  1. I can't help but freak!! I'm so nervous! So glad to have my husband there with me, but still, what if he gets my birthday wrong (which has happened before lol) or can't answer another question being asked. I am the applicant, so they should be more interested in me, but what if I forget my husbands birthday or get something wrong????? I'm so worried that something goes wrong and I don't know why I'm worried lol we love each other, but I also know we're both stressed out at the moment and hope we don't go blank at the interview!! Imagine that!!

What did you guys do to calm yourselves down?? And any other advice is very welcome as well!!

  2. Thanks Be83, you're very kind!

I believe it's very likely that they'll send us an RFE just because we'll apply just over a month after our wedding (we got married last month). So they may want to see additional evidence.

On the other hand, we've been living together, sharing the same apartment in London for over two years now, and that's good for us. But that's only demonstrated on the I-130 and G-325A forms (same address for both - same dates), because the London Embassy strictly specifies that no additional documents should be sent in the first instance that are not on the checklist. But we can show proof of us living together since 2008 if we are asked to

I don't think it's very likely. Could be, doesn't have to, though. We filed in person and I am pretty sure they already "took a look". I could be wrong, but why wouldn't they since the couple is actually there to hand in their papers...but we already gathered some stuff (bank statements etc.) and I also got some pics developed from when we started dating, over vacation to our wedding in case they want to see something at the interview. Unfortunately we have never been big in taking pictures lol

We couldn't officially live together before we were married because the military wouldn't allow it, but as soon as we got married we moved together and that's stated on the forms as well. :)

I'm waiting for a letter now everyday (considering our RFE everything should be good to go now and hopefully they don't decide to sent us another one...I doubt it, they could have stated everything in one notice.) Sent an email yesterday asking if everything got there safe and sound, but no reply yet.

Good luck to our papers being processed quick quick quick!!!

    I'm getting so antsy!!!

  3. Thanks so much Be83!! Best of luck to you!!

Wow, 87 days is more than 12 weeks - that IS a long time and I'd be thrilled if they gave us the same deadline. I've heard that most RFEs typically allow 12 weeks for a response, which is plenty, but then again I'm pretty sure I've read elsewhere that London allows just 60 days and I'm looking for London DCFers to tell me if that's true. I hope I'm wrong and they go with the general 12-week trend!

All the best to you guys, hope your adventure finishes soon with a positive outcome!!!

Thanks so much for your wishes!!

I wish you no RFEs!!! Again, just double check everything 3 times and I'm sure when you get back from your trip your mailbox won't have a RFE waiting for you! ;)

  4. Hi Christi85!

We didn't file in London, but procedures should be about the same everywher...We have received a RFE on July 10th. Fortunately (if you can use that word in relation to a RFE) it wasn't a big deal for us (we forgot to give them a copy of my husbands orders in order so he can do DFC for me) and I could send it back the same day. As we DCFers cannot check on our status online, I sent them an email today asking if they received our reply and I now hope it doesnt have a negative outcome on further processing...shouldn't be an issue though, I just want to make sure they received everything they asked for. :)

as for the dead line...our said we have to reply within 87 days...so lots of time!! I wouldn't worry if I were you! Make sure you give them all papers they need and your fine. we got lost in our paper chaos and here we are now waiting waiting waiting :( 7 weeks left and my hubby is PCSing and I'm trying to keep a positive attitude that i'm able to go with him right away!!! Wish us luck!

Go through all your papers again, check the embasy site on what they need from you, check papers one more time, make sure everything us filled out and signed where it should be signed and I'm sure you're good to go! Wish you lots of luck on your journey!!!

  5. Oh yeah...If I were you I would look through the instructions for filling out I-130 again. I only gave you my opinions and don't want you to have any mistakes in it because you relied to what I said. ;) No offense, I just don't want to take this responsibility since I am not working for those authorities...I am just a married person like you doing the same process that you are starting now! ;)

  6. * Part B, item 2 - Address.

The townhouse does not have an apartment number. What should I do? Put "N/A" there? Put "NONE"? Leave empty?

    we put N/A

    * Part B, item 3 - Place of Birth.

When I was born, the country was the USSR. Now it's the Russian Federation, or Russia. The birth certificate does not show the country of birth as it was not in the document at the time. So which country I should put in there? I would think that "Russia" would be fine. Any ideas?

maybe put "USSR (now Russia)"??? I don't know though, but I'm sure they figure it out

    * Part B, item 10 - Alien Registration Number.

I am a naturalized US Citizen. I used to have this number, but I suppose that now I need to put a "N/A" in this field. Is that correct?

