  1. My wife and I were married last July on a K-1. Her I-94 expired in August and we still have not applied for AOS. We are in the process of doing so now, but in the meantime we are in need of a SSN for her. Is this possible or did we totally miss the boat? It is extremely important we get one ASAP and am wondering what the quickest way to do so is.

As always, thanks in advance for any help!

  2. Yes you can wait in Rio for them to ship the Passport/Visa back to the hotel or wherever you are staying. Historically it generally takes 2 days to get it. I am still not sure whether you have to pay for the expedite fee to get it that quick or not. We are hoping to get ours within two days after the interview and flying directly from Rio. If you look at many peoples timelines, this entirely possible. Good luck!

  3. It is anybody's guess as to what can or will happen. When I filed, everyone acted like it was great that I got the VSC because they were a month ahead of the CSC at that time. Right after filing they stopped moving and the July filers got stuck for quite some time. Once they got to August they started to become steady again and then slowed almost to a halt for us September filers. It can go any way, go with your gut feeling after looking at the trends and decide for yourself.

Welcome to this terrible process. Hope your journey goes smooth and as expected! Boa sorte!

  4. I don't know entirely if your consulate will require copies of your tax returns - most of them do - but I know you will definitely have to send tax returns for at least the most recent year when filing form I-864 (adjustment of status)

If you can't come up with the tax info now, will you be able to within 90 days of your fiancee entering the US?

Are you sure of this information? I have never heard of providing this at the AOS. I don't think my last tax return will show enough. I was significantly promoted just this year so my current situation is fine. :help:

  5. I am sure this question has been adequately addressed elsewhere in the forums but I was unable to find the answer to my question.

I am getting my financial support docs together and was wondering if a letter from my employer (direct from my Marketing Manager, not HR) as well as bank statements supporting that and the titles to two vehicles would be enough. It is harder for me to get the tax information so I was wondering if I would be safe with those items.

    All opinions appreciated, thanks!

  6. I had the same NOA-1 date, I called people everyday about it. You can't just sit and wait! Call your Senator and your Congressman! My Congressman was able to get me an "expedite" and I had NOA-2 a week later. It's still going to be a ridiculously long wait, but once you are past 6 months they can help you. Call your local representatives and let them know how long you've been waiting. They can call and usually get a response that same day. Good luck!

  7. Welcome to America beneficiaries! I'm not sure when you will ever be "beneficiated" (hehe) but welcome all the same! After waiting way too long for the USCIS to do their job, the government is now springing this on us. I haven't seen my fiance since November and now it looks like unless I move down there (Brazil) it could be another 3-5 months to an interview. When will the madness end?! I can just hear the excuses of a backlog now...ai ai ai! :wow:

  8. congratulations!! Still waiting on mine :( Question...what does "touched" mean on your timeline?

"Touch" is a VJ term that we refer to whenever our case is updated on the USCIS website. It doesn't happen often and in some cases never does. You can see a touch whenever the "last updated" date changes on the official USCIS website. It is updated any time someone scans your file. It could mean that they simply moved your file from one desk to another or updated the system. They did a mass update on 10/03 where the majority of Vermont Filers were "touched". That was the only one I got.

    Good luck!

  9. congrats!

ur noa1 was sep27, mines was 23 and still not noa2 but that atleast gives me hope of receiving it soon.

one question, how did u find out? mail, e-mail, text, uscis check status website, or calling up to check status

You should be in constant contact at this point with your Congressman or Senators. For me I did both. My Congressman got an expedite put in last week and I followed up with him this morning. He put me on hold and when he came back he told me they had made a decision and it would be mailed out tomorrow. He said they couldn't tell him what the decision was, just that it was made. I kept checking online every five minutes as well as calling USCIS. Finally I hit refresh and the blue dot moved! Shortly after I got the text and then the e-mail!

Don't give up, call your representatives!!! Good luck!

  10. Just got off the phone with my Congressman's case worker. He got me an expedite last week on the 23rd and I hadn't heard anything yet. I called and he put me on hold while he called the VSC. He came back after about ten minutes to tell me they made a decision on my case today and a response would be mailed tomorrow. He told me they aren't allowed to tell us the response over the phone. Any ideas of what this means?!

    Approved?! Ideas?! Anyone?

  11. There really is nothing you can do but wait and try your best to get anyone involved that you can. There is no way to expedite it unless you have a really good reason, but your "good reason" probably isn't good enough for them. I have always said that they should allow you to pay an extra fee for an expedite, it makes the most sense. If they need to hire some extra adjudicators (the people reviewing our cases) then let us pay the extra fees to have the expedite line. The fact is this isn't considered a right but a privilege. Just pray for a miracle my friend, I have seen it happen.
