Got a status update on 9/29/2016: Interview has been scheduled", got the letter in the mail on 10/03/2016, interview is on 11/03/2016. Can someone please update the table? Thanks.

So I just talked to the Tier 2 officer, according to her, the case is still pending (as expected), she submitted a request to send me an update about my case via email and told me that I will recieve an email by May, 10 2016, let's see what happens

Don't get overwhelmed. There are a lot of Muslims who recently passed this process without any problems and delay. My cousin (Ukrainian, not Muslim) had problem with her fingerprints all time - for green card and naturalization process. She had been waiting for over year. I know a Russian woman (not Muslim) who had been waiting for background check for 4 years. She had to hire a lawyer and file a 'Writ of Mandamus' (https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/mandamus) to make her case move.
I see there is a delay in some offices so just be patient and positive.
I know but it is hard to stay positive, although you're absolutely right. I never had a problem with finger printing or even with my last Green Card, as I mentioned earlier, I also have the TSA-Pre which requires intense FBI background check, not easy to get that if you're a Muslim, just this delay is driving me nuts, oh well, fingers crossed
-
I'm not Muslim.
I know you're not, I just wanted to recommend since it's interesting and I believe you already know a lot about immigration issues
-
No.
You should, it's quite scary though especially if you're a Muslim, it took this guy 14 years of struggle to get his citizenship just because he was a Muslim
-
Damn that's intense, did you happen to read the entire report for the second lawsuit?
-
Online status still stuck in on January we received your application.
Mine too, still says " we received your application blah blah blah" I have one of the most unique names, Charlotte office does not have a back log, it has to do something with country of birth or perhaps religion, can't think of anything else
-
Did you mean you filed in January 2015 ? People who filled in March / April 2015 and was stuck in background are slowly seeing interview letters.
Nah, sorry for the confusion, I filed on Jan 7, 2016
-
It's a case by case basis, but this can definitely happen. The Feb 2016 filers thread has a number of early filers who have not received their in-line notices because they are greater than a month out from their anniversaries.
Yes and I am one of them , I filed in January though had my FP on Feb 3 and still says "Received your application' thingy online. I guess waiting is the only option here.
-
You can call USCIS to find out what you can do now but I guess you should wait for interview. The IO will review your application during interview, you will be asked all 'yes/no' questions from N-400 form so you can explain that to the officer and he/she fix your mistake.
I called USCIS and they asked me to mail out a letter to UCIS (did not mention which location) saying that I've made a mistake on my N-400 and if they could correct it for me. Then I asked one of the lawyers about my situation and he suggested that I should type a letter and take it to the local USCIS office by making an InfoPass appointment and so I did on Friday. First, the receptionist told me that they can accept the letter and I will have to mail it in. But when I talked to the officer, she suggested that I should wait until I receive a notification/letter from USCIS asking about the mistake made on N-400, otherwise, just wait until my interview and mention it to the officer right away. So I guess I am going to do that, hopefully, this does not delay my application process which already is delayed.
-
I just reviewed my N-400 for any mistakes I might have made and found that I answered "NO" to question 35 when I should have said "YES". The questions asks, "Have you ever been placed in removal proceedings"? And yes, I was placed in removal proceedings in March 2010 for over staying on a F1 visa but later on, I married a US citizen who is still my wife and we have a 5 years old daughter together. Also, I received my permanent green card without any problems in December 2013.
How do I fix that mistake? Do I wait until the interview? Or Do I make an infopass and mention it to a USCIS officer?
-
Nobody can say for sure how it works. The 'name check' now is strange to me because it's 3rd check the criminal history record we have (previous ones were for 1st and 2nd green cards) so it should be faster now. Instead of that some applicants have to wait for some reasons.
If you were checked by FBI for your work in TSA, you might obtain a copy of your own FBI identification record - it's mentioned in the biometric appointment notice,
Yeah, my sentiments exactly, I mean I have been fingerprinted, 7 times in last 5 years, do they think that our finger prints change over time? Or do we get new fingers every year? My background for TSA Pre-Check is a different story, in case if you did not know, TSA-Pre lets you inside an airport with minimal security check. It's a good thing to have if you fly a lot, since it saves you time and hassle at the airport. My point is that if the FBI already did an intense background check on me which lets me board a plane with minimal security check (considering I am from Pakistan ), why cannot they just use the same background check, I guess this is just my frustration coming out But oh well, thanks your reply

