  1. When I read your post I thought it was the story of my life. I totally understand what you've been through. Apparently 3 pages of people posting that they are in the same situation made you feel better..at least I feel better hearing that there's people out there in the same boat. I'm peruvian too, been in the states several times and I even lived in another country(Japan)which it was hard to adjust but to be honest this time is even worse. Like you there are times I just think I can't hold it anymore and I want to leave but oh boy! I got married to a great guy and I'm sure every sacrifice really worth it.

It's funny but I think the same about american food. Instead of complaining I thought: Well, there's good food too and a diversity of ingredients so I put aside any stereotype or rule and for example I cook some peruvian dishes with chili habanero. My husband love spicy food and he thinks it's amazing and he finally learned how to eat rice.. Somos peruanos sin arroz, no nos llenamos!. From what I read you are sad and depressive. It's true, the lack of family and friends, not knowing what to do because we just can't work without authorization, having so much free time, boredom, thinking too much because you are done with the cleaning, cooking and you just don't know what to do is depressing I know that but look at the bright side our country isn't perfect either it's becoming more dangerous and more chaotic considering years ago and it is so sad but a lot of incompetent people is always around.

*sigh* I wish visajourney create a forum to connect people who live in a certain area..

  2. I had exactly the same problem. I was denied tourist visa and student visa and before that I had a valid tourist visa which was cancelled because the person who interviewed me thought I didn't have enough ties to my country. When I went to the interview of my k1 visa I was a nervous wreck but they only asked me if I've ever been in the states and what I did before as long as your husband knows you very well it shouldn't be a problem. My advice: be ready for that question just in case!

  3. Hi Nekochan

Packet 3 is a bunch of instructions pretty much the same listed on the embassy checklist and things you have to submit like DS230, copy of previous visa if any, I think it depends on the case I was asked to submit my Gaikokujin torokusho since I'm not japanese and copy of previous american visa. If you have everything ready and you already send the DS230 form you can schedule an appointment. Packet 4 is the confirmation of the interview (it's up to you when you want your interview) they recommend that there is usually appointment slots available 3 to 5 weeks after receiving your appointment request. Well I thought let's try my good luck and I got an appointment one week in advance.

About the police certificate I went to Chiba police dpt. too  and just in case make sure you go the correct police st. there are like 3 headquarters. You have to go to the one that is in Chiba Minato Station (10 min walk). I don't know if you can ask for the police certificate before NOA2. They were really focus on finding some part that says "fiance petition".

And I recommend you to go to Seibo Hospital.. no questions, pretty easy. The only question was have you ever been sick in the past? I was expecting a complete medical report but nothing at all!!!

    Good luck!

  4. Some tips about Tokyo embassy. I just got my interview there a couple of days ago.

    - Get the police certificate as soon as you get NOA2 in the mail (the Japanese police Dpt. requires that. Do not wait until the consulate send you packet 3 is just a waste of time.

    - Get the medical as soon as you have your number case ready (the NVC letter, you don't need to show the letter just the case number). Keep in mind the medical has to be valid when the beneficiary enter the US.

    - Get 3 pictures (5 x 5cm) showing your ears!

    - About schedule the interview: According to the packet 4. It says it might take 3 to 5 weeks to schedule an interview. Well like everybody here I can't wait to see my fiance so I scheduled just one week in advance and lucky me there was an available slot.

Good luck.. and I suggest you to be prepare about the questions I noticed some consuls spent more time staring at the beneficiary and how they react to the questions rather than reading the information submitted.

  5. I suggest you to support your fiance as much as you can. I've been denied (student visa) and I had a visa tourist canceled even though it was still valid at consulate in Lima before and I just went to my k1 visa interview a couple of days ago this time at tokyo embassy (since I'm a resident of Japan) they didn't ask me anything at all about the previous denial the only thing they asked was if I've ever been to the US, how many times and what I did there. I prepared myself for months and I can tell it went smooth because I asked everything to my fiance beforehand. I even asked about his family and lucky me they asked me about them too.

Hang in there. I totally understand your concern but as long as your relationship is real and you know enough your fiance would be easy.

  6. I didn't have any boarding passes. Neither my fiance. In fact he is the petitioner and I'm the beneficiary. We met in Japan while we were both living there and since I'm not japanese i need to prove I was at the same time with him. I know sounds so ridiculous to translate something so obvious (like TOKYO-JAPAN!!!!!) but better safe than sorry and as my RFE states the translation doesn't need to be notarized... I'm sorry I don't have the RFE right now but I remember that part.

  7. Yes you need to translate your passport stamps if they are not in english but anyone competent in both languages can do it. As my RFE letter says: any foreign document (Including passport stamps) has to be translated to english but it doesn't need to be notarized. Don't bother sending more pictures with dates included because pictures are consider secondary evidence.

You will get your NOA2 soon I spent hours checking other profiles and most people get their NOA2 within 2 weeks of submitted your response so hang in there and get your passport stamp translate ASAP.

  8. A long time ago I applied to get a student visa which was denied but I also I had a valid tourist visa which was stamped with "Canceled without prejudice" Do you think that would affect my fiance visa? I didn't commit any crime, didn't do anything wrong and never overstayed a visa. I think the consul suspected I had intentions to immigrate and stay in the US since I traveled there several times even when I tried to convinced him I wanted to come back to my country he didn't believe me. I'm worried that a previous denial and a visa canceled would affect the K1.

  9. This is my first post and I start this with bad news. My fiancee filed a I-129 and after a long wait (almost 5 months) we got a RFE.. our biggest concern is USCIS sent a notification to his mailing address but he just moved. Since he is in the navy and just moved a couple of days ago he doesn't have a current mailing address. He tried calling to USCIS but didn't get a proper answer of what to do. We didn't expect an expiration date for the RFE and we are close to the deadline and we still don't know what to do. Is it better to wait until we get a mail to his old address or keep trying (and losing our patience) calling USCIS?
