Ok guess I erred on the cautious side better to have it and not need it than visa versa.
My migracion report was not used either but I have read of cases where it was requested. For the small cost and the peace of mind that it gave me, it was worth the potential aggravation.

Victoria's "green card" arrived today. Thus ends a long journey... for the moment. We'll be at it again in 2 years.
-
I had forgotten about the possibility of the I-551 stamp. Thanks! It's worth a try...
When we had our interview, my wife was concerned about giving up her EAD/AP card and the IO asked if we thought that we might need it during the time that we were waiting for the resident card. We said that we might and he gave us an address to send it back to them after we received the resident card. My wife still has it and we'll mail it back to them as soon as the resident card arrives.

I have always used Vonage and have only recently had minor problems with TIGO in Colombia. A friend recently told me about a new Vonqage service ($55/month) that allows unlimited calls to landlines and cellphones in Colombia. As was said earlier, you can also use an app or register a cellphone as an extension for $9.99/mo and call anywhere in Colombia from your cell.

We had our AOS interview early this morning at the Albany NY Field Office. Our interpreter was still on the line to go through security when they called us. The agent said that we probably didn't need an interpreter so we could get started until she joined us. He only asked me about how my wife and I met, my employment, the timing of my divorce from my first wife and had I been living in the same residence as my first wife while we were going through the divorce. He only asked my wife the questions that were on the application for adjustment of status. We were out in about 40 minutes; most of the time spent there was while he was out of the office making copies. AOS approved.

How many of us from the May filing are still waiting for an interview or approval (or something of any sort that says they're still doing anything with our files)
Mine was transferred to CSC on June 29th and hasn't moved since.
Ours was also transferred to CSC on June 29th but it has since been transferred back. We have an interview on November 22.

My wife arrived on her K-1 in January, we got married later that month and filed for AOS in mid-March. She received her EAD in May but we are still waiting for her GC.
Of course, I know that she is eligible to work in the U.S. with the EAD but can she be included as an owner/principal/officer of a business? I (the USC husband) am in the process of incorporating my (our) business and would like to include her in the initial incorporation filings now so we don't have to amend any of them at a later time. I know a GC holder can be but I don't know if this is allowed under the EAD.
If anyone has any experience with this, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks
As far as I know, anyone can be an officer of any company in the United States without having immigration status. The dificulty lies in the difference between wages and return on investment. I had planned to start a company with my now wife before we even started the K-1 process. What I learned at the time was that she would need a TIN to record her taxable dividends from the business. She could also earn an income as long as she was doing work outside of the country. I don't believe that such income was taxable. In your case, she's here and has an SSN. I would say go for it. She can earn both wages and money in the form of return on investment.

The process that your are describing below is the process for IR-1/CR-1. It is very different from the K-1 visa process.
To the OP. In ur process, we knew in November that our interview would be in January. It had a lot to do with Christmas holidays; but we had a lot of time to plan ahead. I don't know if things have changed much since then but I would refer you to a thread in the US Embassy and Consulate Discussion called Club Colombia Part III. Click on the link below. My experience has been that they are always helpful and will oftentimes research a topic if there are no answers forthcoming.
Good Luck on your journey.
Colombia is strange on that area
for K1 Interviews the embassy schedule the interview
USCIS then NVC usually 2 weeks case # your case is BGT , PAy , It will go to embassy .
As soon as you pay all fees you may take a month for actuall interview . The shedulling can take a litter as 2 weeks after you finish payment and all document are done
Good Luck

I was asked for my 2009 and 2010 tax returns by USCIS in an RFE. Checked their website and they were reviewing the documents after i sent them in. About 2 days later they stated that they are issuing an RFE. Today i get a letter in the mail and it's for the same thing! I printed out my transcripts and sent them once already. I don't understand what they want!
We also received an RFE for 2010 tax returns. It appeared to me that the RFE required that I send in a new I-864 to reflect the numbers that changed due to inclusion of the 2010 tax return. If you didn't submit a new I-864, this might be what they are looking for.
-
I would also provide the old A# with an explanation of how it was overlooked during the I-129F process.
-
@OP, if you use the "copy" that you have, you might be left without a copy for yourself. In my case, I obtained the "certified Copy" from my county in New York State. It took about 5 minutes and cost $5.00. When we got to the embassy, they took it and I have not seen it since. But I still have the "original" copy that came from the court.
-
My experience has been that the list comes out around the 20th and then again 5-7 days later. Today is the 19th of May and the list has not yet been posted for June. See link below.
http://bogota.usembassy.gov/iv-appointments.html
Just keep checking it.

With regards to the divorce documents, get a certified copy to take with you. At our interview, they asked for it. I gave it to them and they returned the uncertified copy that I had sent to USCIS.

There are two types of reports/documents that must be obtained from DAS in Colombia by my fiancée. One is basically a police report (Certificados Judiciales) and the other is a report that shows the number of times she has left and re-entered the country, at least for the last 10 years.
She has obtained both, but neither are sealed, nor do they look terribly official. I thought that I read somewhere, months ago, that such reports were sealed when they were obtained and had to remain sealed, only to be opened by the officer in the embassy. Am I dreaming this? Can someone point me to some official information on how to get these documents in the correct way and in the correct form?
Thanks
When you request these documents from DAS, they usually ask you why you need them. When you tell them that you need them for a foreign embassy, they will usually give you two copies; one sealed and the other open for you to read. It takes about 3 days to get them, so try to request a new set as soon as possible. You can even ask them to have them available for you at the Bogota office if you do not have enough time to get them in the local area.
-
How long does it take to get the interview letter from the Colombian Embassy? My fiancée lives in Bogota so I would not think it should take too long, any one have any experience with timing to get the interview letter,
I sent an e-mail to the embassy on 5/4/11 and received a response on 5/5/11 with our interview date. If we don't get the interview letter can we use this e-mail in place of the interview letter?
If we can't use the e-mail and the letter does not come before the interview date what are our options?
Thanks
My fiancee, now wife, never recieved an interview letter. The instructions on the embassy website directs you to print out the page of the appointment list with your case number and present that to the embassy personal at the gate. That is what we did and it worked out fine.
-
ok talking to my fiance about the medical and the cost, can anyone who has recently been through this give me some more info
The appointment package states that medical is 143000 cop for general exam and 129000 cop for the blood test, and she is saying that she has been told that vaccines are an additional 270000 cop
Has anyone been through this and tell me a bit more
Thanks
We went through this in January. I'm not sure how much the vaccinatios cost but we had tried to get them cheaper in her hometown. We had them done in December. When she arrived at the doctor's office, he said that he had to reinforce the previous vaccinations. We ended up paying twice. In Bogota it cost us about 100,000 for the 2 vaccines that she needed. Be aware that depending on the age of your fiancee, and her health history, she might need as few as 1 or 2 vaccines.

-
Wishing you all the best. Remember we were at the embassy the same day without knowing it. I only wish that I got to be at the immigration doors when my wife exited. Experience it for me please. hahaha. The easy part is now over; now comes the hard part...reality.

Hi everyone. Just reporting that the 10 year card arrived in the mail on Saturday May 3. Good luck to everyone still waiting for approvals.