So once again, here I am, filed my application on january 7th as everyone can see on the timeline table. Please notice that I was approximately 1 year 7 months late in my filing my application as this is a marriage based case and I received my first GC on August 15, 2011. I was fingerprinted on Feb 3, 2016 and still my status has not changed online. It is still stuck at "Received Application", now I know that USCIS can be totally unpredictable and no one here knows for sure how they'd handle my case but is it normal to receive an interview letter without a status update for "Inline for Interview"? I would like to mention here a friend of mine filed at the Charlotte office almost 18 days earlier than I did and his case status changed within 5 days, same is the case with another couple from Charlotte whom I came across on this website. Now, the ones who are familiar with TSA-Pre Check process, they would know that TSA also sends out finger prints to FBI for an intensive background and name check, mine came back with 2 and a half weeks, so I am wondering why this is so different especially when I have TSA-Pre Check. Any comments/help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -
Stuck at "received your application" as well despite having done my biometrics two weeks ago.
Your case is marriage based or work based? Also, are you filing 90 days early? I could have filed in May 2014 based on married to US citizen and having Green card for 3 yeas but I just delayed it, thought now, it should go faster considering I am already filing it late, I think I should just look for the interview letter in the mail, I doubt my online status would ever change.

Hi,
I just came across this thread, I filed my application on January 7, 2016, not sure if I update the status myself or a moderator of forum has to do it, well here it is:

A friend of mine with the same field office filed on December 15, 2015 and his online status just got updated to "interview scheduled" , is there anyone on this thread with the similar situation to mine?
-
Hi everyone,
I am really sorry that I could not post on this thread earlier. Well, my first interview for temporary GC went good, officer was nice, he did not even interview my wife, just me for about 15 minutes. After 2 years I filed for the 10 years GC (removal of conditions) and sent all the proofs I could along with the application. I received my permanent GC within 127 days, no RFE, no interview whatsoever. Finally I just applied for citizenship (N-400) about a month ago, hence the reason I am back on this forum looking at other people's timelines Please feel free to ask me anything, I would love to help everyone here

I think I was flying too high Just got a letter from USCIS saying my Biometrics are incomplete and I need to get them done again. I do not know what the heck is wrong with them. I got my Biometrics done in May 2010, did they expire? No clue
-
Thank you so much for coming back to share your story. I'm very happy for you that it worked out.
Out of curiosity, is your wife the same "race" as you? Don't take this the wrong way; it's just that the burden of proof seems to be higher if couples are of different races or religions. I'm curious if that is the case here.
Best of luck.
My wife is caucasian and I am from Pakistan originally. I understand your point of view

I still remember posting in these forums about a year ago; confused with a little hope of passing such a milestone. For those who aren't familiar with my situation, here's the link to my previous postings and discussions: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/270937-what-to-expect-while-in-removal-proceedings-help-needed/
My wife and I had our interview on 08/15/2011 at the local Minneapolis/St Paul office. Like anyone else, we were confused, worried and prepared as much as we could. We gathered all the evidence including pictures of our wedding, our daughter, my parents, her parents hence we had three scrapbooks full of photos proving our relationship that started almost 4 years ago. The copies of our leases, utility bills, birth certificates, wedding invitation, common club memberships, pay stubs, jointly filed taxes, employment letters, copies of passports and I-94, driving licenses were some of the documents we came up with. Well, we reached the USCIS office along with our 10 months old daughter about 30 minutes earlier and once again started to prepare for the expected/unexpected questions. After waiting in the lobby for around 25 minutes, an officer called my name. Guess what? the total time I spent in his office was less than 30 minutes, out of which he talked to me for barely 10 minutes and kept going through my file/documents for the rest of the time. The questions were simple for e.g. my full name, my DOB, my parents name, school that I attended in US and major and the common questions like if I had been involved in any illegal activities. At the end, he inquired about my translated birth certificate since he could not find one in my file. My attorney (that I got rid of in March 2011) was supposed to file the birth certificate with all the other documents but I guess he did not. The officer told me to furnish a copy of my translated birth certificate the same day and also asked me to fill out a new G-325A form. According to him if I fax him the required documents the same day, he would approve my case right away. I was amazed that he didn't even interview my wife at all who was waiting for her turn in the lobby. The reason was that since we had already been interviewed for I-130, there was no need for another interview. I faxed him the required documents and got an approval letter yesterday (08/17/2011)
I am not sure when I'll receieve my GC but I feel so relieved now. I think my interview couldn't be easier.
I would also like to thank everyone who supported and helped me here. Last question, any idea when would I receieve my GC?
-
Once again, thanks a lot everyone for being with me in difficult times I got a letter from USCIS day before yesterday that I have an interview date of I-485, so that sounds like a pretty good news. Now the interview is on August 15, 2011 and I am confident that it wouldn't be a problem for us since we are legally married and have a child as well. How much time do you think it's going to take until I receive my Green card? And yes one more thing, my EAD expires on Oct 25, 2011; should I apply for a new one or just wait on my GC?
-
I think things are looking up and up for you. Considering a year ago you were half way back to your home country. The immigration judge has thrown you a huge bone and USCIS is just trying to nitpick here. All you can do at this point is wait. You can renew your EAd as many times as needed until a final decision is made. I went through 2 EAds and my application was a simple one so hang in there. You've been through the toughest part already and survived. I'm assuming you must have a child by now since your fiance was pregnat last year. Congrats if you have a baby. You will be getting some good news soon. Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks a bunch dude for your helpful feedback. Yeah I am so relieved that I am done with the toughest part but really curious at the same time for the Green Card. Well, I guess I'll just wait. My baby girl was born on in October 2010 so yeah she's almost 8 months old now, thanks for the compliments As far as the EAD is concerned, do you think I should file it electronically or just do the regular paper based one? It expires on Oct 25 2011 I guess so I should apply by July 25 2011 right?
Once again, thanks for your help and support, I'll definitely keep you guys posted.
I would expect another biometrics appointment. Even if you don't need it to renew the EAD, you'll probably need it for the green card.
You have to wait as long as it takes, which could be days, weeks, months, or years. AOS applications submitted after the start of removal proceedings often take a long time. If I were you, I'd be prepared for this to potentially take a couple of years or more.
I have no idea where your case is currently being processed. If I had to take a wild guess it would be that your application is probably at the Fraud Detection Branch of USCIS. There may be an FDNS office in your local USCIS office. I really don't know.
Thanks Jim for your help and I'll just hang in here until I receive a good news and will definitely keep you posted

