  1. hello all, my wife got a two year green card and right now we are just wondering since the time for her renewal is approaching what is our next step? when exactly should we start? we dont know much about the naturalization process and can she apply for citizenship after the current green card expires? also, does she have to be in the United States when applying? or can she do everything from a US embassy? is it standard to receive a 10 year green card after this two year green card? is an interview necessary? thank you for your attention to this. and a happy holidays to everyone

  2. just letting the dec thread know that we got our noa2 on may 6th, our noa1 was actually on dec 10th. but bubbi and sasha are actually the same person and we are on igors list as terry and natasha (our real names). sorry for any confusion. hope that all are having as good of luck as we are having at this moment. nvc received our case may 16th. getting ready to find out about our interview. good luck to all, and thank you everyone for all your help.

  3. It's recommended to bring your last 3 years of tax returns or transcripts. If you bring returns, they need to be full returns - including W-2s.

Transcripts are easier (1-2 pages total) and usually preferred - you can order them over the phone for free. They take about a week to receive.

Whatever you bring regarding taxes - it's also advised you bring 3-6 months of paystubs for proof of current income. Added benefit can be from an employment letter stating your salary, printed on company letterhead.

how do i find out the number to contact them and ask for these transcripts?

  4. If you are W-2 and you make over 125% of the minimum poverty guideline, I think all they need is your 2010 W2 and last 4-6 paycheck stubs... I think. Others will now definitely chime-in. I don't know exactly what you need since I am self employed and I researched those requirements with a fine tooth comb.

thank you so much. i also got a promotion to a higher paying job than what i had last year and make quite a bit more. and i only worked half a year at this place. i keep every single pay stub i get just for this. again, thank you so much for you help. and good luck to you also on your journey :^)

  5. Of course they need something. I see you have asked a lot of questions about this support issue, but you have never written whether you CURRENTLY make over 125% of the poverty line, are self employed or a w2 employee. All we know is you used to be in the military. If you don't have a way to prove you can support her, I.e. with a current job, you won't get approved without a sponsor or 3X the 125% poverty level in the bank... which is roughtly $60,000 if it is just you and her. give us some details so you can get past this issue. good luck to you.

i have a job where i make over the poverty guideline. i made in half a year more than what the poverty guideline is. i am w-2. thank you for helping. :^)

  6. when my finacee goes for her interview, does she need to take proof that i have paid my taxes? and if so, what documents would prove that? and how far back does that go? i have seen conflicting articles going both ways that i do need it and that i dont. i dont have any documents saying i have paid my taxes, i have always gotten a return. and while in the military i got a leave and earning statement saying how much was taken out of my check but that was done through the web site and i am no longer in the military and have no way to get those leave and earning statements. i'm confused. will she even need this stuff for her interview? and if so, then why couldnt one government agency talk to another government agency on this information? they talk to the fbi. then why couldnt they just talk to the irs if this was something that they needed?

  7. Terry,

I'm a former Marine like SqdnGuns. Unfortunately veteran status means nothing with USCIS or NVC. Seems like you have towed the line and done the work. This site has taught us to be patient if nothing else. The Gunny's story is a true crime for sure but we still wait. We all know how to hurry up and wait.

    Be patient bro, it'll happen.

    Chris

yes we certainly do know the ole hurry up and wait routine LOL. doesnt make it any easier. ahhh, i just hope we can all be with the ones we love as soon as possible. i would like to have this process behind me and try to help others in the future hand in hand with the love of my life. thank you for your response, and i hope the most expediant of resolutions for yours and all of ours petitions

  8. I have the same question. We sent our document to Texas and was then sent it to California Service Center. I do not understand it either.

    .

awesome!!! you got a touch. congratulations. i hope that means that they are dilligently working on yours. i certainly wish that they would have sent mine with yours to california. but, i wish you the best of luck and all the best

  9. TSC is a total mess right now............read my signature.

i'm so sorry to hear of your sons condition. he will be in our prayers, i can assure you that. and i sincerly hope that all this mess can be sorted out. i myself am a veteran. i was deployed to a place in iraq very close to the iran border. i will refrain from saying exactly where due to the sensitivity of the location, but lets just say close enough that we could take rocket fire from iran. which, i believe we did. but......... never any returned fire. so what you say about our government caring more about everyone else than it does for its own citizens, i completely understand. i'm not even trying to use any military refrence with this matter and have received mutiple negative backlash for my even metioning it. again, i pray for you, your family, and especially your son. i really hope that you and your family are reunited in the near future and that your son can receive the best medical attention that can be provided. God bless you and thank you for sharing your story. it is truely a powerful one. and i will be following you on twitter. and good luck, lets keep the faith and lets work through this ordeal.

