days for response. It says the word "expedite".

Thank God i am not the only april 's filer lol I am sorry but i needed to know that there are still other cases similar to mine , becoz i did not want it to be personal against me lol I am still the only oldest case though coz i sent my RFE for new medical exam 2 months ago :( Hopefully we will all get GREEN soon next month before they all run for vacation :)

Good luck to you guys :)

You're not the last April 2014 filer who still hasn't received the GC... Me too!! My AOS is early April 2014, and i havn't got any news since i sent my REF last month... :(

I sent my RFE beginning of June , it is almost 2 months waiting now my friend :( I hope they will not make you wait that long . Wish you good luck

  15. Ahlan wa Sahlan to Chatsworth USCIS office .

Have you been to any info pass? Have you submitted any inquiry requests??? I know the USCIS office in Chatsworth is pretty overloaded but i was with the same office and i got my approval early this month. I think you need to get on top of your case make calls to USCIS, submit inquiries one after another, obudsmen is not a bad option to try either, go for info passes again and again and ask them when was my case last worked on they are able to tell you that too.

Ahlan wa sahlan bik , mabrook l GC :) I am planing to call again and maybe to go for an infopass , hopefully i will hear something from them soon ..

    Chokran 3ala lmourour :) Salam

  16. Most of applicants who received NPIW usually ended up at different local USCIS office. My local office was in Kendall, Florida, but I received RFE from Fairfax, Virginia. Here the official page of USCIS on Facebook. You can send a private message but also you can posted your complaint there. Another alternatif is that attached this thread, particularly where your postings at and posted on their account.

    https://www.facebook.com/uscis?fref=ts

    Keep us posted.

Problem is that they don't have the inbox messaging available :( I am only allowed to post comments under one of their subjects ! is that what you did ?

  17. Oh, I am sorry to hear that. That's a long wait because USCIS received mine on June 22, 2015 and I was approved on June 30. So, it should not take that long. I suggested this, if you have a twitter account or facebook, posted your complaint to @DHS @USCIS @WhiteHouse @BarackObama. That's what I did the last time because when I called USCIS the agent told that there is nothing she can do about my case. After waited about 3 weeks from approval date, a day after I tweeted my article suddenly my status was changed.

Where your local USCIS office is?

Thanks for coming back to me with such positive reply :) my USCIS office is in Baltimore i guess coz i live in Maryland ! But I have sent my new medical exam to CAHTSWORTH IN CALIFORNIA ..

What is the official page of the USCIS ? I hope that my complain there will do me good the same way it did to you :)

  18. I am so happy for all of you guys :). Congrats !! but at the same time i am so sad for myself it looks like my case is taking the longest time ever :( I am April ,2014 AOS filer and i still havent heard anything from the USCIS ever since i sent my new medical exam beginning of last month (JUNE 6th) !! I have called and talked to an officer and she told me that i should wait 2 months and if i do not like waiting and want more infos i should make an infopass and go in person and ask what is going on with my case !

Is there anybody that filed April ,2014 and still haven't received the GC ?

  19. no word back from Tampa after sending them a letter June 24th about our medical rfe. We sent the redone medicals out on Monday, and they were signed for this morning. We leave tomorrow to Europe for 2 weeks. We'll see what happens while gone. They'll be doing a preclearance via Dublin, so hopefully the process will be smooth.

My RFE for new medical exam been sent to the USCIS June the 6th , 2015 and still havent heard from them , hope you hear from them soon ..I think it is a matter of luck some people got approved just one week after they sent the rfe and some after 4 weeks and more !! Weird Weird Weird :(

    Wish you good luck :)

  20. Hello guys, I have been following this thread for long now and I would like to ask if anybody faced an experience like me and the result came out fine. I was asked to send new medical for my marriage based I-485 and I have done the medical. then, I went to the clinic and received my sealed medical document and sent it to the uscis office located on my rfe letter. then after a while, the clinic called me and they told me they made a mistake when the fill out the medical form but i already sent it so i went back to the clinic again and took the correct medical form and sent it to uscis. I tried to recall the first medical document by usps but it was not successful. now the uscis office got both medical documents and i sent it around June 25 and no response until now. I don't know what to think but just stressed. anybody has this kind of experience? please share. it will ease my stress.

Hi there . I did not have similar experience to yours but I have been asked also to send a new medical exam and i did and that was at the beginning of last month on June the 6th exactly , I still haven't heard from them until now . Anyway you do not have to worry cause when they receive the first sealed letter from you and they find a mistake they will mail you to ask you for a new medical exam again ! It depends on the kind of mistake that was made by the clinic !

I wish you a good luck..
