  1. We filed and were approved for an IR1 visa. My hubby just received his 10 year green card in the mail we have no idea what to do next.

I think we are done for now until we reach the 3 year mark and he can apply for naturalization? Or have we missed something?

    [/qu

Congrats!!! Let me ask you this right quick lol. How long have your hubby been living in the country before he received his 10 year green card? How long have you guys been married? We are celebrating our 3rd anniversary on May 24th but I have been in the country a little over a year.

  2. thanks a lot, i didnt know that. pls where is the NPC in lagos? can someone get it for u? i dont reside in Lagos.

thanks a lot, i didnt know that. pls where is the NPC in lagos? can someone get it for u? i dont reside in Lagos.

Where do you reside? National Population Commission is in all state of the federation. You can obtain yours any where in Nigeria.I did mine in Ondo State and was accepted. Save time and money!!!

  3. Your wife and kid do not qualify to be interviewed because when you file, you filled being single. So any attempt for you now to say you're married with a kid would become a material misrepresentation in your case. The truth is, it's only you the embassy wants to see during the interview, otherwise, they'll say you lied about your marital status and that could lead to the denial of your visa which you don't want to see happen. Also, you didn't list any family in your DV form when you apply for the lottery.

    SIMPLE SOLUTION

Go alone to your interview and obtain the visa... Then file for your family to come after you've become a citizen. That's your sure bet, otherwise you may be pursuing a deep shadow of yourself. Pls be wise..

    IN CONCLUSION,

Sell your land after obtaining the visa and travel. Then try as much as possible to work in other for you to be able to sponsor your wife and kid to come. Remember you'll submit an affidavit of support which requires that they won't become a public charge when you're ready to file for them. Think about all these..

Go for the interview ALONE. If the CO ask you of your wife and child tell the CO that they will follow later. Do not sell the land until you have your visa. Be smart and do your best to obtain the visa. My sister and her entire family just lost FOUR THOUSAND AND NINETY FIVE DOLLARS to Lagos embassy. Good luck to you!!!

  4. Okay so in a former post I made note that I was going to Nigeria for the 1st time and that I was going to meet my fiance for the 1st time and get married then file a CR1 but some people have told me that I should not do this because my fiance filed for a B1 visa 11/28/11 and was denied and this could raise flags with the embassy (yes we had planned to get married on the B1 but he WAS GOING TO RETURN HOME; not stay and file for an AOS) and then I was going to start the CR1 process after he returned to Nigeria....so since he got denied the plan was as follows:

    1. Go to Nigeria for 15 days after a week together get married and a registry (my mom and daughter going with me)

    2. Come back to America start the CR1 process

so is this not what I should do? I don't want to raise any "red flags" with the embassy but we want to be married we don't mind the time it will take after we are married to be together but we don't want to wait forever to be married...does that make sense?...we really love each other that I know....

so should we follow the plan above or,

    B.

Go meet him not get married and return to the US and file a K1? (much longer to be married :( )

    C.

Go meet him and still get married as we plan to,

but file for the CR1 a few months later like in Aug or September 2012?

    or..........

This is very exhausting and my journey has just started :(

Sorry if I sound like a broken record already...I really just need help! We had no idea what was involved for us to be together

Me and my wife got married THREE days into her first visit.

  5. I think you may have actually gotten a good deal. My search has been crazy. I even tried to get a POA to add him to my CC so we could book online.I finally just called an agent in Houston & his prices were ok. But we are waiting for late this month. I so wish he could be here for Christmas, but I am also glad he will have the extra time with his family there.

Who did you use for it?

I did it myself.I used my domiciliary Account [DOLLAR ACCOUNT] in Nigerian to wire the money to United States because I have heard that Credit Card payment is always an issue in Lagos Airport. My brother in-law based in Nigeria has help a lot of people wire their money too.The choice is yours.

  6. Wow congrats, that was fast! What steps did you take?

All I did was take a driving class this past Saturday through an approved agent for 45 dollars.Today I went to the DMV Licensing office, take a written test on the computer and pass the test.Secondly we went on a Road test, come back to the office and was told i pass.I paid 21dollars and 50cent for the License.

  7. I think it all depends on Lagos consulate and the nature of your case.Be sure that DOS or USCIS will notify you as soon as they receive your case. Your case might still be in Lagos for some review and you may be given second interview.I am telling you this from our experience.I was denied and was told that our petition will be return to USCIS for possible revocation. But guess what? they hold down our application for good FOUR months after which i was given a second interview. You can read our story.Me and my QUEEN left Nigeria for united states on the 1st of December with less than ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS one way ticket. We think you should be patient and hope for the best.

  8. You can also buy a ticket in Nigeria using wire money transfer,US DOLLARS.Me and my wife came to Atlanta GA on the second of this month using wire transfer payment with NO question at the airport about it.We used delta airline, one of the best airline you can think of and we pay less than ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS,one way to Atlanta GA.For more information if you are interested, contact AY on ayodebconsult@yahoo.com or 08027336912. For now i think he can give you the cheapest ticket from Nigeria to united states.