Thanks RICARDO4EVA2 and JimVaPhuong for your replies. As I mentioned above that Immigration judge suspended the removal proceedings on March 29, 2011 and since then I have not heard anything from USCIS. I am concerned about two things here; first of all, should I expect another appointment for fingerprinting and biometrics? Although I was fingerprinted in July 2010 for I-485. Secondly, how long do I have to wait until I get an interview call from USCIS? In order to track my case online, should I still use the same old receipt number for the original I-485 that was filed last year? And one last question, where do you think my case is being processed right now? In the local USCIS office in St Paul, MN or in the Texas Center?
I really appreciate your help people. Thanks

Alright I am posting after almost 10 months again. Here's the link to my previous post:
http://www.visajourn...41#entry4148941
And here's my current situation:
My I-130 was approved in January 2011 but USCIS did not terminate the removal proceedings since the I-485 filed with the Texas center was incomplete (without medical examination) so my lawyer refiled the I-485 along with medical and the approved I-130 with the IMMIGRATION JUDGE. According to my lawyer, the I-485 would get transferred over to a USCIS office at some point and I'll get my Green card pretty soon. Well, my removal proceedings were terminated on March 29, 2011 and since then I've not heard a single thing from the USCIS. I do not have any new receipts for the new I-485 or nothing of that sort that proves that my lawyer just re-filed a new I-485 application. I called the USCIS and discussed this matter with one of the customer reps and after few days I got a reply saying that they are still investigating my case (please remember that I provided them with the old receipt number for I-485 that I filed in May 2010 and was finger printed for that as well). Now I have no clue about the current status of my green card. My EAD is going to expire in Oct 2011 and I have no idea whom to contact since I fired my lawyer as well. According to my friends (including the people on this forum), he was not doing the right thing and that's what I thought too. Could you please help me out?
Thanks
Here's the timeline if it helps:
Got married : March 16 2010 (while in removal proceedings)
Filed I-130: March 17, 2010
Filed I-485 , I-765 and I-131 on May 25, 2010
I-765 was denied on June 30, 2010 (for not filing I-485 with the immigration judge)
Refiled I-765 with Missouri Center on July 18, 2010
Received EAD on October 22, 2010
I-130 interview at the local St Paul MN office on December 16, 2010
I-130 approved in January 2011
USCIS denied to grant the motion of terminating the removal proceedings only based on approved I-130 and further asked to re-file the I-485 with the immigration judge along with the medical examination
New I-485 filed with the Immigration Judge along with the medical examination in March 2011
Immigration Judge terminated the removal proceedings on March 29, 2011
FIRED MY LAWYER IN MAY 2011
And since then waiting on my AOS or Green card
Help please !!!!!!!
