  1. I don't think it is considered a different name. I think "other names used" in a form refers to other names you use, for some reason, in your documents. For example, my passport has my two names and two last names but my marriage license only has one name and my new last name, so all the document that I got after getting married will have only my new name (no second name or second last name). Therefore, in my application, under other names used, I wrote my name exactly as it was in all of my previous documents.

I hope you understand this, it sounds complicated now that I read it.

  2. Hey! Just wanted to say Congrats! to all of us who have already received EAD, AP or GC! Feels good to be done at least for a while. We are FREE!! Now let's really start our lives in USA =)

And for other April filers still waiting, you guys are sooo close!! We have all been so lucky to be approved in 2 months or less. And our timelines estimates turned out to be pretty accurate. So Im sure in the next week everyone else will receive their approvals.

    Congrats to all!!!

  3. Yes you can use the Website but not the same case number. Wait for your email notification or NOA in the mail to get your case #s, it will one for each application. If you created an account to check for updates, simply add the new case numbers to your portfolio and track the advance. Be patient if you haven't received a notification, it's taking a little more than usual these days.

  4. thats the problem. SDO is almost 3 hours away for my fiancee so she has to

    1. get the package a week before

    2. do the medical

    3. return for the result

    4. go to the interview

going 4 times in a week to SDO will be a pain in the ####. besides there is also the police certificate, doesn't she needs packets 4 to get that report?

Yep. That's exactly what I did and what everyone that doesn't live in Santo Domingo does, it's not that complicated after all. Request the duplicate, she'll pick it up in the afternoon because they don't give duplicates in the morning and she will have to go to Consultorios de Visa next day in the morning (they take you in until a certain time) and she'll pick up the results when they her to do so.

For the police certificate she only has to pay and fee a pick it up. She doesn't need the packet or instructions to get that.

  5. I don't think they would deny it if you have everything else and your mother's affidavit is complete too. My husband only had two years of tax transcripts but had a lot of support documentation for his and his father's affidavits. Sometimes they don't ask for the affidavit but you can't rely on that cause they might just ask for it, so prepare everything very carefully and have as much evidence as possible.

  6. It can make your case only more complicated if you get married in DR while you still have something pending with USCIS. I can understand your frustration, but like gigi said do you really want to take the risk of waiting even longer to come to the US? I think it will just bring you guys more obstacles to overcome.

Try to put that anger and frustration behind so you and your fiance can come up with a realistic solution to this.

We wish the best of luck and hope you can solve this soon.

  7. We said we were going to marry as soon as possible after coming to USA, maybe two weeks or something like that. Then the CO asked "what about your family? will they travel for the ceremony?" So we told him that we were planning on having a legal wedding in USA and then going back to DR in a few months for a religious wedding. He didn't seem to have a problem with that.

ETA: At POE they asked if we knew when we were going to get married and we said in about two weeks. The officer said "ok, you have to do it before June -----".

  8. AP in the consulate can take months but if they say you are not in AP (I do not understand  ) then maybe they're doing some kind of additional review and it won't take that long to get your visa? IDK, it is a random "process" and it makes no sense at all. But the CO said you were approved, so keep calling, keep asking for explanations and updates. Some people end up paying for THEIR mistakes because they sit and wait around. Call, complaint, talk!!!

    And good luck!
