Well folks I've got some bad news. After paying the AOS and IV fees, sending in all the required forms, and waiting for nearly a month... I get an email yesterday from the NVC saying they also need my wife's DS230 and all civil documents. HUH? The embassy website clearly states these documents will be collected on the day of the interview. So I call the NVC and they confirm that the documents are required before an interview date will be set.
Fortunately we had completed the DS 230 two weeks ago and it only needed to be printed out. So she sent a Fed Ex envelope with all the documents to me yesterday and when it arrives here I will include the email letter and cover sheet and send it to the NVC for another month of delays.
For those of you at the stage of AOS and IV fees do yourself a favor and triple check everything. Even call the NVC with the list of documents you have and see if they are going to work.
Good luck to all....
Can you please post a link to the page that says the Immigrant Visa application (DS-230) will be collected at the interview? I was never given that impression by the Embassy Website, the NVC website, nor anything posted on Visa Journey. All of the guides and the information on the NVC site state that it gets sent to NVC along with the coversheet you print online after your IV fee is marked as PAID. I'm just curious as to where this contradictory information is located at on the USEM website.
Thanks,
George

It is highly recommended that you DO NOT book your flight until you have your visa in your hand. You want to enter the US during the valid period of the visa, which is typically about 4 - 6 months from the issue date. Look at the expiration date on your visa once you receive it to be sure. If you wait for six months after you receive the visa, odds are that it will be expired.
George
My hunny bunch got me all confused about this visa thingy for 6 months validity period he implies that we wont be able to book flights after 6 months i said NO we can already book flights once we recieve our visa .... and also I would like to ask if i can book my flight even tho i have got my visa in my mailbox yet ?? since i know already it will come soon >?? i want to book my flight on august 5 will that be ok ??

Hello All,
I'm trying to figure out where my fiancee will actually be going thru customs at to enter the USA. She is coming from the Philippines this Sunday, and she will be traveling to Guam, then to Houston, TX, and from there on to Nashville, TN. I know that when I flew back from the Philippines I went thru customs both in Guam and in Houston, so I'm confused as to where she will be asked to give the brown envelope, because I'm just paranoid that once she gives it at one place, will they ask for it again, and how can she give it again if she doesn't have it? Just concerned, so since I have gotten soooo many helpful and informative responses here that have helped us reach this day of success, I'm reaching out for some help again!
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might share!
Sincerely,
Jason

I think you're a little confused. She'll POE and go though immigration in GUAM. She'll go through customs in Hawaii. The flight DOES NOT fly directly from Guam to Houston.

Where to? $600 dollars seems to good to be true. The lowest prices that I've seen are around $850 to various locations on the east coast and some folks here even doubted that I'd found those.
The Airlines websites tend to offer the best fares. You'll also find lower fares if you have flexible travel dates and don't have to leave on a particular day.
I tend to fly Continental myself because I live on Guam. Check out Philippines Airlines and Delta also. BTW, Guam is a great place for someone from Phils. to do their POE. A large number of the immigration/customs folks are of Filipino descent.

Hi everyone!
I just want to ask your ideas on this. I have been looking at all the documents that I have as preparation for my upcoming interview. I have just noticed that the copy of my husband's ITR doesn't have his signature on it. An accountant prepared his form 1040,it has the accountants information but no signature of the accountant too. Do you think I will have a problem with this document?
YES. It should be a SIGNED copy of the return that he submitted to the IRS. You may want to have him get TAX TRANSCRIPTS from the IRS and then scan and email them to you. He can call the IRS and have them faxed to him in a few minutes.

Just when I thought it was all over, I was hit with a whammy! I currently work in the middle east and my fiance is currently in Bulgaria. I was scheduled to be back in the US in Aug, and then she would arrive in Sept. A few days ago my employer told me that they may need me to relocate to Germany. This would have been great news last year before I sent the visa off as she doesnt need one to come to Germany. If I do move to Germany, how would the visa situation work? I was told that once she comes to the US, she cannot leave for a few months... is that true? Or if she never enters the US, how hard would it be to reapply for the visa 2-3 years from now?
Just a guess, but are you a government employee or a contractor? I believe there are special rules in place for government employees who are working overseas on orders. Otherwise just pull the visa and reapply in a few years when you're both ready to move to the US.

