  1. Bank statements, pay stubs, tax returns and all the supporting documentation for the affidavit of support, NOA2 or a copy, your passport just in case the consul wants to see it, evidence of your relationship............ I might be missing some other things that the petitioner should bring, but I cant remember anything else. Let's see what other VJers have to say.

    Good Luck! (F)

  2. It is always good to provide as much evidence as you can't. And the affidavit of support is a very important part of the process, so prepare it carefully and provide the required supporting documentation. Also, a letter from the bank stating information about your account (for how long has it been opened, how much has been deposit, etc) will be helpful.

  3. HEY! Don't worry guys! It's been usual lately to receive NOA after 30 days! I know it's not easy and worrying is just normal, but don't freak out! USCIS will get to your packet and you'll hear something from them very soon!

    Good luck! (F)

ETA: I know in situations like this we get a lot of "Don't worry" and "Hang in there", but really that's what's going on at USCIS service centers. Many, many filers (esp. March and April) that I know have waited 30 days or more to get the text and email notification. So, in a few days you should be receiving a notice and if you don't, then you can always call USCIS and ask about your petition.

    Good luck again!

  4. That sounds a little weird. Try calling NVC instead of the Embassy, it is kind of useless. If your packet is already in SDO, it means you have a case number assigned already. The visa specialist at NVC will tell you your case number and maybe the interview date if you have one. If you don't, you can check the list of scheduled appointments when they post a new one.

There's no packet 3 in DR, they send packet 4 with all instructions and forms. But some people never get it (we didnt). So call NVC and find out what your case number is and start preparing!

    Im

I'm sending you a pm with some more info!

  5. Not necessarily. My case was transfered last week and I haven't had my biometrics yet.

Oh! i did not know that! lol :bonk:

Walking in definitely sped up my process. My original appointment was for 5/13. I walked in on 5/2, received my EAD+AP combo card on 5/14. Sadly enough, the woman who took my biometrics told me I was hurting my application by coming in early. I didn't believe her then, and now I have reason to not believe her now.

    That's awesome!

Anyway, I don't know why but I'm really excited about it!!

Wishing us all Good luck and Hoping we get our approvals very soon! (F)

  6. If you apply in person (which you must do for an original SSN application if age 12 or older) You DO NOT I repeat DO NOT need the SS-5. They will enter everything into the computer based on the evidence provided and the answers to the questions they ask. They will print out the info entered for you to review. You don't even need to sign anything.

RM 10205.175 Applicant’s Electronic Signature for an Application for an SSN Card Processed in SSNAP:

    https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110205175

Hmmmm. true that you dont even need to sign a form or the receipt. But the first thing they ask is if you completed the form. Maybe that's ow it works for your local SSA office, but I completed the form and they asked for it. Same when I went to have my name changed on the card.

  7. So maybe doing a walk-in for biometrics slightly speeds up processing of your case. Because my Biometrics app was for today, but since I already had my fingerprints and photo taken, they can work on my application. Case in point, they transfered my case!. I'd had to wait another week or two for it to be transfered if I had my biometrics done today.

It's not much of a difference, but in this process every day counts!!!!

  8. Yea, some NOAs say that but your case was really sent to NVC and THEY will forward it to RIO. Don't worry, just call the visa specialist to get your case number. It was probably sent to your consulate already.

Oh! and try calling several times if you don't get an answer. Sometimes they tell you different things, so keep calling until you are sure you have the information you wanted.

Good luck! Things speed up now!

  9. Please read the AOS guide for K-1 holders. All steps you need to follow are there.

    1) You only file I-485 (and EAD And AP if you want to). No I-130.

    2) The requirement is to get married within 90 after you enter USA. If you want to do it on the 88th day, it is your choice!

    3)See #1.

    4) No as soon as, but the beneficiary can apply for a SS#. Just wait at least 10 tens after POE so the file is in the system.

Read the guide and there will no problem! :)

    Good luck! (F)

  10. Well, Harpa pretty much answered your questions! But read the AOS guide for K-1 holders step by step. You'll find everything you need to know there. Just follow it step by step and Im sure you won't have a problem.

Also, you can check this guide. It is very detailed:

    http://mysliceofamericanpie.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/my-adjustment-of-status-aos-guide/

And you may want to check this thread about the affidavit of support yu will need to file now:

    Good luck! (F)

  11. All you need to do is follow the guide step by step and you wont miss anything. Just follow it step by step:

    VJ guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

And here's a guide a fellow VJ member made. She used VJ as her source:

    http://mysliceofamericanpie.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/my-adjustment-of-status-aos-guide/

If you read them and follow them carefully, you will have no problem submitting your packet.

    Good luck! :)

ETA: Also read the instructions on all USCIS forms.

  12. Is it always good to be well-prepared. For K-1, the affidavit of support that is normally used is the I-134, but you may want to prepare both forms just in case they request it.

Also, bring enough evidence and organized everything for easy access. The interview is super fast, it all happens in 5 min or less once you're in front of a

CO. You don't have to go to the extremes about printing pictures or skype records, but if they start giving you a hard time you'll be happy to have solid evidence to show.

We were not asked for more evidence (CO only said if we had pictures we wanted to show) or the affidavit. BUT every case is DIFFERENT and every CO is also different. Some are very nice and even joke about the interview, others simply don't. I really think if you have a strong relationship (that bears almost 3,000 miles away from each other)and do things the right way, it just shows and everything goes well at the end.

Wish you the best of luck!! :)

  13. The SDO consulate mails packet 4 to inform you of an interview and to give all the instructions you need. They'll probably post the interview dates for May by the end of this month, so keep checking. You might be surprised!!

You can also find the instructions and the forms the beneficiary will need on their page. It almost the same as the packet they will send.

    http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html

Again, keep checking the list of scheduled interviews and start preparing in the meantime. Good luck! :)
