Hello all,

I have my oath ceremony on March 10th in DC.

But I had a business travel planned for the 20th of March.

I have read I need a US passport to leave and come back in the US. How can I be sure I will have my passport on time?

Should I postpone my interview? the letter says to send back the letter explaining why. Is that a good enough reason?

is there a number we can call to ask these questions?

I am confused about what I should be doing: I read people had their passport in 1, 5, 8, 14 days, 1 month.

got a RFE, they want to see more statement of bank during the period of the marriage. I only sent one statement.

did my bio on 2/21, I passed lol

just received my USCIS letter for the bio appointment, it is schedule for 2/21.

Received my noa letter with the 01/23/2013 date on it

USCIS cashed my check...

j'etais alle chez le docteur slattery et ca s'etait passe normalement. c'est bien de tout verifie ce que qqun fait par precaution, relire les documents, on n'est jamais a l'abri d'une petite erreur, on est que des humains.

Si vous commencez deja a angoisser pour ca, c'est pas fini, la route vers la greencard est encore longue!

Bon c'est pas tout mais j'ai une nouvelle a annoncer!!

Finalement je ne finirai pas caissier chez Walmart car j'ai eu l'appel magique Vendredi suite a une selection que j'ai passe pour United Airline!

Moi le franchouillard je viens d'etre embauche comme pilote de ligne chez United!!

comme ca si on prend la ligne on demandera a visiter la cabine ahaha

pour ma part j;avais pris un billet aller retour et je n'ai pas eu de probleme la douane n'a rien demande et airfrance s'en fichait que je les appelle pour les prevenir que j;annulais, ils m'ont dit "d'accord" alors que j'avais pas donne mon nom ou mon numero de vol lol.

Si votre conjoint a dans sa famille un militaire ou ancien militaire, jetez vous sur cette assurance qui est genre 30% ou 40% moins chère que les autres.

@ Bruno: merci, je suis sur que tu vas trouver vite aussi, en ce moment ca recrute bcp dans l'aeronautique. A San Diego tu devrais postuler a Goodrich. Jai travaille a Goodrich en France, si j'habitais a San Diego j'aurai essaye la bas. J'ai essaye de convaincre ma femme de demenager sous le soleil mais jy suis pas arrive! plus tard peut etre!

@ S&AA: alors dans l'IT je connais pas trop. le mieux c'est de mettre son cv sur monster ensuite on t'appelle. si on ne connait pas trop les boites qui embauchent il faut trouver les sous traitants, je ne sais pas si ils font de l'IT (surement) mais tu peux regarder Triumph engineering, CTS international, American Contract Group, TSA. Je crois que dans le maryland il y a pas mal de software engineer job.

$170 pour toi tout seul?! Ca fait cher quand meme pour une petite voiture, surtout sans l'assurance collision. Apres tout depend du quartier dans lequel tu habites, et si tu la gares sur un parking ou dans la rue...

A titre d'exemple on paie $75/mois (tout-risque) pour notre Honda Fit Sport d'occaz (2008), si on en avait acheter une neuve c'etait $95. On est tous les 2 sur le contrat d'assurance, et je me souviens qu'elle m'a demander nos ages.

Ah mais attends Ben, tu habites dans le MD ou DC non?! Les assurances la-bas sont reputees pour etre 3 fois plus elever qu'en Virginie, donc ca s'explique...

Yep jai trouve un boulot, dans l'aeronautique. Je sais pas si ca peut aider certains dans leur recherche mon histoire car j'etais en contact avec cette entreprise lorsque je travaillais en France. En gros il me fallait la green card pour qu'ils m'embauchent, chose recue il y a 2 semaines. Je commence lundi

si vous cherchez des idees pour des jobs dans l'aero, je peux peut etre aider.

c'est pour ca que j'ai achete la voiture. je vais conduire 80 miles par jour. ca me ferait 20000 miles par an.

je vais prendre le train pour reduire. les compagnies assurances chargent plus si tu fais plus de kilometres. jai dit que je ferai que 7000 miles et je changerai au cours de l'annee.

je paye plus car j'ai moins de 24ans, dans 3 mois je paierai un petit peu moins j'aurai 25 ans).

Sabrina, je vis a Washington DC, peut etre c'est pour ca que je paye bcp.

si je prend une assurance pour mon appartement, j'aurai 10% sur mon assurance auto. au final ca revient moins cher de prendre deux assurances (j'economise qques 5 dollars environ lol).

apparement allstate prend en compte ton historique de conducteur de ton pays d'origine. Donc avant la fin des 6 mois d'assurance je vais appeler pour essayer de trouver une ou je paierai moins cher.

Tu es chez quelle compagnie? tu es assurer avec ton mari je suppose, peut etre que tous les deux beneficiaient d'un tarif moins cher car il a bcp d'annee de conduite ici?

hehe jai failli acheter la honda fit mais celles qui etaient disponibles en concessionaire etaient trop cheres.

je viens d'acheter une voiture, une chevrolet aveo sedan, d'occaz. J'ai pris l'assurance a la va-vite car j;en avais besoin pour l'enregistrer au dmv avant de commencer mon job. J'ai pris state farm.

Et vous, c'etait quoi votre premiere voiture???

est-ce que vous avez ete traites comme des nouveaux conducteurs sans experience ou vous avez pu valorise vos annees en france?

Geico et state farm ne le font pas.

au final c'est cher ici l'assurance, je paye 170 par mois et j;ai pas pris l'assurance collision. qd je la prendrais ca me coutera dans les 250.

I just got a text and email saying my interview is on May 13 th!!! I'm so happy!!

I was going to call USCIS about my EAD today but I guess it doesn't matter at this point. If

it's coming, it's coming, If it's lost and I would have to re submit it all that would take so

long no point even doing that.

After the interview how long does it usually take to get the green card? And if they

stamp my passport, could I start working that day?

to receive the green card after the interview, it depends if you are approved right away or if they request some stuff from you. check the processing time section for AOS, if you are approved, it should be less than 30 days, I suppose one or two weeks.

With the stamp, I dont know if you can work.

I just reveived a e-mail that they order the card production for the I-485 application, such a great feeling! I am so happy there was no RFE for a stupid lost medical or something.

I want it in hand because I know in life you never know...

I of course wish you all good luck, it looks like everything goes well for feb filers.

Okay. Now I'm a little confused. We were transferred to CSC on the 11th, and then touched again on the 22nd. Now it says online that "the I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office" -- Now I'm wondering if it was transferred back here to Iowa? Anyone else that's been transferred, can you verify? I'm not worried if we have to have an interview... but it would have been nice to not have one...

no it's normal, you received first a notice that it is sent to CSC, then the text you quoted is the one you receive when CSC is working on it. So it is not transferred back. If you receive third one, then it will be a transfer.
