  1. Ok so I understand that K-1 applicants do not need to get another medical exam done. I had mine completed in May right before my visa interview. However I also heard that USCIS can sometimes "lose" your medical, and then send you an RFE for another one. Thinking ahead, I was able to convince my POE officer to make me a photocopy of the medical from the brown envelope. So, if I were to get an RFE for my medical because they "lost" it. Would it be sufficient to send in the copy I had made? Or are they looking for something different? Thank you :)

I'm thinking that since you crossed at a less busy land border crossing - chances are it should all be in one piece. I doubt Blaine Peace Arch deal with as many 'immigrant' visas as say LAX do.

Good for you for getting a copy though! We were both October '10 K-1 filers. Glad you are close to then end of it all! xxxxx

  2. Congratulations! We almost have the same timeline, except that I haven't heard anything about my EAD/AP yet and my AOS interview is still on the 26th. What I am waiting for right now is a job interview set at 10AM, so I'm browsing websites to keep me from being anxious about it.

Thank you everyone! It's so exciting!!

I had my first job interview too this past week. Fingers crossed for a second next week sometimes! Good luck to you Kezia! xx

  3. Had my interview today and was in and out in about 20 minutes! Wonderful.

Was sworn in with my husband at his desk. The officer asked only one question... "So you met at X place how did that happen?"

He then went through my i-485 application to make sure all the information was correct then asked for a copy of our marriage certificate since it got misplaced.

We bought oodles of evidence with us just in case - like joint bank statements, photos, insurance, phone bills etc and he didn't ask to see a thing.

Completely painless and easy. Said I should receive my Green Card in 30 days but I'm sure it will be much sooner.

    YAY! xxxx

  4. I would have it transcribed. It's not worth the further delay if you do have an RFE. You still have plenty of time before it comes to AOS so organise it now. Find a reasonably priced civil surgeon who can do it for you now to avoid hassle later. It seems that some people have been having problems when it comes to the medicals at AOS.

Also, I suggest that you get a complete copy of your medical from your home country - there have been some cases where USCIS have 'lost' peoples entire medicals. Which means you need to fork out a couple of hundreds bucks to have it redone! I sent in a copy of my entire medical plus the immunisation transcription with AOS just in case and had no problems.

Good luck :) Hope this helps x

  5. Yeah...when we were waiting for our K-1 our online status never left pending, even after we were approved. I don't trust the website to give us up-to-date information.

I always call the 1-800 number and press the option that is something like 'case file status' then 'i lost my case file number' and you always get someone on the phone in less than like 5 minutes. I think though that if you speak with a customer service person they can only see the same info you see on the website.

My EAD and AP case numbers still do not show on the website - so they always put me through to an officer for updates since they can't see the information either.

    Hope this helps.

  6. On June 14, 2011, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

ooh yay! no interview for you!

Is it me or does it seem like this whole process is going pretty quickly?>??!!!

  7. Hey there,

wow it looks like we all sent our AOS around the same time this is my timeline. do you guys received a letter stating that your case was transferred to your state USCIS office ... the biometrics letter was the last thing i have received ... no changes whatsoever not even online ..im starting to get worried

    3/25/11 Got Married

    5/3/11 Sent AOS package

5/5/11 Package received signed by; R.Mercado

    5/13/11 Received NOA1 (6th day)

    5/16/11 Biometrics Letter (8 days)

    5/20/11 Walk in Biometrics done

I didn't receive a letter stating my case was transferred anywhere. I did however check my online status today and for the first time my case number came up. I have been scheduled an AOS interview for next month - still no status updates for my AP or EAD at all on the website though.

    I'm sure you'll hear something soon :)

  8. Wow so by some fluke I just checked my uscis.gov status and for the first time ever I was able to see some info...

"On June 8, 2011, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for July 14, 2011, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Looks like I have another month to wait. I wonder why we are being interviewed? At least no RFE! Yay! Hopefully EAD will come sooner! x

  9. Thanks for your input on my biometrics drama, everyone! We took a two-pronged approach. My husband express mailed another reschedule request with a detailed cover letter on Friday (so it arrived this morning). He then waited until late afternoon and showed up at the center again, this time with our flight reservation confirmation. Since they received his request this morning they were able to see that he had already gone through the paperwork and they were not nearly as busy as the first time he tried. After some sad faces they finally let him do a walk-in and he's officially processed!

They just don't make anything easy, do they?

Honeymoon in 4 days! Now we can relax and not worry about this application for a few days.

So glad you got the biometrics sorted out! Have a wonderful time on your honeymoon!

    xx

In other news, my EAD expedite request was denied based on the grounds that no evidence was submitted. Ugh. I had submitted evidence with our original application. So we have contacted our congresswoman whose office is amazeballs in getting things done. Fingers crossed! Work is supposed to start in a couple of weeks!

  10. Question for those that are already in the US....how has everyone gone getting a US driver's license?

I know it probably varies from state to state but I was just curious to see what other ppl have experienced. I've looked at the Texas state DMV website, but it really doesn't tell you anything if you have an international driver's license..only what to do if you have one from another US state.

Sorry if this question has been asked before  .

Washington State has no reciprocal arrangement with any other countries except Germany and BC, Canada. Go figure. My clean 10 year Australian drivers license doesn't mean a thing here. So I have to apply for my license as a learner! haha. This will be fun - reverse parallel parking on the opposite side of the road - uh oh! Maybe this is a blessing in disguise??!

Oh, I also cannot apply without my Green Card. BOO!!!!

  11. That is totally normal!

As far as how the USCIS system works, my husband submitted his AOS package in mid march, and we have yet to see any type of status online for his I-485. System says case can not be found online. But I will say that my hubby's I-765 started showing online when they ordered card production 05/27/2011. Each case is different so no guarantees your case will also show online sometime in the future. It is a 50/50 possibility

For some reason I am going to guess you have a receipt number that starts with MSC*******.

They have been having problems with online status for years. When we called to get a status update they said they were having technicall difficulties with those receipt numbers and were looking on fixing that issue. Did some google search and applicants have not been able to see their status online for years with those receipt numbers. So from what I gather they will never fix it!

ha! cool, correct it is an MSC number. I'm over calling and getting them to fix it. Thanks for that :) x

  12. I noticed that you have almost identical timeline to mine. Was your case transferred to CSC yet? Did you notice say National Benefit Center via e-mail? Just wanted to check since this is a little strange in my case.

Got all my NOA1's - The letter says "The above petition/application has been received by our office and is in process." The email says "Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing."

I received my biometrics notice and have had that done.

I don't think it's unusual that it hasn't been transferred to CSC or where ever else it needs to go. I recall reading somewhere on VJ that the first stop if always the NBC and this is where they issue letters for Biometrics.

Hopefully we should hear something in the next couple of days. I'm dying here with no updates/no nothing!
