  1. my Dominican husband got the TB skin test (no reaction) and the chest X-ray done. they gave him a copy of the chest X-ray to show at the POE if necessary...they didn't ask for it at the POE. maybe the chest X-ray is country specific? or maybe it's what doctor you choose?

  2. I can only speak from my experience last year. my husband and I were married in may 2010. he was not living in the united states yet when I filed our taxes in 2011. I solicited adviced from this board and from a tax professional. the conclusion for us was that we filed "married filing jointly". we had to get an itin number for him since he did not have a social security number yet. the hole process was somewhat complicated and we paid for a tax preparer to do everything. our tax refund took a few months to receive because none of the paperwork could be filed electronically, it all had to be sent by us postal mail. hope that helps!

  3. Some Embassies are "easy", some are more difficult than others. Yours is of the more difficult to interview at, but preparing your proof of relationship is crucial there. I HIGHLY recommend you search the forums for posts pertaining to the DR Embassy.

 great advice. DR specific forums will help. You have to go to the interview...some embassies do not require this but the DR is one that does (although they do not formally say this). Read interview reviews to get a better idea of the questions you will be asked and how to prepare.

Follow the guides when filling out paperwork and check, double check, and check again your paperwork before sending it out...even a minor mistake (like we did by sending the wrong sized photos!) can set you back weeks or months.

Lastly, GOOD LUCK on your journey :)

  4. hi there :) I read your post and what stuck out to me was that you won't be present for either of the two interviews. I am pretty sure that the DR requires the petitioner to be present at the interview (some countries are different but if you read the DR specific posts...that's what they say).

Sorry my response doesn't address your DNA issue specifically.

Good luck with your fiance and your daughter's petition!

  5. it's a nerve wracking thing to anticipate but rely on your preparation, organization, and the love between you both. be confident without being arrogant. smile and try to relax and be calm. get enough sleep. read others experiences with their interviews so you can get an idea of the questions they may ask. and finally...enjoy the experience that will bring you two together in the united states....take it all in and share with everyone your awesome interview when you can :) good luck!

  6. I agree....I have saved every little piece of paper since the beginning and I'm going to bring it all with me. I guard it with my life and have it tabbed already in chronological order of filing/receipt......soon I'll be printing all the pictures and getting those together. I'm excited....I think if they say YES i may just hug the interviewer...lol

I would suggest reading everyone's reviews of their interview experiences in the DR. Having everything organized is a plus...remember there is only a narrow slot between you and the interviewer. I had our evidence in a binder with plastic sheets that could be removed if necessary. I also put the photos in a small album that fit about 150 4" x 6" photos.

I wanted to hug our interviewer too but they are behind the glass counter! He did give us a big smile and said "have a good life together, you two" which I thought was really sweet.

Good luck. Don't stress. You two will do fine and your love will be here before you know it :)

  7. It is true that there is a HUGE difference in the wait time between peoples experiences :( That being said...we had the interview on a wednesday and thursday evening they called us to let us know it was ready for pick up at the DomEx office :)

We waited a little bit to travel to the USA together (due to his work obligations he couldn't leave right after the interview). It was a great experience to be able to travel back to our new home together and to NOT have to say goodbye at the airport!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good luck :)

  8. I had photos from every visit to the DR to see my husband (almost monthly for a year!). Including wedding photos we had ones from all over the city and with friends and family and trips to the beach resorts...some showed us kissing :)

Remember that at the interview the evidence you bring has to slide into a slot in the glass between you and the interviewer. I took about 75 pics to the interview in a small photo album and had all my other evidence plastic sleeves in a binder with organized tabs so they could be removed if necessary. Although at the interview he didn't ask to see one piece of evidence but I sure was glad we had it...just in case!
