  4. Hi all,

We had our interview this morning, and I have to say the day was a complete disaster. We were running late, and the traffic in Cairo was horrendous, not to mention we were both extremely tired. We got there and standing in line to enter, this man is coming around checking everyone's receipts and making sure their name is on the list. Well Mohamed's wasn't, but good thing we had the email from the embassy stating for him to come today for his interview so they let us in.

As some of you know, this was really confusing because the embassy issued an interview date before receiving Mohamed's documents back, so we just brought everything with us today. We took our number and waited for them to call us, when we went to the first window the woman was surprised that we were there, she said she didn't have us listed as having an interview today. We showed her out letter and she handed it over to her supervisor. We could see and hear the supervisor talking with one of the girls in the back, asking why she sent us this email and scheduled us for an interview when they didn't receive his documents yet.

Since we had everything she decided they would go ahead and do the interview, so she took all of the documents, translation, passport and medical report. Mohamed was then called for fingerprints. Shortly after we were called for the interview. We seen a somewhat younger woman, with long straight, light brown hair. She seemed very friendly, she took the DHL receipt and asked me how long I had been in Egypt and when I was leaving. I told her I was there this time for 2 days and was leaving on Jan 23. She then said she would like to speak to Mohamed and then to myself alone, so I went and waited. Mohamed talked with her for about 10 min before he came back to get me and I went up. When I first got up there the first thing she said to me was, "So you have been to Egypt many times." I said yes, this is my 3rd visit. She then said, I understand you were here in April and again in August, I said yes I was in April but it was actually early September the next trip. She laughed and said, "oh, ok, he said August but was getting confused by the dates," and made it appear like it was not a big deal. She then went on to ask me some questions:

    How did we meet

What was it about Mohamed that made this relationship grow from meeting online to now this

If I met his family and how do we get along

How many kids do I have and their ages

Have my kids ever been to Egypt before

    How did Mohamed propose

What do I do for a living

After that she said that the relationship appears to be creditable, however there are some fraud signs. She said that sometimes men will look online for women who are slightly older than them and who have children and they use them as a way to get a greencard. She said it was her duty to make me aware of this and asked if I still wanted to proceed with the petition. I said, I was already fully aware of that, and I know that Mohamed loves me and I love him, and yes I wanted to proceed. She said ok, you can go get him now.

We came back and she said congratulations your visa has been approved, however it requires some additional processing and I'm not sure if you will be able to travel back together...your visa should be ready in about 4 weeks (yeah I heard that one before) She asked Mohamed if he would be traveling in the next month and needed his passport back or if they could keep it, he replied, No he would not be traveling and they could keep it. She gave us a white piece of paper with the embassy website and said we can check the status of our visa on this site, and that was it.

I had already figured that he would get AP so I'm not that much in shock, but still disappointed. I think the fact that we just gave them the papers today may also play a part of him getting AP.

Any thoughts anyone on how you think it went?

congratulatiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiion, everything seems all right so you have just to make your self buzyy to dont think about how those weeks are longers. be happyyyy

  5. Hello MENA community,

I would love any suggestions about any "American" brands or products that are now popular or well liked in Morocco for gifts to be given to relatives while visiting there. Is there any latest "American" brand trend that everyone wants? Also what "snacks" or items that are popular in morocco and are sort of "expensive" there but not here? We had some friends from Morocco visit and said they loved "OREO" cookies in Morocco? I know for clothing that GUESS, RALPH LAUREN, and LEVIS are popular brands of choice in a MENA country that I have been to before. So, I guess the ideas are for clothes/goods for children, women, men, and teenagers?

Ideas anyone...or advice on what I should bring that is always good to pack when going to Morocco and if you didn't pack it why you regretted that you didn't!

I am going with my husband and our child in April-May for about a month starting in Rabat..My first time going to Morocco and my husband has not been back since 1999!!!!

    Thanks for any feed back!

bring nothing, you are bringing them the most precious gift, THEM SON  his family didnt saw him 12 years.

