Many people that filed in July and their case was in VSC got their NOA2 already, so those who are at VSC and get touched, this might be a good sign, you will probably get NOA2 soon!

Expedite requests are usually granted within 3 weeks. IMO, the only way to stay on top of it, is for the USCitizen/Petitioner to call in, ask to speak with ISO, Tier 2 Human, at USCIS - see http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm#5

im reviewing my wife's NBI clearance, but it does not have an AKA notation on there. what does show is Name: MAIDEN NAME de MARRIED NAME, FIRST NAME y MIDDLE INITIALS.

she got the renewal and just brought NSO issued marriage certificate and her passport that showed her married name.

We filed for expedite on account of my wife's daughter having cystic fibrosis, she's 8 years old. Medical bills coming in, my wife is a student, works part time and her daughter being special needs having big medical bills and monthly doctor checkups..she needs me. I used to live with them before my other visa expired, so I helped support the household and take care of my step daughter. We requested an expedite last week and my wife faxed in her daughter's medical record on Thursday of last week. USCIS didn't want any bills, just the medical record..and then we got touches on the 28, 29 and 30 of september...so now it's been quiet the last few days...my gut tells me they're processing all the background checks and things like that and I'll get approved this week or early next week...but that's wishful thinking. Either that or they're handwriting the denial of expedite letter , lol.

So any ideas on how long we should possibly wait to give USCIS a call to see if they're going to expedite our petition? Another week if we don't hear anything is my thought.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you get approve then. There's no way for me to do this but if I will be given a chance to choose who to expedite, I'll choose yours. That must be hard. I pray you get to hear from USCIS soon. God bless you and your stepdaughter!

I called the used to be Carriedo office. They transferred already. I was told that I don't need to have a AKA notation because I don't have issues with my name. My single name will still be shown. And that, I can get it in Cebu.

We got touched October 3 Both I130 and 129F. Oct 3 is Sunday though?.? Haha. As long as it was touched, we are happy!!! Hahaha. Oh, we weren't able to send the supporting docs on the expedite though so our case is not expedite yet.

Well, I'm glad you got a better response. USCIS expedites are not done over the phone, so asking you for information and to fill out a form is normal

USCIS expedites based on certain criteria, so Matt will have to prove one of the following:

Severe financial loss to company or individual

Extreme emergent situation

Humanitarian situation

Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

USCIS error

Compelling interest of USCIS

So I'm not sure which one of these apply to you but you'll have to show documentation about the situation and why is it necessary for an expedite. I've seen expedites for imminent military deployment, life/death illness, and complicated pregnancies requiring the other spouse present for income and care. Which one are you guys looking at as your reason for expedite?

Matt received the letter already and we pre-qualify the expedite according to USCIS rep. But still, the decision will be up until they have our papers if we really qualify. I'm still out of town so I can process the documents sometime this week.

About the expedite update:

Matt called USCIS today to see if he gets another answer to our expedite request. And he did! This time, the rep was very nice and felt sorry because of the information that was given to Matt yesterday by another rep. So, the information is available and they will mail something to him and he will fill up that form along with a letter and possibly, some supporting documents of why he should be approved for an expedite.

Is this a new process? Hehe.

I'll be out of town today but I'll get back to VJ whenever I can and Matt is busy also.

Better once you have your NOA2...the feds can be fickle sometimes You have to plan to be there a few hours, especially if there is a hit on your name...if there is they will ask you to come back after 2 or 3 days.

I went there 7:00 a.m. and was out by 9:30 a.m.

I'll take that advice. Whew! I really hope they also process in Cebu.

I'm actually going to Manila tomorrow to attend a conference but I have a tight schedule. So, I'll take a chance on calling Carriedo's office. If it's issue only there, hmmmm, do you think I should get a copy?

Yes you can get an NBI clearance anywhere in the Philippines, however, the first time I got my NBI clearance in my married name, I went to the satellite office in Las Pinas, but it did not have the AKA notation.

When I asked them about that, and they told me I had to go to the head office in Carriedo Manila to request for the NBI Clearance with AKA notation because they are the ones authorized to issue it. This is a very specific requirement...am offering this information so other applicants do not make the same mistake.

Matt and Evieve, it cannot hurt to make a phone call to the NBI in Cebu to confirm that they also can issue this for you...worst case is you have to go to Manila to get it. I don't have any information on whether Cebu can process this for you.

NBI clearance with AKA notation is what you will submit since you are married; it must display your current married name and your single name.

If an applicant has been previously married, the previous married name must also appear.

u have 2 options, which ever is closer to ur place, #s 6 and 9. I got 2 copies after i got my NOA2 approval.

Wow. So, you were able to get your NBI clearance using your personal copy with your single name in it? What I have now is a personal copy of my single name but I think I need an NBI clearance of my married name. Right?

I dont know they keep saying k-3 is dead now but i am on k-3 just had interview this year and got approved.I think nbi clearance is save for the interview in manila only, i mean dont think the nvc needs one.

Did the NVC require for your husband's NBI? What do you mean inquire an nbi with AKA, did you have error of your name on your nso ?

No, I meant my NBI. That is one of my questions if the NVC will ask for my NBI. We are I think pushing through Cr1 since K3 is dead now. About the AKA annotation, that's what marriedtomrg said.

I believe you can get your nbi anywhere in the phils, that time i was in manila for my interview they were asking me to get another nbi clearance with alias because had some error on my nso before which i have it corrected already, but anyway when i asked the consul he told me that i can get it manila (am from cebu).
