If you claim your mother than she is part of your household and her household size becomes your and the household income becomes hers. If she is working for you , you are supposed to pay her and do the proper social security reporting ( it you don't she will never reach 40 quarters and you will always will be on the hook for your affidavit of support )
What is 40 quarters? Is that for social security? She has no plans to stay here permanently or become a USC, she just wants to stay for 3-5 years until one or both kids are in school. She is retired and bored. I am just looking for the proper way to get her healthcare in the meantime, as healthcare.gov is confusing when they ask about household size. Is it beneficial to claim her as a dependent?

Hi!
I am currently in the process of petitioning my mother to come here, maybe not permanently, but for a few years. I am shopping around for health insurances for her and on healthcare.gov it seems they range from 350 to as much as you want. I was wondering what others have done to get them health insurance? I am ok with purchasing her one since its still cheaper than 2 kids in daycare.
I am a little confused on healthcare.gov when I try to do an estimate, do I count me, my husband and kids are people in her household or does she count as one? I am assuming she is the only one in her "household"?
What income do I put for her, if she will just stay to watch her grandchildren? Can I put zero income? claim my mom as a dependent on my tax return?
Thanks!

Hi there!
I just mailed my mom's I130 petition last week and got my email notification. I am 13 weeks pregnant and she would like to come for the birth. She has a valid tourist visa that is good for another 6 years. I guess my question is, is she allowed to visit for 3 weeks while she has an ongoing petition? Thanks in advance!

I think we paid $340 filing fee in 2010

I agree. As long as you aren't in any divorce proceedings yet then I don't think you need to say your marital problems.. But be truthful about living apart due to school. A notarized statement that you are currently living with your inlaws might help?

All my green cards and my oath letter was not my full name but my signature which is my first initial, second initial and full last name. Received my passport just fine. My green cards, drivers license, oath letter and passport all match. That's just how I sign

Maybe I misunderstood.. Maybe they meant your signature must match the name on the certificate, not your other signature. Because you are right, people change their names

Just an update: passport arrived today exactly 3 weeks from filing and naturalization cert arrived today as well. I got into the tracking system a week after filing happy with the process except for the fact that they folded my certificate!

Just an update:
Received my passport just 3 weeks from filing. Naturalization cert came back today too, but they folded it!

Not sure if I can help.. I went to grad school as a gc holder. I took the GRE test. We didn't have a common application to fill out though

Yes. I wore a dress

Just curious as to what other peoples experiences are.. I applied last Friday at the post office and the check still hasn't been cashed and I still have not been able to track it (that part I am not worried about because I know it's not reliable).

Just want to say I applied for a passport last Friday. Hoping it's a quick and smooth process!

Hi messybrownhair,
Was this the only update from the uscis website you received right after the interview?
Thanks!
Yes, 2 weeks after my interview I got that update
Applied for my passport yesterday at the post office- will share how that goes!

He can correct me if I'm wrong but yes he said it on the April filers group

Just did the book and cd.. No app

The problem is that he did not divulge it in the form and only mentioned it in the interview. I think that's why a decision was not made at your first interview and now you have a second one.. I suggest having a lawyer with you. Goodluck pinoyme!

I think the problem is that you did not disclose the crime on your form and only brought it up on your interview. The officer was probably blindsided by it since they often read through the form before the interview. This is why you need a lawyer. As well as because you applied only 3 weeks before your 10 use gc expired. A lawyer can help you defend your case and would know the legalities of the immigration process. Goodluck pinoyme

I was reading pen codes about my past crime it's not deportable but I do fall under cimt . Here's what it states .
Penal §550(a) Insurance fraud Yes AF if offense involves fraud where victim lost $10,000 or more; intent. or AF if forgery and 1-yr sentence imposed. Yes CMT because fraudulent No. See Note "Burglary, Theft, Fraud." If $10k loss, try to plead to grand theft with a sentence less than a year. See PC 529(3) to possibly avoid CMT. If forgery involved, avoid 1-yr sentence to avoid charge of AF as forgery.
I do not owe over 2K I did not serve jail time . My pen code was 550 (b) 3 .
I'm hoping for the best on my next interview.
Do you think I will re take the civic test and English and writing test ?
What can an immigration attorney do for me on my re interview ?
I would get a very good lawyer for sure!

Thanks for understanding the situation! My mom is not asking to be compensated but she is by no means a slave. She just wants to see and watch her grandkids, and yes she will be living with us and not contributing to bills or mortgage etc.
So even if she would live with us, she can file as a household of one, and she would do so as a permanent resident, am I correct? Thank you! I guess, we would call healthcare.gov and do this only when she is here and has her GC already right?
