  1. Approved and visa in hand, 2 days to receive package. No it will not be opened as I

will guard it with my life.......kkkkkkk!!

Thanks to all here and I bid you all the best in your visa quest.

All went smoothly at our interview.

Prepreparation with all documents on hand, whether needed or not

    is key.

The Consul Officer was friendly and professional and appeared

just as excited as we were when she approved our visa.......

Thanks a bunch Saylin for helping me ski through NVC.

    POE.......Charlotte, NC July 19, 2012.

  2. Hey guys! Thank you very much for taking time to answer some of my questions. I really don't know why they ask for a different background check for people that live in Rio de Janeiro, but the Certidão de Vida Privada is also provided by the Secretaria de Segurança Publica. So, better safe than sorry at the time of the interview and get that certificate...

How did it take you from the time you sent in all your documents to get an interview marked?

    Obrigada pela ajudinha!!!

    Maria,

I hope all goes well in your visa quest.

My wife was born and raised in Rio De Janeiro and we did not need the certification that you are inquiring about,

all that was needed was the State and Federal Certificates. If he has not lived in Rio for the past 5 years then

he will need them from all the other states wherein he lived for a period of less than 5 full years

Again, if you have any doubt email the Consul with your direct question and they WILL respond.

I feel you are expending a lot of energy and time about something you will not need, but do not take my word for

it.......email the Consul and you will have your answer. I hope this can aid in speeding up your process.

    I bid you the best.

  3. Maria,

Disregard the statements that you need to send or bring the DS-230 and DS-2001 if you are doing

a CR-1 immigrant visa. I cannot speak on a K-1, but for a CR-1 you send the forms to the NVC along with

a copy of your husband bio page from his passport and 2 passport style photos.

When we had our interview I did not need any documents as they had them all, but still bring them just in case

along with any other additional proof of an ongoing relationship.

The Consul officer did not even ask to see any pictures, although I had them just in case they were needed.

Again I bid you the best.

  4. They will accept online certificates. I was just approved on July 11th and I used them.

You must print the authentication page also.

I was unsure just as you so I sent an email to the Consulate and inquired of them and they replied

that they do accept them. I attached this email in my NVC DS-230 packet and was never asked about it.

If you are still uncertain do as I did, email the Consul and annex the email in your submissions.

    I wish you the best.

  5. First and foremost I will give Honor and Praises to Almighty Yahweh and His Son Yahshua Messiah!!!!!!!

I want to thank all here for the information and insight that was effective and efficient in saving us time, money,

(by not hiring a lawyer to do what we all can do ourselves by reading and searching for answers here and on the web)

    headaches and heartaches.

This experience has also taught me patience.

It all came down to the day of the interview, and the result was what I longed to hear.......

    Approved!!!!!!!

We are a community of people helping each other here, and the information is invaluable as the experiences learned

and shared are the best teachers in my opinion.

I am still here in Rio De Janiero with my wife and daughter that came with me. We are preparing to embark to our POE, Charlotte N.C.,

but we will enjoy this last week here as we await SedEx.

I will write a more detailed review in the Brazil Portal soon.

Overall I bid everyone the blessings they seek and the happiness they deserve as it all comes down to this......

it's been a long time coming!!!!!!!

To all my fellow members, keep your head up and be patient, but do not stop calling

NVC no matter how gloomy or rude they may seem.

  7. Hello to my fellow VJ members,

I need some help tracking my case file on the

    DHL website.

I tried the format shown in Ling Che's NVC shortcut with my numbers,

but it was to no avail. My response was

"No result found for your DHL query. Please try again. Try New Search ".

I tried my case number in their shipper's reference number parameter and still nothing.

Can someone give me the format they used to retreive their casefile's progress as my wife

wants to know when it reaches Rio.

Thanks to all and have a great weekend and I wish you all speedy movement this coming week.

  8. Hello to all my fellow VJ members.

Called NVC this evening after being told at about 11:30am that our

case would not be scheduled for interview until the third week of

June. "Call back around June 18th and check with us" I was told.

Well I paid that no attention and called back around 7:15pm and

received our interview date. July 18th 2012. Ha, go figure!!

My wife was elated and hit the floor when I gave her the good news.

Thanks to everyone here for all of the sound wisdom and knowledge that

has brought us to this point.

I wish everyone the best and will keep you all in my prayers.

Thanks VJ, could not have done it without you all!!

  9. Hello my fellow VJ members.

Thanks to all of you who have provided the insight to make this far

in this quest to reunite with our loved ones.

I can finally take a deep breath for the moment and relax.