  9. I believe they usually expire in 6 months to 1 year depending on the country (someone correct me if I am wrong), and the exam includes any needed vaccinations.

We also thought that the medical expires after one year.Even the pick up visa letter said the medical is valid for one year.May be the consulate want recent updated medical report. Our first medical was done on may 10 and was exactly six month on November 10 on the date of my re-interview.

  10. Dear visa journey members. This is my story with Nigeria consulate. On July 6 I went for my interview and was denied. The CO told me and also gave me a slip explaining that our relationship is for "immigration purposes" and that they are sending our petition back to USCIS with their recommendation that the petition be revoke. We said to ourselves that is time to execute our plan B,to live in Nigeria. My wife came to Nigeria in September to live with me. When she arrived,we decided to email the consulate that she is here with me. The consulate replied that I have been told to return for my interview on November 10. We were surprised because neither me or my wife received any email from the embassy. To be so sure of this I email the consulate again telling them that I have been told to return for my interview but I have no idea what I should come with because my police certificate has expire and my medical record is with the consulate. They replied the following day confirming my appointment also said that I will be advice accordingly on the day of my interview. This time me and my wife were convinced that yes we have an interview. We used our discretion to get another police report a day before the interview. My appointment was 1pm. That day I step into the consular section at 1:07pm. At about 3:55pm my number was called to window 13. It was this young white guy. This is how it went:

    CO:Good afternoon sir

    ME:Good afternoon to you

CO:What did you bring that you did not come with in your first interview?

ME:I was surprise to hear that because nobody told me to bring anything.I use my initiative and gave him our recent pictures we took at our district convention of Jehovah"s witnesses.

CO:Looking at the pictures he point at my wife and said is she the one?

ME:yes, she is outside as I speak with you.

CO:smiling and said I believe your relationship is real. He ask me what is my wife favorite Nigeria food?

ME:Fufu. He started laughing even those seated waiting for their interview were laughing too because they heard everything. Then I brought our three books of call logs, instant messaging and emails. It was made as a book with our pictures on the front page. This is what I brought to the first interview except the third one that contained recent call logs.

    CO:What is all of that?

    ME:call logs,instant messaging and emails.

    CO:All of that?

    ME:yes

CO:can I see any of them?

ME:yes.I gave him one of the books.

CO:She made this? It is beautiful and was smiling. He opened a page read something and was smiling. He kept saying more than five times that he believe our relationship is real and was typing.

CO:We are going to issue you a visa but your police report and medical has expired.

    ME:Here is the police report.

CO:Thank you sir. He continued typing. He left and came back with a paper and told me that the medical is only valid for six month and gave me the paper and the address of the two hospital to go for the medical. That I can return 1pm any weekdays with the report and I will be issued a visa. The following day me and my wife went for the medical report. 14th of November I went to pick the medical result and went back to the consulate. I was the first person to go in for 1pm appointment. At about 2:15pm a young Nigerian guy called my name not my number to come to window 21. He ask for the medical and my international passport which I gave to him. He then gave me the letter to go pick up my visa on the 21st. javascript:emoticon(':kicking:')

  11. If you had read my post thoroughly, you would of realized that I did not join VJ until much later, so your thoughts or advice would of come in too late. Therefore, your rude replies now are not going to make a difference either way.

For the rest of your comments, I will not respond to for it is irrelevant to the facts and it is a personal opinion, which is left at that.

Weather the immigration is a privilege or right, it should have all the facts available from the start for the petitioner. But then neither one of you gentlemen, is dealing or have dealt with the common issues, us women are dealing with here. It is not inconvenience that is being addressed here, it is mere facts which needs to be disclosed early on so one can proceed.

Let's keep insults to ourselves and address each other with respect. No need to make assumptions.

FYI I don't need a nanny, I need the facts to be provided to me by the same government that I support and believe in.

I feel you are absolutely correct. I feel like we are guilty until proven innocent. I feel like everyone should have the right to come to united states. Most poor countries don't care when united states citizen comes there, is the people in other countries lives any different then our lives here. People from Europe and united states go to poor countries(like nigeria) and give their people medicine to kill them and destroy there land, and steal their oil, but they cant even visit here. I think it is a sign of prejudice.

  12. You are going through a very high fraud consulate, meaning it is very difficult to get a visa, especially with only one visit. Can you contact the consulate and ask if they give you (the petitioner) an interview? The petitioner being willing to drop everything and fly over to meet the CO often helps.

I am going there on the 23rd so I will do that.

  13. Sorry to hear that. A quick divorce and re-marriage by itself doesn't usually cause AR, though you are going through possibly the most difficult US embassy to get a visa. Are there any other red flags, such as few visits, age difference, or your ex also being from abroad?

My husband is 32 and I am 38. I visit there one time but I stayed 30 days. I had everything, call logs, pictures, wedding pictures, and instant messages. They didn't even ask us to give them anything additional.

Nope my ex is from New York.