I don't know. I'd suppose you put N/A since you're no more an "alien" ;)

    * Part B, item 14 - If you are a lawful permanent resident alien, complete the following

I am not as I am a US Citizen. Should I fill the field with "N/A" or leave it blank?

I would put N/A or none whatever fits better anywhere where you can't put a concrete answer

    * Part C, item 9, 10 - Spouse's Social Security and Alien Registration Numbers.

She's never been to the US and never had these numbers. I think I should put "NONE" here. Putting "N/A" would not be quite correct as these numbers can and will be applicable to her in future. Any insights?

I think both are fine. Can't remember what we put for me, but I'd go for N/A since as of right now these numbers are not applicable

    * Part C, item 14 - If your relative is currently in the U.S., complete the following

My spouse is not in the US. Should I put a "N/A" there? Should I put it in ALL fields, like "He or she arrived as a", "Date Arrived", "Date authorized stay expired"? Or should I just leave the fields blank?

I think we put N/A everywhere, leaving something blank seems like you over read or so

    * Part C, item 16 - Has your relative ever been under immigration proceedings?

No, there was no immigration proceedings of any kind. But should I leave the "Where" and "When" fields blank, or fill them with "N/A"?

again, there's place to put something, if there is nothing to put, put N/A I would say ;)

    * Part C, item 19 - Your relative's address abroad.

Provided that my spouse stays and lives abroad, is this the same as Part C, item 2?

I don't remember Part C, item 2 exactly...can't be wrong to put your spouses address I guess

    * Part C, item 22 - Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status.

My spouse is abroad and will go through the embassy. Should I leave all four fields blank, or fill the out with "N/A"?

put N/A, I think that's where we had to do corrections in the embassy...next to it it asks something like if your relative is abroad such and such, right? there you should put the city of where the embassy is where she will apply

    * Part D, item 2 - Have you ever before filed a petition for this or any other alien?

In my case the answer is "No". But should I leave the following field blank, or put a "N/A" there?

if its asking for who and when i think it can be wrong to put N/A since it is "N/A" ;)

  7. haha you're good girl! ;)

We did DCF received RFE Saturday (a really silly one, duh, but oh well), RFE sent back Saturday, delivered to them on Monday, no idea about anything yet, they have my interview-ready-list for almost 2 months now...Stalking the mailbox and hoping for super good news now every day

  8. Im quite surprise! I thought it would take much longer to receive the NOA2 after the NOA1 as I had read on here. I have receive both within a month. VSC is moving right along! Only wish the process could be so smooth in Ghana! Anyhoo, I happy that the first part is moving along smoothly. :-)

Congrats!!! I wish I already knew my appointment date (wishing for as soon as possible..)

  9. Hey. We filed I-130 May 19th....Saturday we received an RFE, they needed a copy of my hubbies military ID card and his travel orders to Germany (gave them the ID card copy, totally forgot about the orders, nobody asked either :( )

German Postal Service delivered the letter this Monday....Husband is PCSing beginning of September and I'm totally getting antsy here...wish us luck that we will receive an interview appointment letter very very very soon and get approved, so we can leave at the same time...It will get super complicated for me to stay somewhere and such once he left :(

Other than that all I can say about DCF so far is the people at the embasssy (FRA) seem really nice and competent, even received a reply email asking about our case status within 1 hour.

All they have to do now is to make things work out for us in time and I won't have any complaints! :)

  10. Umm... I thought I just posted something, but it's gone now, so here we go again...

I don't know about your first question, but the affidavit of support is filed by the petitioner only, to make sure he/she can take care of you financially...

Can't believe how fast you're already getting some sort of notice from them. We filed mid May and received ours Saturday...they received our reply today, so I hope everything is going really fast now. We're pcsing in September and I want to leave together with my husband so bad. He's been gone so much this year already :( It's just not the same when he is not home!!!

  11. Well, since we're only engaged my fiancee did sent the I-129F etc. to the CSC and they approved that. Then the whole kladeradatsch was sent to Frankfurt and now they contacted me.

But good advice to call the doc, will do that :)

What's an RFE? September doesn't sound too far, would accept that any time ;)

RFE = Request of Evidence. Could be anything from missing documents to evidence of a bona fide marriage or those passport pictures. My husband is in the military and stationed here. If you want to file in person in Frankfurt you have to have an Aufenthaltserlaubnis and therefore they needed a copy of his military ID card and his travel orders to Germany. Said and done, made the copies, sent it yesterday and the letter is already in Wiesbaden Logistikzentrum (gotta love Einschreiben and Briefstatus haha), so I hope they get it tomorrow and will check in our file again as soon as possible. To me it doesn't sound like a huge problem and the only reason why they haven't approved it yet, so hopefully that's the last thing they wanted to finally make the approval and then send out my interview invitation am besten morgen lol (wenn du direct filing machst, musste die checklist faxen, hab ich direkt nen tag nach filing gemacht, müssten sie also haben um mir dann endlich den Termin zu schicken... ich hoffe so, dass alles zeitlich noch klappt!!