I filed I-129F petition for my fiance'e and got approval letter today. Now the case should be at NVC and they are going to ask me for different stuff. I was searching LingChe NVC ShortCut and going down the list; first one DS-3032. Where in the world am i supposed to get the barcode from? Should i print my own? should i wait for NVC to contact me?
One more thing; this DS-3032 has to be filled by beneficiary and i (Petitioner) do not have an attorney. Should she appoint me as an agent? Can she email me the scanned copy of the signed DS-3032? or it has to be snail mailed?
You may want to check in your regional forum. The LingChe shortcut does not apply for your visa type. Although your package will go to the NVC, it will not stay there for long, nor will you send any documents to NVC. It will almost immediately be forwarded to the consulate in the beneficiaries country.

Hello Fellow VJers especially to all my Kababayans who are already done with their interview!
My fiance made more than the required 125% poverty guideline and has a stable job. So now my question is, when you submitted your I-134 and supporting docs during your interview, did the manila embassy people still asked for TAX TRANSCRIPTS and PAY STUBS? I did some research on the net and found out that transcripts can be requested from IRS. Do we need to get these tax transcripts? We have everything except these.
To those who know the answer, please help. Thanks so much for your upcoming replies. :-)
The TAX TRANSCRIPTS are free, along with being quick and easy to get...so why not bring them just in case?

I just received an E-mail from NVC stating that they are just missing my affidative of support and my Lawyer had already sent it almost 2 months ago i am very upset... this waiting game is sooo frustrating i hope they didnt loose it...
If they did loose it, maybe you can just call and ask them to "tight" it.
Just print out the I-864 again and resign, and then copy the rest of the documents and send the package to them again along with the coversheet they sent you.. Be sure to send it with delivery confirmation (not a signature). They can easily have it in less than a week.

Hello everyone please i need your help and ideas about the requirements of K-1 visa. Im from Philippines, my question is do i need to have the original form of the following Form needed the Form 1040, w2 and Form I-134 of my fiance? And is the Form I-134 need to be notarized by an attorney? Is it not possible if my fiance just scan those form and i'll be the one to print it out here? Please please please help me. thanks
No the tax forms do not have to be originals ("originals" were sent to the IRS). The I-134 needs to have an original signature (he should mail/fedex/ups this to you. The I-134 does not need to be "notarized by an attorney".
Your finance and you may want to read the VJ guide for K-1 visas located here: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

Where is the application receipt number on the I-797C that I received? They said it starts with some stupid three letters but I dont have those on my receipt.
What to do?
It should be in the very first block that is labeled "receipt number". Take a look at this example...

I was informed by my wife this morning that our daughter who still is in the philippines lost her pasport on the way to the bank to pick up some money. I know she has to go to the local consulate after a month for a waiting period to see if it shows up. But I am confused on the fees of a lost passport application.
When my wife was there before she came to the U.S. she told me they cost around $35.00 per passport. But what I am seeing on the manila embassy site is it's around $105.00. Has the price gone up that much in the last two years?
Also besides having to bring a certified copy of a birth certificate, photos, what else does she have to bring? Does she have to file a avadavit for lost passport form and have it notorized by a local attorney also? It's hard to get this info out of my wife because of her english skills.
thanks,
martinbr
I thought this direct link may be helpful.

There seems to be some confusion here, so maybe you can clarify for us. Is this a US passport or a Philippines passport that needs to be replaced? US Passports cost $105 as you mentioned above. Philippines passport cost 950 pesos standard or 1250 pesos rush plus the fee for the police report and the loss passport fee. You should be able to find all of the applicable fees and make an appointment for a Philippines passport on the DFA website that someone else linked to elsewhere in this thread. Yes, she will need a notarized affidavit stating how the passport was lost/stolen. My wife lost her Philippines passport a few months back and that's what she had to do to get it replaced and this was in the Metro Manila area.

