Hi there to all VJ members !
I just want to ask if i needed to file my taxes if I will go back to my home country (Philippines)? I am already a US Citizen and planning to study back home ( dual citizen - FIL-AM). I will not gonna work there , I will just continue my studies and hopefully to come back after I finish school. (3-4 years I guess)
Thank you so much and I hope somebody could answer this.

Hello to all VJ members ! I just want to ask, how long is the waiting period for a USC to petition her married brothers/sisters from the Philippines? or how long for the brothers/sisters to wait for their petition to be approved?
Thanks for the response.
God Bless....

I just want to add a bit more to the line of though for food stamps in general. I have a fully disabled room mate. Her food stamp income is about $30.00 a month for 1 person.
It might be in your interest to look for a local church who has food bank nights who can help you out. Also, your Husband can go to the local unemployment office and collect money from there to keep you from starving. It's absolutely time to cut back on the non-necessities, and buckle down while he looks for a new job!
Good luck and I hope this is resolved for you quickly!
Thanks Rob and Jill for the response too. Actually he is collecting UB (Unemployment Benefits) now and he is also applying for a job. I hope he could find a good one ! (more on Technical or Desk Top Support/ Telecommunications).
I hope and pray that God will gonna bless us.
Thanks for all VJ members who answered my inquiry. You are all very supportive to any members here who needs help for any type of questions or inquiry. I'm glad I'm a member of this informative site.
Thank you so much and May God Bless us all !!!

Hello? Good Day to all VJ members ! I just want to know, is it ok to apply for food stamps? My husband got laid off from his job and I got my conditional resident card Is collecting food stamps considered as a public charge?
(based on what it is written on Affidavit of Support I-864). Please give me a better understanding on this.
Thanks for the response.

Hi ! Greetings to everyone. I just want to know, when is the right time to file for citizenship? (based on marriage to USC). Are you going to wait for 3 years exactly or is it ok to file 90 days before 3 years of being a permanent resident?
Thank you so much for the response in advance.

Yes, you are eligible. go here - http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ , sign up, apply.
also suggest you get account at www.fastweb.com
then find the university's web site, study all for 'financial aid' and 'entrance requirements'
then finally, go (yes, leave the house) to the university you wish to attend,
sit down with financial aid office staff, have a conversation -
they can explain all to you.
Good Luck !
Thank you very much Darnell for your quick response. May God bless you and your family.

Hi ! Good day to everyone. I hope someone could help me regarding this. I'm sorry, I dont know where to post this. I was already approved with my AOS ( from K1 to conditional resident). Unfortunately, my husband got laid off from his job so he doesn't have the money to send me to school. I want to study (short term course only, just for 3 months). I just want to know, am I entitled for educational assistance from the government being a conditional resident? If I am entitled, where can I apply? ( their phone number and their office location).I'm living here in Chicago. Pls. enlighten me with this. I hope somebody could answer this, because I really want to study so I could find a job soon.
Your response shall be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much and God Bless...

Hello? A Blessed day to everyone. I'm a new member here. I just want to say that this site helps me a lot. It's really serve as a guide for me by
reading all the messages posted here especially when I started my entire AOS process. I am very thankful to all VJ members who shared informative
and helpful info's regarding AOS and different topics. My case was already approved (AOS) without an interview and no RFE. Thank GOD for
that ! I just sent my AOS package last April 19, 2010, it was transferred to CSC last May 21, received my EAD card last July 9 (not 19) and my green card last August 02. To all those who file for their AOS, just be patient like what I did and it will be approved soon, as long as you send the right forms and complete paperwoks needed for that. You have to be aware too that your case is within the current processing time listed. You can find it on uscis website (uscis.gov)
Thank you very much.
God Bless and Mabuhay ! Good luck to all AOS filers !
P.S. Anybody who can be my friends living here in Chicago? I want to gain some pinay friends here. Pls. PM me. I'm new here in our place
(Harwood Heights) Thanks......

Once you become a US citizen ( with a US Passport), you will go to Philippine Consulate and apply for a dual citizenship to be considered Filipino- American.
Try to visit Philippine Consulate website to know more about the details.