Let me know what the doc in Berlin says. I'm curious how different docs handle the procedure!

  12. Thanks Be for your reply, got the case number with the first letter, so without even having sent anything to Frankfurt. As far as I know Frankfurt is the only consulate dealing with K1 visas.

Think I'll get my medical here in Berlin (since I live close to it), but very good to know that it's about 2 weeks from sending the checklist in to the interview.

Good luck with your further steps

Ah, didn't know about the consulate forums, thought it was general. Thank you for moving the topic :)

    Cheers,

    Lukas

Without even having sent anything? If you have a case number you must have sent the I-130 and the other forms and such that they wanted, right?! Frankfurt is the only doc office that welcomes walk-ins, so you might want to call Berlin and ask for information about getting an appointment, what vaccinations you need (called Frankfurt 3 times to make sure and am still not sure lol), if you can get the medical done at any time of the process or not, how much cash you have to bring and how many pictures and what else (Impfausweis for example)

And it doesn't necessarily have to be 2 weeks from getting the invitation to the interview. I-130 has to be approved, then within about 2 weeks they usually send out your invitation, that means your interview doesn't have be 2 weeks after petition approval. What they do try is to schedule the interviews along the date you gave them of your preferred departure date.

And thanks for keeping your fingers crossed, my hubby is leaving in September and we just got an RFE :(

  13. Hey folks,

I (german) got the first letter from the consulate today and want to start preparing things. Now I am still in the process of getting all my vaccinations for the AOS, so I wanted to have them done before my medical. But I also read that I can only make an appointment for my medical after I complete the checklist and get an appointment for an interview..

So here's the question: How long away will it take to get an interview appointment after I send in the completed checklist? Or is should I call the consulate for that?

    Hope it makes sense ^^

    Cheers,

    Lukas

    Hi Lukas!

I'm also German, started the process in may through Frankfurt DCF. What you will need to take the exam is a case number. If you sent all the papers, you will get a notice with it, if you did DCF as well, you already have it...

I don't know which embassy is responsible for your case, but in Frankfurt all you need is your case umber to take the exam, they accept walk-ins...I already got all my vaccs done, but want to make sure and ask at the military clinic if anythings missing...

they say when your I-130 is approved to give them about 2 weeks to get your invitation... ;)

  14. I am preparing my AOS/I-130 package and noticed here on the forum that some people get RFEs by email, I am hoping that I wont have any but in case I do, I think getting an email would be quicker.....but I dont see a place on any of the forms (130, 485, 325A, etc.) where I could give my email address.

How do people get contacted via email?

I think on the biographic form there's a question asking for an email address, but not sure...

We got our RFE by regular mail, but a day before I did sent them an email asking about my case status and they told me (1 hours later) they had a letter on the way asking for more information, but not exactly saying what. I think they don't like doing it via email, because they ask for their notice of RFE to be sent back in your reply (probably so they can make sure what was ask from whom) of course including the documents they have asked for. Probably makes it easier for them to get back to the file...

  15. Hello everybody!

I currently live in Germany. My husband and me are right in the Visa process since he is PSCing in September.

We have just received and replied to a RFE, so still in the waiting, but hoping to get everything right and done really really soon, so we can leave together. :)

I hope to meet nice people in this forum, for sh**s and giggles or "info trade" as needed!

    Be

  16. If you sent back the RFE letter with your response, they have all the info they need

That's what I did. The copies of the documents they wanted, the letter they wrote us and this short note saying we sent what we sent lol

    So you're saying it's all good? :)

Would be great, bc my love is leaving in 2 months and of course I'd like to follow him ASAP :)

If they had more documents etc. to ask for they had included that in this RFE, right?

  17. Hello guys!

I am new to this forum and already have a question ;)

We have just received a notice letter about a RFE. Wasn't a big deal, got the response ready, wrote a really short note that we have included the documents asked for, also the letter we have received, they wanted that back, too, and send it the same day we received it. Now the question....we forgot to include our case number... :ranting: the notice only included my husbands (petitioner) and my name (beneficiary), no case number. All they asked for was the documents and that we should include the letter they send us in our response.

Now I am wondering if sending them an E-mail explaining the "problem" and giving them the case number will help them out or not...?!?!

Can someone give me a hint what to do or not to do?!
