  1. Well called USCIS and they were very reassuring. The agent said that they've been receiving quite a few calls all morning from people whose applications were received more than 30 days ago and for that reason and that reason alone she thinks I shouldn't worry just yet. She said if I still don't get anything from them in 2-3 weeks that would be a problem.

This seems like a long time to me, 6 weeks would have passed by then, but...?

What do you guys think? :help:

Do not worry! You are not alone... I am in the same situation. We sent our documents on the 20-th of May, and nothing... I called them, and they said, wait at least 4 week (total) and then call back (( So I just try not to think about that too much...

    Good luck!!!

  2. she does not have to have an interview my husband did not have an interview for AOS also just like the previous poster said make sure it is on the I485 and not the I765....congrats

    I copied this :

nterview (in person) for Adjustment of Status

Eventually most people (see exception below) will receive a letter from the CIS informing you of your interview date. It will include instructions on what to bring to the interview and any required items you may need to complete before hand. One of the most critical items requested will be "evidence of the relationship" which proves that your marriage is true and faithful (i.e. photos, joint checking account, joint lease, joint mortgage, and birth certificates of children if any, etc.). Also, it is important to bring the current passport of the beneficiary to the interview. The interview is fairly painless and may be video recorded and lasts between 15-30 minutes. If approved you will be mailed your "green-card" shortly after the interview date (weeks).

Interview Exception. In some cases a beneficiary's Adjustment of Status case may be transfered to the California Service Center (possibly another location) where the CIS will attempt to complete processing without requirinig an "in person" interview. There is no particular way to know if this will happen to your case however if this does happen then you will not be required to attend an interview in person. If the I-485 is approved the beneficiary's green card will simply be mailed to them.

  3. MY WIFE HAD RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM USCIS SAYING THAT HER CARD PRODUCTION HAD BEEN ORDER AND SHE WILL BE GETTING HER CARD WITHIN 30 DAYS. I GUESSED ITS THE GREENCARD BUT I THOUGHT THAT SHE HAVE TO HAVE HER INTERVIEW FIRST FOR AOS. WE WERE WAITING FOR THE USCIS DECISION TO APPROVED THE AOS APPLICATION. THE ONLY EMAIL THAT SHE HAD RECEIVED ABOUT HER AOS APPLICATION WAS THAT IT WAS BEING PROCESSED IN CALIF. THE LAST UPDATE WAS THAT HER CARD IS BEING ORDER AND SHE WILL RECEIVED IT IN 30 DAYS. DOES SHE STILL HAVE TO HAVE A INTERVIEW AFTER RECEIVING HER GREENCARD. IM CONFUSED, CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME A ANSWER ON THIS. THANK YOU EVERYONE.

On US gov. web site says that you can get your greencard without an interview.

  4. Hi everyone!

We are preparing documents for my AOS and for my son. He is 2 years old. We want my husband be his official dad... so my question is if we have to do that before his AOS or we can do that after? I am a little confused about last name changes... what last name should we put for my son? I mean we all want to have the same last name ( my husband's ). But I do not know if we are allowed to do that now...Thanks!

  5. Hi Luliia+Nick,

I don't know what the rules/laws in your state are but this was my experience when I got married in California.

We had to apply for marriage certificate at our county office. When we filled out the form, both the husband and wife have to state what their new name would be after marriage if they want to change their last based on marriage.

    Thanks so much!

We live in Nevada. We applied for marriage license first and that got married. No one ask us for name change...If I want or not. They do not do that in marriage certificate, I suppose.. I do not know for sure.

  6. I came to US 2 weeks ago and our visas will be expired on the beginning of June. We are planning our marriage in 2 weeks. We did all needed vaccinations at home but there are some more that are requeired in US but not in Ukraine. They told me ( when we passed our med. exam in Ukraine ) that we should do them in US. I do not know till what age they should be done. No clue about timetable... My son is not 3 yet.
