I see that one of the users Mario got his I-751 packet returned because he used a water based ink to sign and it was mistaken for a photocopy.
I used a paper mate black ink ball point pen to sign. Should it be okay ?? any views ? Thanks

Looks like you check was cashed a little later than usual compared to other folks on the VT list. Looks like the Biometrics average is around 26 to 28 days from NOA1 date. Do you plan on doing an early walk-in for the Bio ?
I'm going to have to start a brand new I-130 process soon to bring my sister's husband. I'm going to fly through that sh*t having gone through it once. I saved all of my documents in PDF and gonna come in handy now.

Am re-posting an older post on the options to get your Transcripts real quick. For those of you who don't have a Fax and can't wait the 5 to 10 days to get your transcripts in the mail and need to be able to send the Forms to USCIS immediately, you should be able to go to your local DMV office and get your transcripts in person within few minutes after filling out a form. It is free.
How to request an IRS tax transcript
Preference 1: By Phone
Call 1-800-829-1040.
When Calling Between the Hours of 7AM to 10PM,
Select “All Other Options, i.e., Option # 3"
Enter the Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
Then select option # 3, "Request a Tax Transcript/ Photocopy of your Tax Return"
Enter the Numbers in your street address.
Option 2 (Transcript of Tax Return)
Enter the year of the Return you are requesting.
Preference 2: By Phone
When calling at any other time,
Select “Option #2
Enter the Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
Then, Option #1, enter the Numbers in your street address.
Then, Option #2, enter the Year of the Return you are requesting.
Preference 3: By Mail
You can also order the transcripts by mail.

Note: By using Preference 1, Preference 2 and Preference 3, you will get your Tax transcript(s) within 7 - 14 days.
Preference 4: By Fax

…You will eventually reach a person.
Request a Tax Transcript by Fax (please be near the fax machine as it has confidential information about YOU).
Preference 5: By person appearance
If you stop by at a local IRS office and they should be able to give you Tax Transcript.
Select your State and City: http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html
Note: By using Preference 4 and Preference 5, you will get your Tax transcript(s) within 10- 15 minutes.

Try to see if you can update your address and get a new license from the DMV before sending it. If it is going to take 4 to 6 weeks for getting your new license and you have to file soon, I would say send in both your licenses and for your license attach a letter explaining the discrepancy and also attach a mail that you received at your current address preferably any mail from DMV such as registration renewal etc.
(Or)
Another option would be to avoid using DL as a proof of cohabitation and use other proofs such as lease agreements, mortgage, etc.
My (immigrant) wife and I moved twice since her being awarded a conditional permanent residency permit. We are now preparing the documents before we file to lift the conditional residency status, but we are slightly confused with what to do with our addresses. Her driver's license has our actual address of residence, whereas my driver's license lists my mother's address, which I've used to receive all my official mail at. Should one of use make a change to ither of these addresses or should we just include an explanation in our application to the different addresses? Thanks in advance.

I was able to do a walk-in to the local IRS office and get my Joint tax transcripts. So sent both the transcripts and the returns with W2/1099

USPS is closed for Martin Luther king tomorrow. Fedex and UPS are open, but they don't deliver to PO Box but I guess the USCIS has a street address with a PO Box and so is deliverable by them hopefully. So the PO Box is probably a separate section within their mail room at a physical location.
Anyone used Fedex or UPS and had it delivered fine ?

Yep. Unscrupulous people have been known to generate fake tax returns to prove income. The W-2's and 1099's are the only way they have to verify the income. The information from the W-2's and 1099's is on the tax transcripts.

Does USCIS send correspondence (such as NOA) to the current address on Form I-751 or the mailing address on the form (When different from current address) ?

Can the biometrics be done before the scheduled date after you get the NOA ?? I see a user "Stephen + Elisha" on this board mention that he did it before the scheduled appointment..(their comments given below) Has anyone done this ? I need to travel abroad with family soon and was hoping to get the biometrics done before leaving.

"He will definitely need the original letter when he gets ready to travel back to the U.S. CBP will have record of his extension at the POE but the airlines will demand to see the original letter before they'll let him board a US-bound flight.
I can't speak to the questions regarding biometrics scheduling. We did a walk-in on ours the day after we got the letter, a few weeks before the scheduled appointment.
Just out of curiosity, how long has your husband been out of the country? "

Hi Loto,
I just collected Divya's passport from the Blue Dart courier office. Got the sealed envelope and a note not to open it along with the passport.
On the VISA stamp on her passport, there is an extra 'O1' after her IV case number MDR2010******. Was that the case with Fathima's too ?

Hi Loto,
The passport was handed to Blue Dart yesterday evening (01/13) as per VFS and I think it should be here today afternoon. Just spoke to the blue dart people. I guess the option to collect it from the counter is available only for the day the passport gets to VFS and if it is not collected between 4 and 5 pm the same day, it gets couriered out.
Anyways, Am so glad it is over. Was a little nervous with how Divya was gonna handle the interview as she was very playful when I was coaching her for the interview
Doubly glad that am far away from the cooooooooooold weather in New York 
and am enjoying every bit of the warm but not hot weather. I work at night time from here (6pm IST to 2 AM IST) and get up little late.
Divya and her family are really happy that this thing is finally over as I had them running around for the paper work, etc
Hope to see you and Fathima soon in NY. Also, let me know in case you or Fathima want something to be brought from India and we should be able to bring it for you when we come there.