All IV documents are in order and our case was completed today.

    Phewwww!!!!!!!

Thank you Saylin and all the others that have provided the information

needed to help me make it this far.

Many blessings to you all and may we all obtain our approvals that

    we are seeking.

    Case Complete.......

Now to begin the wait for the interview date.......

BTW.......Saylin, you were not far off from the CC date!!

    Rodrique.

  10. dwheels76 I do not know how NVC treats laminated documents but I do know for a fact that the embassies in Nigeria do not accept laminated documents as originals. So, I will advise you simply wait until you scale through NVC and the embassy before laminating. I know of a senior colleague - I am a lawyer by the way - who in ignorance laminated her marriage certificate and when she got to the embassy the certificate was rejected. She had to obtain a certified true copy (CTC) at the Marriage Registry where the marriage ceremony was contracted and the CTC is what she has been using ever since.

  11. Hello all my fellow members,

I hope all received good news today or had some sort of movement

    in their case.

    Today was great for us.

    I-864 AOS delivered today.

IV fee status now shows "Paid".

I timed it perfect when I sent out her IV package. It will arrive tomorrow,

but they are closed, so Monday they will receive it.

Perfect. Hoping to get a "Case Closed" next week.

    Next week.......? Think so guys.......?

Have a great weekend everyone and may next week bring interview dates, AOS fee invoices,

IV fee invoices, case numbers and arrivals. .

  12. Hello my fellow members.

Glad to see all the movement at the NVC these past couple of days.

Overall today was a good day for me as well.

05/16/2012: AOS Status "Paid". Mailed I-864 AOS packet via USPS Express Mail.

Expected delivery: May 18. DS-3032 accepted and added to case file.

05/17/2012: Received IV fee invoice. Paid IV fee. Status: "In Process". Printed Bar coded cover letter and mailed DS-230 Priority Mail, 2-3 delivery.

    Expected delivery: Saturday May 19.

This is great as they are closed and IV bill will show as "Paid" by Monday.

Ran out of lines also on my signature Sugarz and Saylin.

    How can I adjust that.......?

I tried the advice you gave Sugarz, but it did not work. I even lowered my font to size 1.

Anyhow, I am happy as I got much accomplished today. When I saw the IV fee invoice in my email this morning I ran to a computer to pay that fee.

Ecstatic to pay a fee.......there is one for the books.

Looks like I can possibly get a July date if all is well with my IV packet. Oh yeah, no staples included for ease of access, thanks guys.

    Have a good evening all.

  13. Hello all,

I hope all got good news from NVC today.

AOS fee invoiced today. Paid and currently "In Process".

Can you say happy to pay a bill.......a bill???????!!!!!!!???????

Yes, a bill. That somehow does not sound right, but it sure does

    feel good!!!!!!!

Waiting on DS-3032 email to be added to case file and IV fee to be

    invoiced.

Can you say elated to pay another bill.......?

This truly does not seem right, but it feels damn good. Sorta surreal

kinda like seeing the light from the Consulate lighthouse guiding our

ship in to safe waters of the USA!!!!!!!

  14. In addition I claimed my wife on my taxes since I send her support and she has

an ITIN. Therefore I filed well within my legal right and filed jointly and

the check refund is in both our names. So to avoid any confusion I added them

    for this benefit.

Was it not needed, maybe not, I am certain I will not get a checklist for it.......?

Yes, at least not for not attaching W-2's.

Have a good one and thanks Saylin.

  15. Why are you adding copies of W-2 forms? I don't see it as a required document if you are adding IRS Transcripts and making well above poverty guidelines.

How many months of pay stubs are you adding? And how many months pay stub NVC requires?

I just got my NOA2 and working on getting all my NVC documents ready.

    Hey Smart84,

I do earn well above the poverty guidelines, but I would rather submit them and not need them

than need them and not have submitted them, just a sheet of paper and I am thinking ahead of

the person that may not know they are not required when submitting transcripts, so he has them

in the packet in the event he interprets that I do.

I will send in every direct deposit stub from the beginning of the year up to now. How many

they require I do not know, ask Saylin our Guru here.

I will err on the side of caution and submit all that I have and rest assured I did my best.

    Ya feel me.......?

  16. Hello and hope everyone had a great weekend,

I put the finishing touches on my I-864 AOS package and want to get some

input as to whether or anyone feels I left anything out.

