  1. Xifeng had her visa interview yesterday in Guangzhou and passed with flying colors.

In fact, it seems she charmed the socks off of the consulate officer who interviewed her. He looked at some photos and asked a few questions, but didn't bother with the 10-pound stack of documentation she brought in with her. He wound up the interview telling her I'm a lucky man to have such a beautiful wife. One mistake we made was bringing her wedding photo album. It was too big to fit through the opening in the window, so she had to show it to him through the glass.

  2. We finally got our interview date in Guangzhou (December 22  ) 582 days after we filed the initial I-130 petition. We didn't have any problems with our filing or RFEs, so I'm wondering why it took more than twice as long for us to get our interview date as it seems to take most other couples. We filed electronically at NVC in March, 2011. My immigration lawyer claims the NVC electronic system is slow and buggy. Has anyone else had problems with electronic filing, or do I just have an inept lawyer?

  3. Just joining the throng. I filed the I-130 for my Chinese wife Xifeng on May 13 and we are waiting (im)patiently for our NOA2.

I'm helping time pass by studying Mandarin, and she's studying English. Our Skype conversations sound like classroom lectures sometimes.

It looks like it will be a long time before she gets scheduled for her interview.

I can empathize with people who are feeling helpless and overwhelmed by the opacity of the system.

It would be nice to have a human contact me and say "hang in there...we'll get to you soon!"
