Xifeng and I met online at AsianEuro.com in November, 2009 and fell in love almost immediately. Xifeng lives in Nanchang, China. She is 53 years old with three daughters and three grandchildren. She's a retired businesswoman who has been pursuing her love of performing traditional Chinese opera. I am 62, with a son and a daughter and three grandchildren. I am a musician and composer and work as Music Librarian at the San Francisco Ballet.
I traveled to Nanchang in March 2010 and we were married there. I applied for a K-3 (201b Permanent Resident) visa for Xifeng in May and we have been waiting for our application to be processed. I visited Xifeng in Nanchang again this June and spent three weeks getting to know her better and meeting her (very) extended family.
It's really hard to be so far apart and to wait patiently for our turn to come. We send lots of emails and talk on Skype regularly. She has very little English and has been studying (slowly) with a college student. I'm taking a conversational Mandarin course here at the City College. Xifeng gets discouraged sometimes and I have to reassure her that it will only be a few months before she can be here with me. I'm hoping she will be able to come to San Francisco by April.