My cover letter reads as follows:

    My Name

    My SSN #

    My Address

    Subject: Affidavit of Support

    NVC Case # XXX-XXXX-XXX-XXX

    Benificiary Name: XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX

    Dear Sir/Madam;

Please find enclosed the I-864 Affidavit of Support and all required

documentation for my wife XXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXX, she is the beneficiary

of the immediate relative petition I-130 filed by me, a US Citizen at USCIS,

CSC. The above named is the intending immigrant to the United States.

    Enclosed:

    Bar coded cover sheet

Completed and signed form I-864 Affidavit of Support

    Letter of employment

    IRS Tax Transcripts for years 2011, 2010 & 2009

    Copies of W-2 forms

    Copies of current pay stubs

Please review the I-864 form and annexed documentation as soon as possible; if

any corrections are required or documents missing, please inform me and I will

submit the requested corrections and/or documentation.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

How does that fit the bill for the AOS packet.......?

    Anything missing or needs refining.......?

Please let me know as I am waiting to get this in the mail as soon as my AOS fee

    is invoiced.

Never thought I would look forward to paying a bill, but there is always a first

time for everything. I am going to enjoy paying this one and will do it with a

smile on my face....... "Um grande sorriso"

  17. Hello to all and glad to see such positive results coming out of NVC today.

Received my NVC, IIN and BIN case numbers at about 9:30 am.

Gave the operator my wife's and my email addresses and sent in the DS-3032 email.

    No auto response though.

Tried to pay the AOS, but the CEAC payment portal shows under "Payment Status" as "Not Invoiced".

When do you think I will be able to pay it?

It seems as if others were able to pay theirs as soon as they received the IINs.

Ready to express mail this package and get it under way.

On page 5 of the I-864 AOS form where if you are using assets to add to your income, if I am not using

this and it says "You are not required to complete this part. Skip to part 8", should I leave it blank

or put in N/A in the spaces?

I thought I read somewhere not to leave anything blank.

I wish you all the best and may all have a great weekend.

  18. About sending packages together or separately, it's completely up to you. Some people send them separately, some don't. The pro about sending them together is that you're only paying for postage once, and there's less chance one of the packages will get lost as they're together. The con is that you might be "wasting time" on sending out the AOS package pronto for NVC to review it. If nothing's wrong with the AOS package, then you wouldn't have wasted time as NVC still needs to review the IV package. But if a checklist is issued for something wrong or missing, then you'll have saved some time compared to sending the packages together. Hope you understand what I'm saying there.

If it were up to me, and I was in your position, I would send the AOS package asap once you can. But this is just my opinion on the subject matter.

For the transcripts, if you filed alone and don't need to show your own income, then W2s aren't needed. If you filed jointly and need to show your own income from the total income on the transcripts, then copies of the W2 are fine.

Thanks for the input Saylin, I will take your advice.

I am the sole source of income that is reported on my tax returns,

I just got my wife an ITIN and filed married. The refund came in both our names.

I have the check to show to the Consulate as well as the other financial evidences

I wrote of. You were silent about this.......should I submit to make sure the Consul

has this evidence to consider before the interview?

  19. Hello fellow VJ members,

I have a couple of questions that I want resolved in my mind.

Is it better to wait after emailing the DS-3032 and paying the AOS fee

for the IV bill to be generated and mail the I-864 AOS and DS-230 packets

together, or is it better to mail the I-864 AOS after paying that fee and

await the IV fee, pay it then send in the DS-230.......?

Separately, or together.......what is the advice on this...?

I hear they both have their pros and cons.

Also I asked the operator about sending in additional financial comingling

evidences for our file to show the Consulate we have a joint tax refund, checking and savings accounts.

She said it would not be a problem, what advice can be given about this.......?

I also have my tax transcripts for 2011, 2010 & 2009. Do I also need to send in my W-2s

with this, and can they be common copies of my W-2s.......?

I have everything else ready that is required for the I-864 packet.

What is anyone's advice that has completed this step thus far??

    Thanks all.

  20. Congratulations on making it to NVC!!

Thanks a lot Sheeshkabelle, glad to be here and this is what I needed; also are they still requiring the DS 2001 forms to be submitted before an interview is scheduled?

I read this on the DOS website; yet NVC is issuing the interview dates for Brazil.......what gives here ?

  21. Hello my fellow members,

I think I will join you all here now as NVC has finally received my case today.

16 days to receive it, now hoping for a speedy case number assignment as I have

all required documents in the launch pad awaiting the directive to launch.

I wish everyone the best and speedy interview dates.

I do hope everyone is prepared.

My wife can not get access to her prior vaccination records and would rather take them anew.

Brazil is our country portal, so may I ask if any members from Brazil here know exactly what

vaccines are required for adults over age 30 in the Rio De Janeiro Consulate??
