  1. Hello All,

I'm asking a question here on behalf of my brother who is applying for his wife. His USCIS was approved and we got welcome letter from NVC. Here's what we have done so far:

    • We submitted Choice of Agent DS-261 online & it says Completed
    • We have paid both of the fees online and they show Paid
    • We have submitted DS-230 form online last week and it says Completed

    Here what is pending:

    • Affidavit of Support Documents & Financial Evidence says N/A
    • Civil Documents says N/A

We have couple of questions now:

    1. How do we submit the Affidavit of Support and Financial Documents? Is that an online application which we submit or does it go through snail mail?
    2. My brother has been laid off from last 2 years. Can I submit an affidavit of support to support his wife? Which forms do I use?
    3. Are we going to receive any other letter from NVC or should we send the civil documents using the Cover letter which we got as part of welcome letter?
    4. Are all documents required, which are listed on Cover Sheet (i.e. Tax Transcripts, Tax Returns) or we can send either one of those?

Any help is much appreciated. We are already week behind since we submitted the DS-230 online last week and don't want to delay sending the papers any further.

    Thanks,

  2. My wife had her Citizenship interview 2 weeks ago. As part of her N-400 application, she requested a name change the but the interview officer said they could not make the name change at that particular district office.

Now my wife is attending her Naturalization oath ceremony next week and I'm wondering if there is anyway we can get her name changed on Citizenship certificate and her passport?

  3. Thanks all & Loto.. One headache is done and now second one starts regarding name change.

I called USCIS and they said wait for the welcome letter to arrive. If the name is incorrect on the welcome letter (which it will be because it is incorrect on visa), then call USCIS back and ask them to correct it.

I don't have to worry about correcting the name change on Visa right, since it is only valid for 6 months?

    Thanks,

  4. Well we told NVC to correct the name but they said it could cause more delays, so we left it as is. Wife told her interview officer about the mistake and they said they'll look into it but they didn't. Basically it shows FNU, Her full name. They have put FNU (first name unknonw) even when it is there on the passport.

So looks like her GC will also have the the word FNU, her full name. Anyway to change that before the green card is produced or change it after the GC is recieved. Also, what about the SSN Card?

  5. The processing time charts here are wonderful but i'm wondering if there are any processing time charts for people who dont get RFE's. When i look at processing time averages they seem to be a good guideline but if i understand correctly, the average times shoot up pretty high because of cases where there are RFE's that take more time.

I want to know how long realistically if there are no RFE's, for NVC processing. When i look on the charts for indonesia it is something like 182 days from noa2 to interview but that seems long when i read other information about NVC processing times from the wiki.

Am i missing something? is there an official timeline from NVC such as the 5month time frame from USCIS?

For some people it took 3 weeks for other between 6-8 weeks. All depends on how fast you can send the paperwork. See my time line for more info.

  6. Brings all originals and photocopies of all documents. If you have already submitted at NVC then you dont need to submit it again. But if you have not submitted PCC then you can submit it.Also you need to submit the envelope of medical exam result and courier fees of Rs.387 at VFS.

    Neal/Loto,

Can you guys confirm that medical report needs to be dropped off at VFS and not taken with you at the interview?

    Thanks,

  7. Hi All,

Just wondering if wife has to submit any documents at VFS? All the original documents were submitted to NVC. I'm going to send her two copies of everything (I-130, AOS, DS-230 + any copies of civil documents). So I was just wondering if she has to submit anything at VFS other than paying the fees?

I read it in some post that you have to submit your passport and Documents at VFS instead of taking them to interview even when you submitted everything at NVC. So just wondering if that is correct for New Delhi consulate.

    Thanks,