Hello, everyone!
It's been 10 days since our case was completed at NVC. We were informed that they will start scheduling for July interviews this second week of June (which will be this week). Is that really how it goes? Is there anyone out here, Philippines forum, who got their case completed at NVC and is/are still waiting for their interview date? I am just so impatient right now..
We were case complete on 27 May 2011. We're still waiting for our interview appointment letter/notification.

FOr the CFO, parents are expected if age requirements are met as if a philippine wedding. Please also note fiancee is not permitted in the building during this time. The fiancee can wait outside the building, but expect to be monitored by local authorities. (this is not only for your protection, but if the signal is given inside, the fiancee will be arrested.) And according to the accounts I have read, and people talked to recently going through the CFO, have ALL papers you will be using at the embassy with you. You do not know what documents they will wish to examine. Also, expect to have one on one time as well. I cannot say what or how they choose certain people to interview deeper then others. The CFO is inexpensive compared to other things, but the CFO is interested in protecting the Filipino citizens. The CFO approach is from the standpoint the "outsider may be a bad person". The CFO is not the approach of the embassy where is the relationship real, and genuine. The CFO is trying to talk you out of leaving the Philippines, the question they ask, are you absolutely sure you are ready to go live in another country? Are you absolutely sure your spouse will take care of you? How well do you know him? (there are rumors they do a background check on the foreign fiancee/spouse to see if they can find anything. )
Conspiracy theorist?

Hello everyone, My name is Akbar and I am from the State of Maryland. I have a wife that is located in Karachi. After the Osama Bin Laden thing, it is getting worse and worse, and I fear the worse. The Taliban and the wars are right where she lives. I was their for an entire month and just returned on the 24th of May.
I am going to be filing for a Spousal Visa. I am hearing a few things but people and the research I have done is saying to file a CR1 vs a K3.
I know that this is the following materials and documents I will need
1. Marriage Documents
2. Legal Divorce Certificate (I was married before)
3. Two passport style pictures from her and I
4. Pictures of our wedding
5. A Cover Letter
6. Copy of my passport and ticket stubs
7. Copy of her NIC and Passport
I am not sure what else I need and I can not find this CR1 form anywhere on the net. Can someone also tell me if I am able to put her name on my bank account and on our home that I bought this year? And how to register our marriage with the state? I am a bit lost for as I was planning to do a Fiance Visa but now I have to do a Spousal instead. Can someone please give me proper guidance on what to do and what is missing from the Visa Kit?
Thank you
Akbar,
Please refer to this link http://www.visajourn...nited_States%3F and it should answer all of your questions.

thank vj members!!!!

Congratulations on the petition approval!!!
Hubby? You've posted in the IR-1/CR-1 forum but your profile and timeline say you're applying for a K-1 fiancee visa. If you're not actually married yet you may want to refrain from referring to your fiance as your husband, especial prior to and during your K-1 fiance interview.

Title pretty much sums it up. Just paid my AOS Fee(online) and sent off the Choice of Agent too. NVC marks the fee as "Paid". So my question is; Do they send me the I-864 or do I just go ahead, do it myself and send it in?
Thanks in advance,
Gary
You haven't sent it in yet?
Your barcoded coversheet is available online where you paid the fee. Here's a link the the steps required for the NVC process and it details what goes into the AOS package.

Hi VJ,what is the best time to send in my DS230 with the police clearance certificate?
You send it the DS-230 and supporting documents after the IV fee is paid. THe IV fee is $404. This is unrelated to the $88 AoS (I-864) fee mentioned above.
-
Wait a minute. It took you 5 months to submit the AOS packet but you are pissed that they cannot give you the interview date 2 weeks after they finished processing it?

You're making too big a deal of it, relax. You didn't have an adjustment of status interview, she did. You're only there to show your support.