Hi Guys,
Firstly let me apologize for having not been on this forum for a while. Am still in India and having a good time here.
My wife had her interview yesterday at the Chennai Consulate and her visa was approved.
Her interview was at 8:00 AM. We reached the consulate at 6:30 AM and was called in at around 7:40 AM and she was given a token.
She went in and waited for around an hour for her interview with the Indian ICO.
She was called by the Indian ICO around 8:45 AM and she was asked if she needed a translator. She said yes. I had asked her
to get a translator as I wanted to make sure the accent wasn't an issue.
He asked her for the documents she had and she gave him the phone logs, tax documents and our travel/stay together in India. He skimmed through the phone logs and gave it back to her. He said the travel docs are not required and gave it back to her. He specifically looked at the tax document for 2009 and he removed the w2 and other papers from the file which was given to him. He also asked her if she had her album but did not ask to see it. He asked took the medical reports but asked her to remove the X-ray from it. She opened the cover, removed the x-ray and gave him the other medical records.
The Indian ICO asked her the following questions,
1) what is your full name ?
2) Who does you husband work for and what does he work as ?
3) Where is he right now ? Is he in India or US ? when did he come to India ?
4) What is his DOB ?
5) How do you know him ?
6) Where do you live now ?
7) Do you have your birth certificate & marriage certificates ? She said they should be with him as it was already
submitted.
8) Did you fill the form (Ds-230 form) yourself ? she said yes. He asked her why would you need a translator if you can fill the form yourself. She said she was capable of reading and filling the form herself but she wanted a translator as she was not very fluent in english and he was ok with the answer.
He asked her to sign the DS-230 part 2 and asked her to wait.
She had her finger prints taken in another 15 minutes and waited for about 45 minutes for the American ICO to call her.
She took the oath with the American ICO and the following questions were asked by the American ICO,
1) What is your full name ?
2) When did you get married ?
3) How do you know your husband ?
4) Did you get married on your own accord or otherwise ?
5) Where did the marriage happen ?
6) Asked for the album and asked her to show the "Solemnizing" pictures. He looked at the pics smiled and said his birthday
was the same as our wedding day.
He said Congratulations, Your visa has been approved and gave her the original birth certificate and marriage certificate back. He also took the right thumb finger print again.
She was out by 10:20 AM.

)A part of the grilling could also be attributed to the fact that you were married before and she surrendered here GC once.
But at the end of the day, who cares what they ask
she is done with this process for good and she can now start her studies and focus on the stuff that really matters

I slept morning around 3:00AM and woke up really late around 9:30AM today. Also tied up at office in the morning. I have prepared the entire review of the interview steps for you, after talking to my wife over an hour or more. I hope this will be helpful to you guys.

Interview Process
My wife reached the consulate at 7:30AM though her interview was at 9:00AM.
The security screening process started at 8:15AM and she was able to enter the Consulate at 8:30AM. After showing her appointment letter, the token was handed over and asked her to watch the screen for her turn.
First Interview (8:45AM to 9:20AM)
She was called at Counter# 18 at 8:45AM by an Indian Consulate Officer (ICO). ICO had entire file in front of him forwarded by NVC. He asked her if she needs a language translator. She said "No Sir, I am comfortable with the interview in English".
He took the below from her:
* Passport
* Medical report
* Phone logs
* Chat/Email logs
* Religious Marriage Certificate
* All the pictures including wedding album and honeymoon pictures
* Previous tax documents including my W-2 (She said it is with my husband and I don't have it!)
He didn't bother to ask any of the other evidences like child's documents, joint property documents, affidavits from third parties etc. though we had all of them.
After the review of all those docs, he started questioning her.
Literally, she was grilled with almost all the questions in the forms DS-230, I-864, I-130 and G-325A. Luckily, she had prepared well for all those questions and answers.
In addition, the below questions were also asked by ICO.
Q) Who is the petitioner?
Q) In which visa you went to the U.S for the first time?
Q) Why did you surrender your first Green card?
Q) How long you were there in the U.S with him?
Q) Have you traveled to any other countries before the first U.S trip?
Q) What's your husband's job?
Q) When did he reach the U.S for the first time?
Q) When did he divorce, where and for what reason?
Q) Where is his son in the previous marriage living now?
Q) How many kids you have together?
Q) How many kids your husband has?
Q) Your other name used and his ex-wife's name do not match to your religious names, why is that so?
Q) What was the reason to quit the U.S Army?
Q) Do you wish to collect your passport from VFS counter or courier it?
He also collected her landline, cell#, my cell#, her email id and entered them into the system.
Finally, he asked her to sign DS-230 part 2.
This interview lasted until around 9:20AM. Then ICO asked her to take seat and wait.
At 10:30AM, she was called again to take all her 10 fingers' prints. Again wait started.
Second Interview (12:30PM to 12:40PM)
At 12:30PM, she was called again by an American Consulate Officer (ACO). ACO greeted her and apologized by being late. ACO took her oath before starting further.
ACO asked the below questions:
Q) Who is the petitioner?
Q) When was your marriage?
Q) How did you meet each other?
Q) What quality of your husband attracted you to marry him?
Q) What is his educational background?
Q) Why did you surrender your first Green card?
Q) Were you married before?
Q) What was the reason to quit the U.S Army?
Then ACO asked her to show our wedding album.
Finally, ACO returned all the originals that we submitted to NVC back to her.
Wish you a good day and your visa is APPROVED! Congratulations! She offered many thanks back to him!
This interview lasted until around 12:40PM.
Finally she left the consulate building after 12:45PM. That's it!

Am not a big fan of street food. When you can have good home cooked food, why go for the street stuff ?
Here's my advice. Run down to the pharmacy ASAP. Buy yourself some Pepto-Bismol and other stomach-ache medicine. Then when you're in India, enjoy the street food as much as you can. Stay away from pani puris, though. But eat everything else. You won't find such good and tasty street food anywhere else. The best thing about going to over-crowded Asian countries is the street food. Hands down; Bottoms up. So enjoy it. I'm gonna be doing the same in couple of months.