    Best wishes,

    terry

Sorry Mirko. Dallas lock box is a clearing house. I-129F petitions are sent to either CSC or VSC. Your's was sent to VSC which is the slower of the two. Settle in for the long wait and study up for the next step.

thank you for your reply. it sucks. but what can i do??? i'm trying everything to act in the most professional way as possible. i mean, she and i arent getting any younger, as none of us are in the situation. i just wish they took this seriously

  10. Hi, We sent our petition in September, we have had 1 touch since then and we're still waiting. It has been the longest wait, at least that's the way it feels :) Good Luck To You :)

and good luck to you also. thank you for your response. i hope that your case get through very quickly. and i'm sure that you do too with all the unrest in his country. God bless, and good luck.

  11. 6 month waiting time for an approved petition. Sit back and wait.

thank you so much. you seem to have had alot of touches. and what is a biometeric???? i like to see what others have gone through and sometimes it makes me curious. and did i see on your that you didnt even have an interview?

  12. hello all, we have sent in our petition, and they have received it and we have gotten our NOA1, but the last time the have updated it was dec 10, 2010. how long does this usually take? why have they not updated it in so long? is there a number where i can reach them and get some answers about this? i used to work with the government in the military and i know how these things run. but for them not to have any advance in almost 2 months is very troubling. i'm not a demanding person but this is the lives of two people here they are dealing with. maybe its paper to them but this is mine and hers life. i would seriously like for them to take a more active approach to this matter. i'm sorry if its sounds like i am complaining, or if i'm spoiled (though i am not). its just that i know how government works. and even though they are the fastest in the world, its not normal for them to be this slow. thank you all so much for all your information in the past. and thank you all so much for all your support

  13. Hey all. Here i am reading the instructions about the Affidavit of support here on VJ and reading the instructions on affidavit of support at USCIS site. The thing that confuses me is that it never says anything about tax returns, nor cover letters nor anything of that kind. So i would like to know, clear and simple, is it necessary to have tax returns for few years behind? I see here members who have even put even a cover letter of what other documents are accompanying the Affidavit of Support, and again, i have never seen anything being said about it on the USCIS site.

So why is everyone adding more stuff to it? And does my Affidavit of Support has to notarized? Because it never says anything about that either on USCIS site.

I read the guidelines and honestly i just got more confused.

Thank you, i appreciate your help :)

    Terry

  14. hello again to all,

here i am, lost in the sauce, i was wondering how much money i need to have to be approved for the K-1 visa to go through. i have a pretty good job, and i am able to work just about as much overtime as i would like, but i was wondering if i needed to have a certain amount of funds in my bank, along with having a stable job that can provide for the two of us in the future. any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated, and thank you all so much for all the help and information you have given us

    thanks,

    terry

  15. Hello to all,

My finacee and i have put together all that we need for sending in for the K1. But i'm not sure on what the rules are for when i send it in. Can i use document protectors? Can I put it in a three-ring binder? I dont want to go through all this just to have it sent back because of unauthorized presentation. Any bit of help would surely be appreicaited. Thank you, and thank you all for all the help and advice you have given us.

  16. A VA loan guaranty is not an asset. It's a promise by the US government that they'll back your loan in case you default, which allows you to get a home loan with little or no down payment. It doesn't reduce the amount of the loan, and it has no "cash value".

In order to qualify as an asset for the affidavit of support, you must be able to convert the asset into cash with 12 months notice, without undue hardship or financial loss. You can't convert a VA loan guaranty into cash.

thank you so much, i had no idea what i was really working with. do you think that it would go in "good favor"? meaning, do you think it would help my chances at all?

  17. Hello to all,

I have been reading and filling out forms, and one thing struck me. I am a recently seperated veteran, and i was wondering, when i file for my V/A homeloan, where on the affidavit of support to I give them the information that i am a position to buy a home? Surely when they go to look at all my paperwork it would be a plus since its basically a down payment on a house. Maybe i am not looking close enough at the form, but i figured i would come and ask since there are so many people here that have so much knowledge of these things.

Thank you for you reading and good luck to all on this very special journey