  7. It seems to be an unfortunate side affect of working in certain government positions that instead of saying "I don't know" they feel they have to make up something. You will run into it at the SS office, the DMV, even the Post Office. I cannot begin to list the complete BS that people here have been told by the clerks at the SS office alone. There is a REASON VJ posts the rules regarding SS cards, for example.

Our son was told by the clerk at the DMV he HAD to have a Social Security number to get a drivers license. He did not have one yet as he had not received his green card yet. (K2s have to have a green card or EAD for SSN) BS! The state does not require a SS number and does not require an EAD or Green card. We got a supervisor and she told the clerk to write "none" (we had already done that). Just minutes later, while I waited for him to take his test, the SAME clerk told ANOTHER woman (also an immigrant) that SHE had to have a SSN! I overheard this and interrupted them and pointed out we had just been through the same thing. The clerk looks at ME like I am the one that has a problem! She let the woman take her test.

Stick to people that have done it, study the rules and keep them with you. It will be necessary for you to train government workers throughout the process and you need to be prepared to do this or your loved ones will be denied their benefits by ignorant boobs. It is not just the Casa Blanca consulate where this exists.

well thanks for your advice, in fact we got our part in this, cuz when i went into my interview at casablanca's embassy, they toled me after 5 minutes ( 4 questions) " sir you are approuved we will give you a call in one or twoo weeks and they keept my passport" now its been 6 weeks, and nothing no call, when my fiancee call them they toled her that iam in AP and it take between twoo weeks to twoo mounths, anyways it was not what i was toled in the end of my interview. so i agree with you i never believe what they said nomatter what till i will got the visa stamped in ma passport.

  8. I am leaving for Morocco tomorrow to bring my fiance back to the U.S. on Nov. 30th. Today, he was visiting a friend that works at the Embassy, his friend told him that he may not be able to leave Morocco on a booked/paid for by me a "ONE WAY" ticket. He said that they do not consider a K1 a permanent visa and he would have to have bought a round trip ticket. I find this to be just impossible as there many do not book round trip tickets as they would lose that money and it's not cheap.

Is there any truth to this????? Do I need to re-purchase another ticket tonight for him to return to Morocco? OMG the night before I leave and I get this bit of information.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

believe me ma friend, its time to stop hearing what this person is saying for real, he's telling you from the begining fals things, from the embassy go in people's computers and e-mails and e-mailbox.... and now your husband need a round trip ticket, i wonder what this person is doing in casablanca embassy to say such a crazy thing cuz the security man and the gardner works in the embassy but they cant help. buy a ticket one way everything will be ok

  9. Ohhhhh please, I would never ask him to do that, you have to be kidding right? That is like SELLING YOUR HOUSE & BUYING AN AIRLINE TICKET before your Visa is Issued.blink.gif LOL have a great day

yes its a joke hehehehehe, for ma ticket its ok i will buy another one heheheheheehe i will take with me a big cow that i will eat till the next summer

  10. Hello,

I have found a Middle Eastern place to buy Halal food and products near our local mosque. I know my fiance wants to continue this way, but has anyone out there had any issues with there fiance/husband not being able to find Halal products. Isn't Kosher close to the say way as Halal?

I don't have a problem at all buying him Halal meat etc., as I will continue buying things for me and my daughter at Kroger etc. I really want to respect his way of living when he arrives, and I plan to stock the freezer with whatever he needs. I don't want him to change his way of living just because he may think it's a burden for me to travel just for Halal products. I feel, he is giving up his life, family to be here with me, and it's the least I can do for him as well.

Has anyone has any issues with this as a couple?

    Have a great day yall.....

it's simple, ask him to become a vegetarian

  11. Also, I do not want her to find out that I was married to the first one. Will I have to answer any questions to Immigration about the first time throughout the process?

    Thanks in advance.

nice begining for a relationship, anyways what if in her interview the consular ask her: why your fiance has divorced his first macedonian wife? she will answer: he never been married to a macedonian woman before. you go to have the biggest red flag ever give, im pretty sur she will be asked this question, cuz the consular will got the question from your case, and you are divorced you gonna be forced to send them your divorce pepers, anyways i dunno why you wont tell her about your first wife, if she will leave you knowing that so she never deserve you, im so sorry to say that but its the truth.
